Chapter 12: [12] Level one sword intent
Not taking another look at his luxurious room, with dozens of ingots decorated on the walls - Zick sat comfortably on his bed.
'System, open the very rare gift pack.' Zick instructed internally.
[Processing....]
Unlike what he expected, Zick didn't see any flashy animation on the system's status window.
Only three dots could be seen on the blue screen loading.
'I wonder who made this system...Well, it doesn't matter.' Zick shook his head, it wasn't the time to care about such matters yet.
He could explore the system as much as he wanted, after finishing his work with Ethereal.
[Ding! You have obtained 2,000 destiny points and a level 1 sword intent promotion card!]
Zick's eyes widened for a second, he didn't predict such a plentiful reward from just a very rare gift pack.
Even the most talented individuals would take decades to comprehend sword intent to the first level. Sword intent was closely connected to the spiritual aspect, which was very hard to strengthen.
Nevertheless, it was worth it to learn any kind of intent.
Just Zick's lesser sword intent would provide a 50% boost to any kind of sword technique. And a level one sword intent boasted an overwhelming 100% augmentation.
'Use the level 1 sword intent promotion card.' Zick didn't hesitate at all.
[The card has been used successfully!]
Zick paused, not feeling any changes within him. He headed towards his personal training ground the next moment.
For diamond rank dormitory cadets, a mini training ground was provided connected to their rooms. Unlike lower rank cadets, who have to practice on shared ground.
Taking out a sword from his ring, Zick held it's hilt in a daze. He felt as if his hand was connected to the sword, it gave him a familiar feeling like never before.
Sword intent was formed through accumulation of sword experience, a process Zick didn't go through. It was almost like his spirit was injected with power out of nowhere, upgrading his sword intent to level one.
He wasn't worried about experience, he had enough confidence to cover up his weaknesses seamlessly.
'With my sword intent in level 1, I should be able to advance my sword skills quickly.' Zick closed his eyes, concentrating into his mind. As if influenced by his action, information started slowly pouring into his mind, pertaining to a particular sword technique.
Large families with deep heritage pass on their own special technique through soul inscription. This way, even if someone tries to extract the knowledge out of their head, they wouldn't get a complete technique.
Zick was also given the sword technique that belonged to the Dejlin heritage.
The information that didn't seem to make any sense before, became crystal clear to him.
Without wasting time, he began to directly use the sword as per the information in his head.
Just possessing theoretical knowledge wouldn't automatically make a person able to perform sword technique, in reality. Practical training was obligatory to master even the weakest sword technique.
The sword technique passed down in the Dejlin heritage was called the black star. The six great families coveted this technique too, it's worth listed as innumerable in the underworld.
Before regression, Zick could only understand half of the level one section, in the black star sword technique. That was the result of his 10 years of hard work, giving birth to lesser sword intent.
Zick kept performing the same sword stance, while swinging his sword horizontally above his shoulder level.
Crackle~
A few black sparkles appeared around the sword before vanishing.
'It's harder to perform than I expected...' This didn't affect Zick's enthusiasm to practice.
Just like that, two hours passed by.
In this time, Zick still couldn't perform even one move from the Black star sword technique. However, he was satisfied with his improvement in mana manipulation.
'My rough my mana control is the main reason for my failure. I can't waste this free time, after the academy starts I won't have much time in my hand...' Zick contemplated, while remembering his memory from this time.
Walking shakily back to his bed, Zick laid down. He overworked his mana veins, giving rise to numbing sensation around his body.
The unfamiliar diamond rank room made Zick very uncomfortable.
Though it was apparent that the Alter academy had no connection with Ethereal. Zick was still cautious due to the incident that happened a few days ago.
Only an insider could modify the safety suits provided by the academy.
'There is a rat hiding among the academy's personnel. Now that I think about it...' Zick took out his mobile.
By this time, the assassin dispatched by him must have completed the task.
And as expected, there was a message from 'uncle Jane' in his notification window.
[Young master, your order has been completed, but we found a very suspicious individual among your targets.]
Zick scrolled down with a frown.
[The cadet Aster's situation was suspicious. It took more than two hours for the shadow hounds to track her down. Which is very weird, I will keep an eye on her for now. You should be careful, young master.]
Zick showed a tangled expression for a second, before becoming emotionless again.
'Well, I won't cover her. If her mythical destiny can't even help her in this situation, then she should just die by my father's hand.' Zick didn't see a reason to protect Aster to such an extent.
Instead, he started messaging uncle jane about something else.
[Zick: okay. And also, can you send someone to pick up a list from me tomorrow. I want you to keep an eye on a few things for me.]
[Uncle Jane: You have really grown up, young master. Don't worry, I will send someone trustworthy!]
'Good...' Zick closed his mobile.
It wasn't possible for a single person to distribute his attention to multiple places. So he set up his uncle as a reminder for important events that need his involvement.
'Once the academy starts, I will have to expose Aster's inability to use mana. Once Ethereal finds out, she will be doomed. A perfect opportunity for me to win over Aster.'
Zick had given it an extensive amount of thought, if it was just marrying anyone, he could have married hundreds of women at any time.
However, Zick knew that the opposite party's destiny was the most important aspect, his rewards wholly depended on it.
Hence, he decided to focus on a single target, instead of scrambling his attention to multiple targets.
And that target was Aster. As long as she stays like a loyal hound beside him, similar to how she was with Ethereal in his past life - Zick didn't mind letting her live indefinitely.
'Anyway, I promised not to kill her with my own hands....'
While still in the evening, Zick decided to catch up with sleep.
