Chapter 308: A burden.
Elestria and Elysande were petrified when they saw the condition of the heads that Mykel brought. One had a dislocated jaw and his eyes were wide open while the other one missed his eyes. Both showed their terrified expressions, and it was enough to tell that they died painfully and without mercy.
"You did a splendid job, Mykel," Elestria said and tried to stand up but her knees were too weak. "I never thought you would come back in two days, and I haven't prepared the reward for you. So tell me what you want instead and I will grant it for you," she explained and looked at Mykel.
Mykel walked toward the throne and his presence was enough to prevent both Elestria and Elysande from speaking. They were too scared to stop him from approaching them since their heads could be the next thing that rolled on the carpet.
He stood right in front of Elestria and suddenly he went down to his knee slowly as he looked up at her. He then reached out his hand, asking her to hold his hand, and so she slowly put her hand on top of his hand.
"Allow me to stay by your side, Your Highness," Mykel answered with a gentle expression and his aura showed his genuine feeling. "I will protect Your Highness and the lady from any threat. I will make sure nobody could touch you or harm you," he added.
The fear that Elestria had bottled up suddenly disappeared and let out a big sigh of relief. She immediately regained her strength and at the same time, she felt happy when she realized what Mykel wanted in return. Find your next adventure on My Virtual Library Empire
"May I?" Mykel asked as he gently held Elestria's hand.
Elestria closed her eyes and she didn't want to answer it immediately since she still didn't trust Mykel. She wanted an assurance, something that could make her feel at ease with him around him. Of course, Mykel noticed that by the way she looked at him and how she was still anxious around him.
Mykel stood up, making both Elestria and Elysande look at him with confused looks. He then slowly removed his suit and unbuttoned his shirt, making both Elestria and Elysande flustered. When he showed his body with not a single wound on him, he then pulled out a dagger that he hid on the back of his trousers.
"My life is yours and if I disappoint or if I fail to protect you, you can kill me and stab me in the heart," Mykel said as he offered the dagger to Elestria. "I swear in my name that I will never hurt Your Highness or any of your family. I plead my loyalty only to you, Queen Elestria," he added as he went down to his knees.
Elestria once again saw Mykel's aura of honesty and she had never seen anyone with genuine honesty like him. She believed in her power, and so she took the dagger from his hand as she stood up.
"Mykel Alester, you have sworn your loyalty only to me. I accept your wish and grant you the highest position in the Faelethria Kingdom as my personal guard," Elestria said as she looked at Mykel. "You may stand up," she added.
Mykel grabbed Elestria's hand and kissed the back of her hand before he stood up.
"You can put your shirt back," Elestria said after she cleared her throat.
Since Elestria didn't want anyone to know that she was the one who sent Mykel to kill Soren and Rexor, she asked Mykel to get rid of the heads as his official task. Mykel didn't hesitate and burned the heads in his hands, and it shocked Elestria and Elysande that he could use magic as well.
"What is your power, Mykel?" Elysande asked.
"Anything I want, My Lady," Mykel answered with a gentle smile.
"Your power might be the most dangerous power that has ever existed," Elysande pointed out as she hugged herself, trying to keep herself calm and at ease. "I'm glad that you plead your loyalty to my sister," she smiled back at him.
"It is my pleasure and I'm grateful that I'm allowed to protect Her Highness," Mykel answered as he looked down and showed a pitiful smile which made both Elestria and Elysande curious.
"Sister, can you show him his room?" Elestria asked.
Elysande nodded her head and then guided Mykel to where he was going to stay from now on.
Mykel wasn't a part of the Zero Tier gifted and he had more authority than them just like that. The official decree would be held tomorrow so everyone in the palace knew who Mykel was.
"This is your room, and since this is just a temporary room, the maids and servants will have this place renovated to your taste. For now, bear with this," Elysande said.
Mykel thanked Elysande and didn't hesitate to remove his suit and unbuttoned his shirt in front of Elysande. Of course, that made Elysande flustered since she had no experience with men because she was royalty. She had never seen a man's body before, and seeing how ripped Mykel's body was, she couldn't get her eyes off him.
"I apologize for my rudeness, My Lady, but it had been a long day..." Mykel said as he wiped the sweat from his chest with a towel.
"It's alright. I will let you rest then," Elysande said.
Before Elysande left the room, she looked over her shoulder to steal a glance at Mykel's back. She then left the room with a smile on her face because it felt like a fresh breeze of air in the palace.
"You knew she has no experience with men, and you boldly showed off your body to her knowing she wouldn't mind about it," Aevia appeared on the bed, lying with her head resting on her fist.
"Both of them have no experience which makes it easier for me," Mykel said as he looked outside the window and saw guards and Awakeners patrolling and training. "I feel bad because you're going to lose," he sat at the window and looked at Aevia.
Aevia was staring at the ceiling and she was amazed by Mykel's capability to change outcomes. She knew she was going to lose the moment she made a bet with him as she saw the future took a hundred and eighty degrees.
Although the created chaos was created on the clock, with Mykel interfering with the world, everything started to align. The needles started to move in the same direction, and slowly all of them were going to move at the same pace and the same place.
"You're seeing it with your own two eyes. Do you think he's not enjoying his time in there?" Aevia asked as she looked at Elena, Sasha, and Amaryllis. "When was the last time you saw him enjoying the life he had? He looks happier in there," she added after she let the three of them watch what Mykel did in that world.
"Just because you showed us how he was doing, that didn't mean he was enjoying his life there. We might see it that way, but we don't know if that's what he actually feels right now," Elena responded. "We won't believe whatever you said or what we saw. We will believe it when Mykel is the one who told us that he's enjoying it or not," she added.
Aevia crossed her arms and silently stared at the three of them, and she started to feel irritated and annoyed by them.
"You must have lost your mind to come here and demand something from me," Aevia said as she walked toward the three of them. "Although I promised Mykel that I wouldn't hurt you, there's a limit on how far you can act insolent," she added and the whole place suddenly stretched out, making the three of them unable to move their bodies.
They fell to the ground on their knees and they felt like their heads were about to explode because of the pressure. They lost their powers and strength, making them succumb to Aevia's presence as the one and only true God.
"Mykel is important to us! Let us be with him!" Elena shouted her lungs out and used the remaining strength that she had. "We just want to see him," she said quietly.
"You can see him once he's done," Aevia responded as she looked down at the three of them. "I'm not talking about his task, I'm talking about him wanting to leave that world. If he decides to leave, that's when you will be able to see him," she added with her arms crossed.
"Just let us get in there and be with him..." Amaryllis lifted her head and looked at Aevia.
"An out-of-place piece of the puzzle can render the entire picture incomplete. An existence as powerful as the three of you weighs more than the world can carry. What you want is the last thing I want to do," Aevia explained and stared into Amaryllis' eyes. "It doesn't matter if you act like a doll or a statue. You're not fit in there, and you will only become a burden to Mykel because he can't have fun on his own anymore," she pointed out.
The three of them couldn't say anything because they could barely stay awake by the pressure. At the same time, they knew what they wanted was something that could be called selfish.
"Let him go. He's someone who can't stay quiet and live in peace. He's someone who loves challenges even if it means he will die trying, but that's who he is and you know that," Aevia explained as she intensified the pressure on them. "He will come to you when he wants to see you. So stop bothering him and wait patiently," she added and then walked away, releasing them from the pressure.
Aevia disappeared and since it would be bothersome to have them around her, she manipulated the space around them, making them trapped in that place. She left them there with a big screen for them to see Mykel so they could see what he was doing to waste time.
Amaryllis noticed the space around her and knew Aevia had imprisoned them there. She knew it would be impossible to leave, and she told Elena and Sasha about it.
"What should we do?" Sasha asked Elena who was looking down with her hair covering her face.
"We wait..." Elena answered quietly. "We will wait patiently," she continued.
