Destroying My Own World

Chapter 309: A scapegoat.

Aevia was sitting at the window and staring at the bright moon, but then she noticed someone was coming into the room. Mykel opened his eyes because he also felt someone was coming and then sat up and walked to the door. When he opened the door, he saw Elestria standing in front of his room, startled because she didn't expect him to open the door.

"I'm glad that you're awake, follow me," Elestria said after she regained her composure. "I will explain everything when we are in my room," she added and then walked the hallway.

Mykel didn't say anything and nodded his head as he closed the door behind him. He then followed Elestria in the middle of the night where all Zero Tier members were patrolling inside and outside the palace. They were protecting Elestria and Elysande from the culprit.

It was Elestria's working office and Elysande was in there, drinking her cup of tea and biscuits at the table. Mykel might know why she brought him there, but he didn't ask about it and let Elestria explain it to him.

Elestria sat at the office table and crossed her arms on the table as she stared Mykel in the eye. She pulled out a few documents and pushed them across the table where Mykel was standing.

"Words have spread that the culprit behind the death of two leaders is someone that was ordered by me because I'm the only one who's still alive right now. As we speak they're investigating the culprit, and right now they're here, in my country," Elestria explained and looked at Mykel who was reading the documents. "I need you to find a scapegoat and at the same time to kill those people in the documents," she added.

Mykel looked at the profiles of Zero Tier gifted and those people were the sacrificial lamb for a perfect scapegoat. All those people were Awakeners who questioned Elestria and had a high chance of changing sides and betraying the kingdom. He was quite surprised and amazed that Elestria could take the opportunity to get rid of her own people who weren't loyal to her.

"How bad do you want it to be?" Mykel asked as he closed the documents since he had seen enough.

"Not too excessive, just do it like how you did it to those two nations. Make it as natural as possible," Elestria answered with a serious expression.

"But if you're unharmed or even fake your injuries, that would be too obvious," Mykel pointed out as he put the documents on the table.

"You can harm me, I have no problems with that," Elestria answered without hesitation. "I allow you to hurt me this one time. I don't care if you make me disabled as I still have my sister who can replace me," she added.

Mykel looked at Elestria and he never thought he would admire someone with her bravery. For a mere mortal, it was quite impressive and he wasn't the only one who was impressed by her, Aevia was thinking the same thing.

"I know what I'm going to do, and I'm not going to make you disabled, Your Highness," Mykel answered so calmly and with confidence. "Leave it to me," he added and then left the room.

"Are you sure about this, Esteria?" Elysande asked and looked at Elestria with a worried expression.

"This much is worth the price," Elestria answered as she put her hands under her nose and looked at the door with a determined expression. "I'm curious what Mykel is going to do," she added.

Elysande sighed as she closed her eyes, knowing that her sister wouldn't listen to her anymore once she knew what she wanted. After all, Elestria's personality was the same as the previous queen, a tyranny with the mask of a saint.

"Remember, you're not allowed to use your power. If you used your power to create a clone of yourself and made him the scapegoat, you lose," Aevia warned.

"I'm not planning to use it in the first place," Mykel answered. "I'm going to use this instead," he pointed out as he pulled Kiersha's essence from his pocket. "I wonder what will happen if someone swallows this essence," he continued and looked at Aevia.

Aevia never thought Mykel would have something up his sleeve and that plan would work perfectly since if a normal human being ate that essence, their bodies would be taken over by Kiersha. It would be the most convincing plan if the killer was indeed a demon disguised as a human, and he didn't have to do a makeover since the person would become as white as snow.

(At the fancy hotel)

Devlin and Aleric were gathering after they heard the news about the death of two leaders. They knew the rumor that had spread about Elestria was the one behind their deaths. They didn't want to believe it and they were planning to prove them wrong by standing by when the palace got attacked.

"Do you think the culprit will attack tonight?" Aleric asked Devlin.

"Soren was killed two days ago, Rexor was killed yesterday, and I believe today is the day when Her Majesty will meet him. The Palace was so busy and all the Zero Tier members are currently guarding the palace," Devlin answered as he stared at the empty glass in his hand. "I'm hoping that nothing happen tonight, but at the same time, if nothing happened, Her Majesty would be accused of assassination and violated the agreement," he continued as he sighed.

"Honestly, I don't think Her Majesty would get hurt. Remember that man we met inside the rift? He's really strong," Aleric pointed out and sat next to Devlin as he poured whiskey into Devlin's glass. "I don't think we are needed and who knows, maybe it would be over before it even started," he added as he shrugged his lips.

"I hope so too," Devlin said under his breath and took a shot of the whiskey.

(Outside the Main Palace)

Ariel yawned as he guarded the main entrance into the palace, and then he heard someone coming out of the palace. He was nervous when he saw Mykel standing next to him because he could still remember the scent of the blood and the bag that Mykel had brought.

"Where's Tristan?" Mykel asked as he looked around.

"He's patrolling on the back of the palace, what do you need?" Ariel asked.

"I see," Mykel nodded his head and patted his pocket, making Ariel look at his trousers. He then walked away and left the main palace.

Ariel's curiosity won him over and he followed Mykel after he asked someone else to take his spot. He followed Mykel and wondered where Mykel was going since earlier he had asked for Tristan who was at the back of the main palace. He suspected there was something going on.

Ariel followed Mykel, but at some point, he lost him and didn't know where he went. He was so confused because he was so sure that he kept his eyes on him.

When he looked around, someone pulled him from behind with his mouth covered by a hand in a black glove. He was pulled into the darkness where nobody was around to notice him. He was panicking, but when he glanced at the person who kidnapped him, he was terrified when he saw Mykel with his cold expression.

Mykel slammed Ariel to the ground as he kept covering Ariel's mouth, and then he pulled out a glowing bluish-white marble from his pocket. Ariel looked at it and wondered what it was, but suddenly Mykel shoved the marble into Ariel's mouth and pushed it deep into his throat with Mykel's fingers.

Ariel's hair turned white because of possession from Kiersha's power and he was in pain because his whole body was painfully cold. He couldn't move his body because of the cold, and the only thing he could do was stare into Mykel's eyes which were even colder than the cold inside his body.

The moment Ariel's whole body had become pale white and his hair as well, Mykel stabbed his chest, ripping out the essence from his body before Kiersha completely possessed his body. In the first place, Mykel wasn't planning to let Ariel create havoc knowing it would be too much. So he only needed Ariel's body as a scapegoat.

Mykel killed Ariel as he ripped the heart out that had turned into a block of ice. Ariel was one of the people who were listed in the document, and he was one of the targets that needed to be killed. He then hid the body where nobody could find it, keeping it for the final act.

Mykel dyed his hair and wore the pimp-style outfit outside the palace and then grabbed the cane from thin air.

"It's time for a bit of action," Mykel said as he fixed his white gloves and looked at the palace.

"Do you memorize all the faces already? There were plenty of them," Aevia asked.

"If I have set my eyes on them, they won't disappear in my head until I get rid of them," Mykel answered.
