Chapter 322: Savages.
"Why is there nobody around the rift? Are these people so weak that they're too afraid to die? Such pussies," Duncan scoffed as he looked around and saw only the reporters and media. "What's the demon's name this time?" he asked Javelin.
"Mavisha, the Rage of the Blue," Javelin answered. "The world inside the rift has so many rivers and lakes. There are sightings of whirlpools in the few lakes, and that's where monsters are coming from," she explained and tried too hard to not get involved with Mykel.
"Do the monsters use magic?" Victoria asked with her arms crossed with the tip of the folded fan on her lips.
"We don't know because nobody dares to encounter the monsters. We barely know the monsters inside the rift," Javelin answered.
"Useless," Sophia scoffed.
Javelin was similar to Zachary in terms of personality, she wasn't easily angered by anything. She kept her head cool because she knew that nothing was more important than the safety of her family from those monsters and demons. She didn't care about anything else and wasn't interested in anything either.
"Since nobody knows that we are going to raid the rift, it's just us and nobody will be joining us," Javelin mentioned.
"Who asked?" Sabel glanced at Javelin with a cold gaze. "Let's head in. I can't wait to do some experiments with these monsters," he added and entered the rift first.
Everyone entered the rift except for Javelin and Zachary who were still at the front of the rift. Javelin then clenched her fists around her wand and she started to feel annoyed by those criminals.
"Can I blow them off?!" Javelin asked with her teeth gritted. "Nevermind... I just need to ignore them. Let's go," she said and entered the rift with Zachary.
They looked at how foggy the world was that they could only see five feet in front of them. They could hear the sound of the river around them, it was so easy to get separated if they didn't stick together.
"It wasn't like this before..." Javelin said with her eyebrows furrowed. "But it shouldn't be a problem," she pointed her wand and dispersed the fog with a blast of wind.
Victoria and the others were pushed by the wind and almost fell because of it. They looked at Javelin and knew she did it on purpose, and they would remember it and she would pay for it. But they realized the quietness was different from earlier and they immediately went on guard.
"You didn't forget your medicine, right?" Duncan looked at Sabel who looked pale.
"I don't think I need one for this. I'll deal with them, you guys can just relax," Sabel answered as he stared blankly at the distance.
"I don't care if you need it or not, I just don't want to deal with the aftermath," Duncan said with his arms crossed.
"Don't worry, I already have one that I stuck inside my gum," Sabel showed his open mouth and pointed at his lower left gum. "I learned from my mistake, so just relax and let me deal with all of them," he added and noticed a lot of movements.
Sabel's eye not only made him able to see in a far distance, but his eyes could also see heat. The only ability that could see any living being no matter how good they were at hiding their presence. With that being said, he could see dozens of heat in the distance.
"Hell no I would let you hoard all the fun. I'm joining," Sophia grabbed Sabel's shoulder.
Sophia could sense heat with her skin and tongue, and she was the reason why Sabel wanted to have the ability to sense heat. Since Sophia was hot-blooded, Sabel didn't want to argue and let her do whatever she wanted to do.
The two of them ran through the fog with close to no vision fearlessly. The rest kept walking forward and could hear wet footsteps because of the mud in the far distance. Not long after that, they could hear screeches and growls, and loud thumping sounds as if a giant was running in the field.
Zachary and Javelin had no idea what kind of power Sabel and Sophia possessed. They wondered if those two could handle everything on their own even though they did clear the eleventh rift on Isola Key Island.

When they had gone far, they started to see blood on the ground, and blue and green blood stained the ground. Zachary and Javelin had never seen blood with those colors before, but then they saw another one, purple blood.
"He's bleeding," Victoria said as she looked at the purple blood. "That's not good," she pointed out.
The moment Victoria said that their surroundings became quiet.
"That kid..." Duncan clenched his fists and clashed his knuckles against each other. "It's better if we see him dead rather than seeing him out of control like last time," he added as he looked around.
"Unlucky. He's not dead though," Sophia's voice could be heard and then appeared from the thick fog in front of them. "He passed out even before the fight ended. Luckily I was near when that happened," she added as she carried Sabel on her left shoulder.
Javelin and Zachary could see Sable's nails that had gone from his fingers and how bloody his whole body was. He didn't have any weapon or armor to protect his small body, but how did he defeat the monsters? That made those two think that Sabel only used his fists.
"He's as good as dead," Felix said as he checked Sabel's pulse on his neck.
"He will come back to life like always, nothing new," Victoria said as she glanced at Sabel. "Are there any more monsters up ahead, Sophia?" she asked.
Sophia explained what she saw up ahead and about the whirlpools in the lakes. She could sense a lot of heat in the depths of the lake, and she was confident that there were too many to handle. With that being said, they avoided the path where the rivers and lakes were with Sophia's sharp-smelling sense.
The monsters were like lizards that could move swiftly and made little noises. It was easy for those monsters to track them since they could sense their heat, but it wasn't a problem for them. Zachary and Javelin hated to admit that those criminals were a lot better than any Gifted that they had worked with.
"Taking a stroll in the garden~" Sophia sang and hummed as she led the way. "Because the roses withered and the blood spilled~" she continued.
"Your voice is so annoying that it gave me nightmares," Sabel said as he opened his eyes and realized he was being carried by Sophia. "Put me dow-" Before he could finish his sentence, Sophia dropped him to the ground and covered himself in mud.
"Oopsies..." Sophia giggled.
"Wow, I should thank her for doing that," Javelin said as she looked at Sophia and was happy seeing Sabel fall and hit the mud. "I have forgotten these people aren't friends and they treat each other badly," she continued.
Zachary chuckled and then looked at Mykel who hadn't said a single word. It was unnerving to see Mykel silently stare at the distance with his cold gaze and a cigarette in his mouth.
"Is something bothering you?" Zachary asked.
Mykel glanced at Zachary and it was uncanny that Zachary was indeed blessed by Jeanne. Not only did he possess the same skills as her, but he also had her personality. He started to see everyone inside those people around him and it felt nostalgic, and that was why he went quiet because he used to listen to their quarrels.
"Just because I'm quiet doesn't mean I'm bothered," Mykel answered.
Victoria glanced at Mykel and she had the same thoughts as Zachary but she didn't bother to ask that to Mykel.
"I smell the ocean," Sophia tilted her head as she sniffled and licked the air. "It's salty and the ocean is not far ahead from us. Should we go somewhere else since there's nothing in front of us?" she asked.
"No, let's keep walking. If the monsters appear from the water, the ocean would be where Mavisha is at," Mykel answered as he walked to the front. "I believe the ocean has something to offer than water," he added.
They followed Mykel until they reached the shoreline where they could hear the ocean but the thick fog blocked their vision. Javelin then blasted the air to the front and sent the fog away so they could see what was beyond the sea.
The moment they could see the ocean, that was when they saw a massive castle in the middle of the ocean. The castle was drowned, and no matter how they looked at it, the castle should be at least two or even three hundred meters tall because of how deep the ocean was. They could see only half of the castle and the other half was under the water.
"That's where we are going, but before that," Mykel turned around and noticed the whirlpools had started to send the monsters out of the lakes and rivers. "If we don't deal with those, they will bite you in the ass later," he warned.
"We are cornered and who knows what's waiting for us on the ocean if we go to the castle. Our only choice is to get rid of them first," Zachary said as he unsheathed his sword.
"Hmm? Really? But isn't it more fun if we just fight them all at the same time?" Sophia asked as she walked to the edge. "I call dips on the boss! See you on the other side!" she shouted as she jumped into the water.
"You! Wait for me!" Duncan shouted and jumped into the water.
One by one they jumped into the water except for Victoria, Mykel, Zachary, and Javelin. Only the four of them stayed to fight the monsters that were approaching them.
"You're not going?" Mykel asked.
"I don't like getting myself wet, especially with this dress I'm wearing. I would ask this woman's power to help me cross the ocean, in exchange for helping her here," Victory answered.
"I'm glad that you're different from those savages. Alright, I'll make sure you won't get a single drop of water on your body," Javelin said.
Victoria didn't say a word and just scoffed as she pulled out her dagger from her sleeves.
