Devil Slave (Satan system)

Chapter 1119: The Fear Of A Powerful Woman Is The Beginning Of Wisdom

Athena observed all that had happened closely.

And when the devils rushed out to consume one of their kind, she turned to Lilith. "Why did you do that?"

Lilith smiled at her, "Living for thousands of years teaches you methods on leadership so profound that one could even lead senseless insects to defeat a great emperor."

"What do you mean?"

"Take these bunch for an example. They are one of the most powerful beings in the universe, the top of the Devil food chain. However, with power comes a different hunger."

"Control?" Athena added.

"Cute!" Lilith smiled at her. "That’s simple philosophy for the narrow minded. But don’t worry dear, you will learn. Of course that is if you decide on spending more time with us."

Athena shook her head. Right now, she felt like she was being pulled into something that she shouldn’t, and it was starting to bite at curiosity. For a gladiator, Curiosity was not a good feeling to have. It had led to more deaths than she wanted to remember.

And so she declined the offer.

However, Lilith did not mind, she continued to explain. "I used to love to sing. My sisters would gather around me, as well as the animals of the Garden. All of them drawn to the sound of my voice in the morning.

Adam would say that my voice would outlive the symphony of the birds. at the time, I sang not because I just wanted to, but because it came natural to me.

But when I ate of the Fruit of the tree of knowledge, My tongue was taken away from me..." her voice cracked at this point, and Athena could see in her eyes that she was still filled with longing to have that which she held dear.

"i was born naked, and in all my life, had nothing but the gift in my voice, and after that fruit, it now hung on the tree, staring back at me. The evidence of my loss. You see my dear, that day I wanted my voice more than ever, but it was taken away forever.

That loss is indeed significant. Presence felt most where absence resides. But it is still nothing compared to the Absence of Presence! The desire of one that has but is unsatisfied with the gift in their hand, and no one experiences this more than those that have power in their grasp.

For the more power they hold, the more power they want to have. Never contended. No matter how much they have. Their hunger only grows with more power, for deep down, it satisfies a craving that they refuse to recognize. This is the truth for these pups."

"And so you use it against them?" Athena asked, just to be sure that she was getting the lesson that was being passed across. However, Lilith raised a brow at her, "—No! I let them use it against themselves. You see with power comes the hunger of more power, and with that comes the lack of unity and trust, unless its in capability and of course, superior power.

All I did was let them recognize their vulnerability, and then I pin them against one another, therefore bringing out their true nature, which in turn will...."

"Naturally sow discord amongst them!" Athena finished her words, and she nodded with a smile, "now you get it."

Athena nodded in understanding. After all, it all made sense to her now. This was the reason why Lilith had spoken the abominations true name.

She had gifted it to his kin who were hungry for power and watched as that hunger had given way to the actualization of their greed.

After devouring him, distrust had been soared in their minds for one another.

Whether she was powerful enough to face all of them was no longer the problem.

The true challenge was the fear that she would call another of them and gift its name to the others.

They were like chicks looking unto their mother to sacrifice another of their kin.

But the question was, who would it be? This was it.

This was the true power that she had over them. This was the origin of their fear.

Athena could not help but look at Lilith, developing a new kind of fear for her.

These creatures had come with the intention to devour her, and instead, they had become subject to her will, and all she had to do was speak a few words.

This was indeed a very scary woman.

Just then, as the host of Devils had rush outside to devour their kin on their queen’s command, Athena noticed that one of them had not left.

He stood at the far end of the Castle, just by the doors.

Unlike the unbearable look of the others, this one looked more human. Of course his skin still carried the same shade of red. And he even had an inverted eye on his forehead, but this person was different.

The recognition of him made her knees weak, but she forced herself to not give way to the well of emotions that had been allowed to flood her heart.

She could not see his face, but her senses could feel every other detail and it was clear as daylight to her.

His feet on the ground. The pressure against the earth and his balance had not changed. His posture, the way he would sway when he walked, his breathing when he was nervous. The rhythm of his muscles. And even how he would look at her. All these were things no one would have paid attention to except her.

She had held him in her arms for so long that it was a second nature to read them.

She raised her head to him, and observed as he walked forward. From his steps could tell that he had wanted to keep himself hidden from her, but could hold on no more.

She could literally feel the tense of his muscles and skin. He missed her. Just as she missed him.

"Hector!?"
