Chapter 18: Chapter 18: “The System Thieves – Code War Begins”
[Scene: Mid-City – Abandoned Sector 9]
The sky shimmered in violet bands—code light.
Buildings floated in midair. Geometry fractured. Gravity reversed every ten seconds.
This wasn't a glitch.
It was the new domain of a System Thief.
Her name: Nyx Korr.
Ex-Support Class. Abandoned by the guild system. Now—rewritten.
She stood atop a floating platform, five data rings spinning behind her back like stolen halos.
"Kaito freed us," she said to the crowd below.
"But he still sits on a throne."
"I say we don't need another god."
Her followers raised their hands, system windows glowing black.
[Scene: Cathedral of Code – Kaito's Throne Room]
Kaito stood in silence, staring at the growing network of instability.
His screen pulsed.
[System Thief Count: 712 and rising]
[Code Interference Detected: Zone 9]
[Trait Absorption Detected: Korr has stolen passive: "Void Memory Echo"]
⚠️ User may begin mimicking Devourer Traits
His hand clenched slightly.
"They're not just using the system…"
"They're mutating it."
[Scene: Reina – Following the Signals]
Reina sprinted through the new jungle zone, vines of light rising from cracked sidewalks.
She had no system rank. No enhancements.
But her will burned brighter than any skill window.
"I have to reach Kaito before he turns this world into another cage…"
She opened her beacon.
"Tracking: Nyx Korr."
"Let's find your first rebel."
[Scene: Black Data Tower – Nyx's Challenge]
Nyx turned toward the sky, where a projection of Kaito's throne shimmered like a sun.
She smiled, eyes glowing crimson.
"Systembreaker Kaito Ryu…"
"I know you're watching."
She raised her hand.
[Command Line Injected]
/rewrite: throne_access = false
/overwrite: core_vision = blind
Kaito's screen flickered.
For a split second—he couldn't see her node.
"She just blinded me…" he whispered.
The screen pulsed red.
[You've been hacked.]
[Scene: Kaito Responds – New Protocol Unleashed]
He stood from his throne.
Cloak swirling. Aura thick enough to bend gravity.
"Enough."
[Activate: Judge Protocol Alpha]
– Deploying Enforcer: Code Judge – HALIX
[Scene: The First Code Judge Descends]
A blast of violet lightning split the sky.
From it descended HALIX, the first Judge. Clad in obsidian armor, with no mouth—only a data halo burning where his head should be.
He landed in front of Nyx's tower.
Didn't speak.
Just held out a hand.
"Halt code theft. Return core."
Nyx laughed.
"You're his lapdog?"
"Good. I eat gods."
She launched five rewritten attack scripts.
HALIX didn't dodge.
He absorbed them.
Then moved.
FLASH.
One second, he stood still.
The next—her tower split in half.
[Scene: Nyx Retreats – War Declared]
Nyx crashed into a building, coughing blood.
Her interface glitched.
But she smiled.
"I can't beat your Judge yet…"
"But I'm not the only thief."
She tapped her wrist. Opened a private server.
Twelve names lit up.
Thieves. Hackers. Rogue gods.
Each with stolen power.
"This isn't rebellion."
"It's a Code War."
[Scene: Kaito's Throne – Aftermath]
The Judge returned, kneeling before Kaito.
[Zone 9 Secured. Target escaped.]
Kaito dismissed him with a nod.
Then turned to his system.
[New Law Option: Lock the Rewrite?]
Lock freedom? Become another tyrant?
He stared.
Paused.
Then…
"No."
"Let them rise."
"And I'll rise higher."
[Final Scene: Outer Ring – A New Thief Awakens]
In a forgotten bunker, an old man opened his eyes.
His screen blinked.
He didn't awaken with a class.
He rewrote one from scratch.
"The system belongs to no one now."
"Especially not the boy who stole godhood."
