Divine Luck: SSS-Rank Battle Maid Harem

Chapter 598: Difficult Task

Nessa and Dukiel couldn't help but be energized when they saw Zach and his familiars dive into activity. They weren't completely sure what they were doing, but they could tell it was important. It made them want to do something themselves. They still had obligations to fulfill.

But when they weren't watching Zoe or sleeping, they helped Zach, either directly or by taking his shifts at the ice wall so that he could disappear from the Underworld to a place called Haven.

They wanted to be calm about it. But they couldn't help but be surprised, despite everything they had gone through and everything they had seen Zach do.

Sometime, when they were apart, he had somehow acquired a private world and could travel to it whenever he wanted through teleportation. It apparently also contained a vault filled to the brim with treasures. It was ridiculous and unfair.

If it hadn't been for how busy Zach and his familiars were, Nessa and Dukiel would have forced him to take them. But they knew how tunnel-visioned Zach could get. They didn't want to disturb him when he was that focused.

He was doing something important.

Nessa got confused just by trying to listen in on their conversations, so she wasn't of much help other than when offering her ideas on the few things she did vaguely understand.

Dukiel, on the other hand, contributed greatly. He used his Enhance on the finished products Alzara made. He even used it on Zach directly.

It helped his fatigued tissues recover. Zach could even feel his body grow stronger. It was to the point where he prioritized it over Dukiel Enhancing the medicines that did the same thing.

However, Dukiel shook his head.

It was fine once or twice. After that, it became too much.

Dukiel hadn't figured out why, but the human body could only be Enhanced that much before starting to break down. Other things also had a limit after which Enhance didn't do anything further. But it was only living things that started breaking after too much.

Zach figured it was similar to how his body broke down after enduring Surge too much.

Maybe instead of filling the glass with turbulent water, Dukiel's contract skill was more like tying the water down with rope, strengthening it. Too much would lead to too much pressure and break the glass.

Dukiel seemed almost enlightened by Zach's words and went off to experiment on his own.

Unfortunately, that meant Zach didn't get any more Enhancements. He was a little disappointed since it was incredibly helpful, but he couldn't blame Dukiel. It was his skill, and Zach would have done the same if he were on the verge of figuring out a new part of his skills.

Besides, he was too busy trying to manipulate his world essence energy in all the complex and abstract ways Yanael, Mandra, and Ra were suggesting to think much about Dukiel.

Zach knew how to move his world essence energy around. Yanael knew how to manipåulate her sacred energy. Mandra was an expert on magic energy.

There was not a lot of common ground between the three different energies or the expertise of each user. Zach was a complete noob in terms of advanced energy manipulation.

Yanael and Mandra were both highly advanced and skilled at energy manipulation, but they wielded different types of energy in different ways.

They were used to thinking about energy and energy manipulation in entirely different ways. Now, they had to somehow get their way of thinking to align with each other, Zach, and world essence energy.

It was no small task.

It was also just the first step. After that, they had to start devising a method for Zach to use his world essence energy in the most efficient but safe way to strengthen his body.

If they wanted to make it even more difficult for themselves, they could also add in the ability to wring out as much as possible from the potions and medicines Alzara created into the method they were creating. But they all agreed that something like that was a step they could take in the future.

The immediate priority was to modify and improve Surge to use it as the foundation of a technique they hadn't even bothered to think about naming.

Alzara's duty was to create medicines that would improve the rate at which Zach's body recovered from the overuse of world essence energy.

Although they were damaged, it wasn't the same physical damage that her potions could heal. She had to come up with an entirely new way to heal him.

Fortunately, she had an idea.

In a way, Zach's body was tired of world essence energy. It was as if it had eaten the same food until it was on the verge of bursting. It was to the point where he couldn't eat it without getting sick until he forgot what it tasted like.

She just had to find a way to reset his taste. It was different from repairing torn muscles, cut skin, or internal bleeding.

It was more like taking a sponge that could no longer absorb water and restoring it.

It was a difficult task. Alzara didn't even know what ingredients would be useful in her attempt to make such a potion. But she knew that the plants she had restored with Zach's world essence energy and planted in Haven would be helpful.

It was just that she didn't know what other effects they might have once they started growing again. If she were too hasty, she could make it worse, and she might lose those plants from another world and another time forever.

However, Zach was more important than some plants. If it were to help his condition and find a long-term and repeatable solution, she would be more than happy to sacrifice those plants.

Time slipped away like grains of sand as they worked like crazy to figure everything out before they were dragged into something else that would prevent them from focusing wholeheartedly on it.

But they weren't the only ones working.

The people on the other side of the ice wall weren't sitting still.
