Divine Luck: SSS-Rank Battle Maid Harem

Chapter 599: Crack

Zach and his familiars had to cut their activities short when a crack appeared on the ice wall. They could no longer push it up. It was time to take down the ice wall and free Violina from her self-made prison.

Fortunately, Zach had come a long way in his recovery. They had even come up with a prototype method for his world essence energy manipulation.

Zoe wasn't awake, which was a problem. But it wasn't like they could wait for the sleepyhead to wake up.

There was one thing they had to do before tearing down the wall from their end, however.

Since Zach's body was in much better condition now, his vessel should be able to handle the load of a fifth familiar. It should be fine as long as he didn't summon someone as strong as all of his other familars combined.

But there was no way that would happen.

Zach could feel himself jinxing it, so he shoved thoughts and hopes away and focused on entering the summoning chamber of the Underworld.

He wasn't sure what he had expected. The one in the Academy looked very proper with structured lines, circles, and patterns. It was made from exquisitely crafted blocks of stone, perfectly arranged to create the chamber.

The one in the Empress Dowager's basement looked alive with throbbing veins and pulsating lights.

There was also the one he had accessed through the Wishing Key he got after killing the rat king on the first floor of the Labyrinth of Jira. That had taken him to a mostly bare stone chamber with a glass orb on a pedestal in the middle.

The one he stood in right now was nothing like any of them.

The dark stone that made up the walls, floor, and ceiling of the chamber looked like the inky, pitch-black ones from the sixth layer. But they did not give off the same harrowing presence as most things infused with underworld energy did. They had a soothing presence that sealed off and blocked senses. It almost felt like Zach was standing in nothingness, similar to when he had been petrified by the Basilisk.

Fortunately, it didn't stay that way long enough for Zach to panic.

Green, glowing lines sprouted from the center of the floor. They extended outward and split off, creating spiraling, multiplying floral patterns.

It was mesmerizing. Zach watched the patterns in a trance as they crawled over the floor, walls, and ceiling.

It was similar to what had happened with the Empress Dowager's chamber. So, when they started gathering in the center of the ceiling, Zach thought they would drop down and form a cocoon, just like what had happened when he summoned Mandra.

That didn't happen.

After most of the patterns condensed into a single flower at the center of the ceiling, leaving only tail-like stems behind, it moved to right above Zach.

Zach didn't panic. He wasn't worried even when the flower bathed him in green light like it was trying to turn him into a plant.

This was just how the chamber chose to summon a familiar. Why would he be worried?

He only felt excitement about learning more about the uniqueness of summoning chambers. He couldn't wait to see what other kinds there were out in the world. But right now, he focused on what was happening.

After finishing the shower of light, the floral patterns seemed to retreat back into the black stone. Zach couldn't help but worry at that. What if it failed?

Fortunately, it didn't take long for the patterns to return, and return they did. They were even brighter than last time.

And like always, when Zach summoned something, the light increased in brightness and intensity until he couldn't see anything, even if he forced his eyes open. It was an important part of the summoning process that hid how the most interesting part happened.

Zach swore that he would find out what it looked like behind the light one day.

The light was so searing that it lingered on Zach's retinas after it started to fade. He only realized that he had completed the summoning when he felt a hand on his neck.

He opened his eyes.

To be exact, it was a delicate hand gently holding his necklace.

It was an interesting hand. It looked like there were faint, intersecting scars all over his new familiar's skin. They were so light that if he hadn't been looking at it closely, he would have missed it.

The pale fingers were long and slender, and they moved with silvery smoothness as they inspected his necklace.

Zach traced the fingers to the hand and along the arm, covered in a black sleeve with white frills at the hem.

It was a maid dress. No surprise there.

At the other end of the arm, above the shoulder, a beautiful face looked at his necklace with interest. Pale skin with the same white lines as on the hand. Shiny, dark bronze hair, half of it tied up behind her head in a braid, the other half hanging down her back. Her eyes were a lighter hue, but also a clear bronze. Her eyelashes fluttered as she blinked. Slowly, she looked away from the necklace and at the source of the gaze about to drill a hole through her skin.

"Hello," Zach greeted.

The maid looked at the necklace in her hand again, and then back at Zach's face. Slowly, she let go of the necklace and put it back behind Zach's shirt before taking a step back and clasping her hands over her waist as she bowed.

"I was just curious about where you got that necklace, Master," She explained.

Zach nodded. He wasn't surprised that his familiar could talk, nor was he surprised at her beauty. He was a little overwhelmed since she was as beautiful as Mandra and his other familiars, but with a different charm. How was he supposed to get any work done when all of his familiars were this beautiful?

However, he was a little surprised that she knew what the necklace was.

"Do you recognize it?" He asked.

"Of course. I made it."
