Divine Necromancer : Cultivating Life & Death

Chapter 12: System

Ashton stepped into the awakening pod, his expression calm, but his mind was constantly processing possibilities. As soon as the pod activated, a sudden wave of energy surged through his body—an intense sensation, as if something deep within his very being had awakened.

A glowing screen appeared before him, displaying his talent grade. However, before he could focus on it, a sudden ding echoed in his mind.

[System Activated]

His eyes narrowed slightly. System? What system?

Before he could investigate further, the instructor, unaware of Ashton's internal confusion, examined the results and turned to the handlers responsible for recording talent awakenings.

After a brief exchange, the instructor stepped forward and announced his talent grade to the crowd.

"Ashton Walker, Talent Grade: S Rank!"

The moment those words echoed across the hall, murmurs and gasps erupted among the gathered students.

"S Rank? Seriously?!"

"Damn, that's insane! That means he's one of the strongest in our batch!"

"Wait… but what's his ability?"

The academy's system only displayed a student's talent grade publicly—not their specific abilities. Only the instructors and academy handlers knew the full details of an individual's talent.

The instructor glanced at the hidden details on his tablet and barely managed to suppress his disappointment. Farming Mage and Light Element Affinity.

Tch. A waste of an S Rank talent.

If it had been an offensive class, Ashton would have been celebrated instantly. Instead, he was now an S Rank student with an unknown ability—and that alone was enough to spark curiosity and speculation.

The academy system was strict. Students with lower-ranked talents were sent to smaller institutions, while only the most powerful were allowed entry into Xerth Academy.

The instructor hesitated for a moment, then glanced at Ashton.

Despite everything, he still had S Rank potential, and his A Rank Light Affinity was a strong support ability. If nothing else, he might be useful as a healer.

After brief consideration, he made his decision.

"Ashton Walker, you have been accepted into Xerth Academy."

Whispers spread among the crowd.

"He's in! That means he must have some insane ability, right?"

"S Rank… I wonder what kind of monster he really is."

"Damn, now I want to see what he can do."

While others speculated, Ashton remained silent, his expression unreadable.

Because in his mind, the System's voice had spoken again.

And what it revealed to him was something far beyond what anyone else could imagine.
