Chapter 13: system ii
Felix stood near the academy gates, his arms crossed as he waited. The moment Ashton stepped out, Felix's eyes lit up with excitement.
"Dude! You got an S Rank talent? That's insane!" He grinned, patting Ashton on the shoulder. "We both got great talents—this calls for a celebration!"
But Ashton wasn't really listening. His gaze was distant, his mind trapped in deep thought.
Farming Mage… Light Affinity…
It didn't make sense. In his past life, he had been an assassin, someone who thrived in the shadows, eliminating targets with ruthless precision. So why had he awakened as a Farming Mage?
Did I unconsciously desire a peaceful life?
It was a possibility, but peace wouldn't help him survive in this world. Strength did.
Just as that realization settled in, a sudden ding echoed in his mind.
[System Notification: System Integration in Progress…]
A purple screen materialized before him—completely invisible to Felix. Ashton's expression shifted, his lips curling into a smirk.
"Looks like my life is about to change."
The system's voice continued in his head.
[Host is advised to be alone during the integration process.]
Felix, unaware of what was happening, snapped his fingers in front of Ashton's face. "Hey! You good? Spacing out already?"
Ashton blinked and refocused.
Felix grinned. "Anyway, we both got accepted into Xerth Academy! Let's go celebrate!"
Ashton shook his head. "I'll pass. I need some rest and time to organize my thoughts."
Felix pouted. "Man, you're no fun."
Ashton simply smirked. If only he knew what was coming next.
In three days, they would have to report to Xerth Academy, receive their hunter bracelets, and begin classes and training.
But before that… Ashton had something far more important to do.
Felix and Ashton walked side by side, leaving the academy grounds. The streets were buzzing with students celebrating their acceptance into Xerth Academy, but Ashton remained silent, lost in thought.
Felix nudged him. "Seriously, no celebration? We're about to enter the most prestigious academy!"
Ashton gave a faint smirk. "You celebrate for both of us."
Felix sighed but didn't push further. After a while, they reached Ashton's home.
"Alright, man. Rest up. We'll meet soon." Felix waved before heading off.
Ashton entered his home, locked the door, and exhaled. Finally, alone.
Just as he was about to sit down, a ding echoed in his mind.
[System Notification: System Integration Progress – 50%]
[Host is advised to be alone and in a sleeping position to reduce pain.]
His eyes narrowed. Pain?
Before he could process it further, a searing heat exploded within his body.
His muscles tensed. His veins bulged.
His blood boiled as if molten lava were coursing through his veins.
A sharp, unbearable pain spread through every fiber of his being. His body felt like it was being torn apart and rebuilt at the same time.
He clenched his jaw, refusing to scream. His hands gripped the bed sheets so tightly they nearly tore.
The pain intensified as his very foundation began to change.
His bones strengthened, his muscles refined, and something ancient awakened within him.
[System Notification: Divine Necromancer System – Fully Integrated]
The moment the final notification sounded, Ashton's vision blurred.
His body collapsed onto the bed as he lost consciousness.
A thick black mist erupted from his skin, engulfing the room. At the same time, a faint golden light shimmered around him.
Darkness and Light clashed, forming a chaotic yet mesmerizing aura around his sleeping body.
A new power had been born.
And when Ashton woke up—the world would never be the same.
