Divine Necromancer : Cultivating Life & Death

Chapter 16: Life And Death Balance

Ashton slowly opened his eyes, and the world around him was no longer his apartment. He found himself standing in an ethereal space, suspended between realms. The air was thick with energy, yet strangely calming.

He looked around, his eyes wide with confusion.

On one side, the scenery was breathtaking—a lush, vibrant landscape filled with green plants, tall trees, flowers in full bloom, and a radiant light that illuminated everything. It felt like an embodiment of life itself, a place where growth and beauty flourished without restraint. The life force seemed to pulse in the air, as if every leaf, every petal, was alive with purpose.

But when Ashton turned to the opposite side, his breath caught in his throat.

The scene was a stark contrast—a void of emptiness, where nothing grew, and darkness seemed to devour the very air. There were no plants, no life, only an endless abyss stretching far beyond his sight. The stillness of the dark side was suffocating, and a cold, oppressive aura seemed to emanate from it.

Yet, somehow, both sides felt… connected.

At the center, where Ashton stood, there was an undeniable balance between these two forces. Both realms—life and death, light and darkness—were in perfect harmony, yet they seemed to be constantly at odds, like a cosmic dance of eternal struggle.

Ashton couldn't move—he felt rooted to the spot, his senses overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of the space he was in. His mind raced as he tried to make sense of it all.

Where am I? he thought, his heart pounding in his chest. This didn't feel like reality—it felt like he was in some sort of dream, yet everything around him was so vivid.

Suddenly, a soft, mechanical voice echoed in his mind, as if from nowhere yet everywhere at once.

"Host… you are inside your consciousness."

The voice was neither warm nor cold, but simply neutral—calm and emotionless.

Ashton froze. Inside his consciousness? What did that mean?

He closed his eyes, trying to process the information.

Was this a side effect of his Divine Necromancer System merging with him? Or was it the light affinity that had triggered this strange experience?

The voice continued.

"You are currently standing in the nexus between light and darkness, the space where balance is maintained. It is here where your true power resides—waiting to be unlocked."

Ashton's pulse quickened. His true power?

A sudden wave of energy washed over him, and he felt the ground beneath him shift as the two sides—life and death—began to pulse with an undeniable rhythm. The air itself seemed to breathe with him, reacting to his every thought.

The voice spoke again, its tone more direct this time.

"This is the foundation of your abilities, host. You are the embodiment of balance, the perfect equilibrium between light and darkness. You must learn to harness both sides in order to reach your full potential. The path ahead is fraught with challenges, but with both powers combined, you will become unstoppable."

Ashton's mind whirled with the implications of what he had just heard. His farming mage abilities and light affinity were not simply tools—they were parts of something far greater.

But what did it mean to be the embodiment of balance? How could he control such opposing forces? Could he truly merge light and darkness?

Before he could ask any more questions, the voice echoed one last time.

"The system will guide you. You must master the forces within you, or they will consume you. Your journey has just begun."

With that, the space around Ashton began to shift—the balance of light and darkness slowly converging, as though preparing him for what was to come. The vision began to blur, and Ashton felt himself being pulled back.
