Divine Necromancer : Cultivating Life & Death

Chapter 17: 17

Ashton slowly opened his eyes, wincing as a sharp pain throbbed in his head. The sensation was disorienting, but what shocked him more was his surroundings. He wasn't in his small apartment bedroom. Instead, he found himself lying on a luxurious bed, surrounded by an elegant room adorned with intricate decor. The faint scent of expensive wood and fresh flowers lingered in the air, blending with the warmth of the soft linens draped over him.

He blinked a few times, trying to clear his thoughts. Where am I? he murmured inwardly, his mind still sluggish from whatever had happened to him.

As he shifted slightly, his gaze landed on Felix, who was seated on the sofa beside the bed, his head tilted back in an uncomfortable sleeping position. His golden hair was slightly disheveled, and his breathing was even, indicating he had been there for quite some time.

Just as Ashton was about to speak, a familiar chime rang in his mind.

Ding!

A system notification.

His eyes flickered with understanding. The system… It's fully assimilated with me now.

Excitement surged within him for a brief moment, but he quickly suppressed it. He couldn't risk checking the system while Felix was present. He needed to understand his current situation first.

How did I get here? He frowned. Did Felix bring me? But why?

Before he could piece everything together, Felix stirred. His blue eyes fluttered open, and as soon as he saw Ashton awake, relief washed over his face.

"You're finally awake," Felix said with a warm smile. "How are you feeling?"

Ashton sat up slowly, rubbing his temple. "Better… I think. But Felix—how did I get here? Where is here?"

Felix raised an eyebrow, his expression shifting to mild surprise. "You don't remember?"

Ashton shook his head.

"Strange," Felix muttered. Then, with a sigh, he leaned back against the sofa and crossed his arms. "You were unconscious in your apartment. Something weird was happening to you, so Samael Flameheart brought you here—for your safety."

Ashton's eyes narrowed. "Samael Flameheart…?"

Felix nodded. "Yeah, you know, the son of Draven Flameheart? The guy who carried you here to his house? His bedroom, actually."

Ashton's fingers curled slightly against the sheets.

Samael Flameheart.

A name he wasn't expecting.

Why would one of the most powerful individuals in Aurelia personally bring him here?

Suddenly, the door swung open, and a powerful presence filled the room.

Samael Flameheart stepped inside, his piercing golden eyes sweeping over them. His crimson-scaled cloak shifted slightly as he walked, exuding an aura of dominance.

Both Ashton and Felix tensed, caught off guard by his sudden entrance.

Before Ashton could process the situation, Felix stood up abruptly, his blue eyes burning with fury.

"How dare you lie to me!" Felix snapped, his voice filled with anger. "My friend doesn't even know you! So tell me—how did you find his apartment? Why were you even there?!"

He took a step closer, his werewolf instincts flaring, ready for a fight. "What does a so-called big shot like you even want from my friend?"

His fists clenched, his body radiating hostility. "Answer all of my questions, or else—" his voice dropped into a low growl, "I'll personally file a complaint against you to the Hunter Association."
