Don’t Mess with the Puppy!

chapter 11 - One-Day Puppy (9)

“It's not a kiss.”

‘...Not a kiss?’
“I think Puppy would really like it.”
While speaking, Yoon Chi-young suddenly glanced at his wristwatch. It was past 2 a.m. But Yoon Chi-young, unconcerned by the late hour, asked the puppy in a voice filled with anticipation.

“Do you want to go see it together?”
‘Now?’
“We have to see it before it gets cold.”

“……?”
The puppy tilted his head in confusion. Seeing that, Yoon Chi-young slowly lifted the corners of his mouth and smiled. Under the dim lighting, he looked like a psychopath enjoying some suspicious deed alone. Until now, Puppy had only experienced Yoon Chi-young’s kind side, but now he remembered that this man was the boss of an organization.
It was bothersome, but curiosity grew a bit. They had to see it before it got cold? He wondered if Chi-young had prepared a fancy meal just for him.

“Let’s go.”
So, the puppy, weary and sluggish, was carried away in Yoon Chi-young’s arms.
The place Yoon Chi-young took the puppy was about a 30-minute drive.

Puppy dozed off repeatedly in the car, lying in Yoon Chi-young’s arms. Maybe because many feelings still unsettled inside, his body remained weak. Especially, memories of being betrayed by his older brother kept coming up, making his heart heavy.
“I spent some money and used my connections for the first time in a while to get a gift for Puppy.”
‘A gift that needed connections too…’

Thanks to Yoon Chi-young, those desperate feelings had somewhat eased. Puppy gave up wondering what this maniac was thinking and whether he really liked him. You can’t understand a lunatic.
The car stopped in front of an abandoned building on the outskirts of the city. From three black cars including Yoon Chi-young’s, members of the wolf clan quietly got out.
As if on cue, they all entered the abandoned building. Puppy was deeply nestled in Yoon Chi-young’s arms.

The old building was very cold inside. Even though his white fur coat had finished shedding, it didn’t block December’s chill. Shivering from the cold, Puppy decided to use Yoon Chi-young as a heater.
‘Hold me.’
Puppy scratched roughly at his chest, signaling to wrap him up with his coat. Fortunately, Yoon Chi-young seemed to understand right away and, as if waiting for this, he wrapped Puppy tightly in his coat and asked,
“Are you cold, honey?”

‘Crazy.’
Puppy was used to Yoon Chi-young’s nonsense by now and just ignored it.
Puppy rested the back of his head against Yoon Chi-young’s chest. The small face of the puppy popped out in the middle of the tall man’s coat. Behind Puppy’s fiercely shining eyes, members of the wolf clan followed heavily.

Yoon Chi-young walked inside the ruined building with his long legs. Inside, construction materials were scattered here and there, as if renovations were planned.
‘A gift that needed connections in a place like this?’
Something felt suspicious. Puppy tried to look around, moving his head that poked out of the coat to grasp the situation, but he couldn’t make sense of it.

Yoon Chi-young stopped in front of a warehouse closed by an iron door.
The puppy examined the suspicious iron door from his place in Yoon Chi-young’s arms. Yoon Chi-young had the organization members turn on the building’s lights. Several bright fluorescent lamps lit up, but the light was weak, and the building still felt eerie.
“Sit here and watch.”

Finally, Yoon Chi-young laid a blanket by the door and placed Puppy on it. Then he stood next to the iron door, smiling brightly, about as tall as the door.
‘What did he do this time?’
The only audience, Puppy, showed no particular reaction. He just sat wrapped in the blanket, sulking and looking straight ahead. In front of him, Yoon Chi-young shyly yet with a voice full of anticipation said,

“This is a gift I prepared for Puppy.”
‘Show me then.’
When Puppy barked once, urging him on, Yoon Chi-young counted alone before opening the iron door. As it opened with a creepy sound, a faint light from inside began to seep out.

When the door was fully opened, an old, crumbling warehouse came into view. It was an old place, probably used for dumping unused things. Seeing it, Puppy immediately understood what the gift Yoon Chi-young prepared was.
‘...Crazy bastard...’
Inside was Kwon Ki-hyuk, the horse beastman, on all fours, wearing only underwear.

Puppy’s eyes widened in surprise. Kwon Ki-hyuk’s body was covered in bruises, and even his previously clean face was a mess. On top of that, a strange rope was tied around his neck, and there were scattered bloodstains around. Yet he seemed conscious, trembling excessively whenever he heard Yoon Chi-young’s voice.
Standing next to him, Yoon Chi-young shyly yet proudly introduced the gift.
“Here, it’s a present.”

“…….”
“How is it? Do you like it?”
Despite the flood of questions, Puppy just stared rigidly inside the warehouse in shock.

‘...Fuck.’
He was deliberately holding back his reaction because of Yoon Chi-young. The man was looking at Puppy with eyes full of anticipation, wanting to see a response quickly. Puppy didn’t want to give him the reaction he wanted. It made him feel like he was losing.
He pretended to sigh. It wasn’t a normal situation.

But having suffered so much at the hands of that perverted horse beastman, Puppy’s black eyes glimmered as he thought.
‘...I like it...’
Following the thought, his short white tail wagged rapidly first. Seeing that reaction, Yoon Chi-young wiped his proudly lifted mouth. The gift was a success. Yoon Chi-young believed that Puppy’s tendencies were just like his own.

Seeing Puppy’s honest reaction, Yoon Chi-young even encouraged him to use it.
“Here, you can do whatever you want.”
“Huh...”

Yoon Chi-young roughly pulled the leash that was tied around Kwon Ki-hyuk’s neck. Since it was unfinished twine, it seemed painful, and Kwon Ki-hyuk groaned. But no one cared about his pain. There were plenty of beastmen he had cruelly toyed with.
Puppy looked at the leash neatly placed in front of him. He sulkily stared at it, then came out from under the blanket and willingly bit the leash.
Woof!

Having suffered a lot, Puppy bit the leash like prey and shook his head wildly. He vented his anger as much as he had been teased by Kwon Ki-hyuk. Though the leash only wobbled a little, watching Kwon Ki-hyuk tremble nervously as he glanced at the small Puppy was a priceless experience.
Seeing that cutely, Yoon Chi-young cheerfully asked,
“Do you want to take him around like this? Or should we eat him?”

At that question, the leash slipped out of Puppy’s angry mouth. Puppy thought he needed some time because he wasn’t good at doing two things at once.
‘I don’t want to take him.’
Kwon Ki-hyuk wasn’t even interested if given to a truck. Puppy was satisfied just seeing the mess he had become.

Still, it felt a shame to end it here. And since Yoon Chi-young had used his connections to bring him, it meant Puppy could do whatever he wanted.
A good idea came to mind.
Looking around, Puppy searched among the wolf clan members for Ji Young-bae ❖ Nоvеl𝚒ght ❖ (Exclusive on Nоvеl𝚒ght) by checking the tall members one by one.

‘I need someone to interpret for me.’
Finding Ji Young-bae, Puppy grumbled. He could talk directly after transforming into a human, but since he had no clothes, he chose a second option.
“Yes.”

Luckily, Ji Young-bae, who had improved his interpretation skills, quickly understood Puppy’s words.
Holding Puppy towards Yoon Chi-young, Ji Young-bae began interpreting.
“He says it’s dirty, so he doesn’t want to take it.”

“They say it’s dirty.”
‘Ha...’
Puppy let out a deep sigh. Although he was used to interpretation failures, he was tired of seeing Yoon Chi-young’s hurt expression.

Still, he didn’t give up and tried to communicate persistently.
“That! It’s dirty. He doesn’t want to take it.”
“Oh. He says he doesn’t want to take it because it’s dirty.”

“Ah… that makes sense.”
Yoon Chi-young nodded as if he understood. His disappointed expression eased. Puppy now added some definite body language.
“So. Let’s throw it away.”

“Then let’s throw it away.”
‘In my workplace.’
“In my workplace.”

Though the interpretation was sloppy, Yoon Chi-young seemed to understand. When Puppy said “throw it away,” Yoon Chi-young measured the building’s height through the window, nodded with an “Ah.”
“You want to put it in a gambling hall like the one Puppy worked at?”
‘Right!’

After two or three tries, Puppy was so happy he wagged his tail slowly while glaring at Kwon Ki-hyuk. Working at a gambling hall was really dirty and tough. That’s why Puppy hoped Kwon Ki-hyuk would suffer at least half as much as he did.
Yoon Chi-young seemed to agree and nodded, inspecting Kwon Ki-hyuk’s condition, then muttered to himself.
“Then, since it would be troublesome if someone recognized him… we should put him in a gambling hall in Southeast Asia where no one speaks the language.”

At those words, Kwon Ki-hyuk trembled excessively, raising his head and looking around fearfully. A gambling hall where no one understood his language—his fate was clear. In such halls, clumsy and inarticulate employees always got the dirtiest jobs. For example, cleaning rooms after customers like Kwon Ki-hyuk made a mess in, or doing what he was told to strip.
“P-please. Not there…”
Despite Kwon Ki-hyuk’s pleas, Yoon Chi-young just laughed happily and discussed with Puppy.

“Just… three years?”
Whispering, Yoon Chi-young approached to embrace Puppy, who wagged his tail. Puppy was about to gladly fall into his arms but suddenly remembered something and asked to be put down. He stood on the floor.
Approaching Kwon Ki-hyuk on all fours, Puppy pressed down firmly with his paw on the one hand of Kwon Ki-hyuk that was still somewhat intact.

‘He shoved this hand in my mouth. Fuck.’
“…He tried to shove that hand into Puppy’s mouth.”
“Ah…”

Ji Young-bae immediately interpreted the furious mumbling. Though somewhat sloppy, the meaning was understood. However, that slight difference in interpretation seemed to be a very important issue for someone, as Yoon Chi-young’s previously joyful smile turned cold. He strode back to Kwon Ki-hyuk with long legs and said,
“You should have said so earlier.”
“W-w-wait… It’s not like that… Aaah!”

Exactly where Puppy pressed his paw, Yoon Chi-young’s shoe landed. Then two or three more stomps followed. The sound of the hand being crushed echoed with Kwon Ki-hyuk’s tearing scream.
Only then did Yoon Chi-young soften his stern expression and picked Puppy up in his arms.
“Let’s go.”

After that, quick-moving organization members lifted Kwon Ki-hyuk like luggage and carried him away.
The despairing cries of Kwon Ki-hyuk echoed through the old building. Puppy saw the scene over Yoon Chi-young’s shoulder but didn’t feel pity. After all, Kwon Ki-hyuk would get back exactly what he dealt out. Thinking that way, three years seemed short.
Still, Puppy felt somewhat relieved. He liked Yoon Chi-young taking his side, and the gift as well. For once, Puppy buried his cheek between Yoon Chi-young’s coat lapels. His heart was pounding.

Puppy climbed into the car feeling somewhat refreshed and took a seat on Yoon Chi-young’s lap.

‘…Could it be.’

Suddenly, a troubling thought crossed his mind. It was a topic that needed direct conversation. Puppy immediately scratched Yoon Chi-young’s hand to call him.

Woof.

“Why?”

‘I’m going to change.’

Puppy sent the signal to Yoon Chi-young and transformed into a human himself. Though pain from his wounds lingered, Hee-sung endured the pain as usual.

“Do you want to do this anywhere?”

Surprised was rather Yoon Chi-young. When Hee-sung, now a naked human, sat on his lap, Yoon Chi-young quickly pulled down the divider between the front seats. Hee-sung thought calmly that it didn’t matter between two men and comfortably slipped into Yoon Chi-young’s coat sitting beside him.

As soon as Hee-sung wore the coat, he bluntly asked,
“Did you… mess with Park Gun-tae too?”

“Why him?”

Yoon Chi-young asked, his smile fading subtly. Hee-sung wondered if he actually worried about that guy. Someone not even worth worrying about.
Looking into those cold gray eyes, Hee-sung spoke fiercely without blinking.

“Don’t ever touch him. I’ll take revenge myself.”

“……”

Yoon Chi-young stared intently at Hee-sung, then slowly smiled, lifting the corners of his mouth. He had never been frustrated by the puppy not understanding him, but now thought it would have been better to live together as humans from the start.

He didn’t know Puppy could say such pretty things.

It felt so cute it sent shivers down his neck. Yoon Chi-young pulled Hee-sung’s thigh close in his arms, barely suppressing the urge to bite him.

He wanted to grant whatever Hee-sung desired. Resting his head lightly on Hee-sung’s shoulder, Yoon Chi-young smiled softly.

“I didn’t like Park Gun-tae either… can I help you with revenge?”

“Why?”

“Because Park Gun-tae made my life miserable.”

“…What happened?”

Curiosity made Puppy’s ears twitch. Finding that cute, Yoon Chi-young gently bit the white ears to avoid hurting them. Hee-sung fiercely asked again, protecting his irritated folded ears.
“What is it?”

“There is something. I’ve felt it since the gambling hall days…”

Yoon Chi-young spoke while carefully looking at Hee-sung’s face. His expression wasn’t filled with hatred like Hee-sung’s, but his gray pupils were clouded and his reactions slow, as if mesmerized. Even after asking again, he wouldn’t say why. Suspicious, Hee-sung watched him and then remembered this was just how he was, so he stopped asking.

“…Don’t try to stop me.”

Hee-sung had no particular reason to refuse. Honestly, he felt a little relieved. Every time Yoon Chi-young took his side, he felt indebted and disliked it. But if their intentions matched, he was fine with it.

In fact, Hee-sung wasn’t pressured by Yoon Chi-young, but the thought of leaving his house had settled inside him. He didn’t want to rely on or trust anyone anymore. He’d rather live alone. At least then he wouldn’t face betrayal like this again.

But a revenge partnership? That sounded plausible.

Watching Hee-sung intensely thinking, Yoon Chi-young gently coaxed,
“I hate Park Gun-tae too, so make sure you get your revenge.”

“…Okay.”

“You have to keep living with me.”

Though it felt like a condition, Hee-sung nodded for now. No matter how infuriating he was, Yoon Chi-young was a reliable ally. If their intentions aligned, that was good enough.
Still, Hee-sung felt caught by Yoon Chi-young somehow… He seriously opened his eyes and looked somewhere on his lap, pondering how to use Yoon Chi-young. He was still a novice at leading malicious acts.

“Ah, you little puppy…”

Seeing that serious expression, Yoon Chi-young laughed as if he was going crazy and buried his head in Hee-sung’s neck. When night fell, the gray eyes shining brightly in the dark looked especially eerie. But his behavior toward Puppy was more clingy than usual. Hee-sung stared at this strange wolf guy who rubbed his cheek on his neck with confusion.

Yoon Chi-young, cheeks pressed against Hee-sung’s neck, asked,
“Why are you so mean?”

“…Why?”

Hee-sung felt intimidated for no reason. It reminded him of how it felt being scolded by that bastard Park Gun-tae — a dirty, gloomy feeling like everything was his fault.
But Yoon Chi-young was different after all.

“You look so sexy.”

“……”

Hee-sung no longer had the energy to reply. He knew this guy was weird already and just looked sullenly elsewhere.

Still, he liked that Yoon Chi-young never told him to hold back.

Hee-sung endured the tickling as Yoon Chi-young rubbed his nose against his neck quietly. He felt much better.

Now Hee-sung decided he wouldn’t hold back anymore.

“This place is so clean…”

At that moment, Yoon Chi-young whispered secretly. Lost in thought, Hee-sung finally followed his gaze.

Yoon Chi-young’s eyes landed below Hee-sung’s navel, on his groin. Hee-sung’s face instantly flushed hot, and he closed his coat properly.

Yoon Chi-young ended up punching Hee-sung’s shoulder with his fist. But it didn’t hurt much, so Hee-sung burst into a long, ticklish laugh.
When they got home, it was early morning just as the sun was rising.

Since they had stayed up all night anyway, they had breakfast. Hee-sung didn’t lie down, purposely watching a movie because staying still made him feel gloomy.
Park Gun-tae’s voice kept crossing his mind.

〈I’m sorry too, Hee-sung…. But if you had done well, none of this would have happened.〉

“……”

Though he firmly vowed to get revenge, the experience of betrayal left a deep wound in Hee-sung. The hardest part was that it was a person he had trusted and followed for five years during his formative years. They were from the same dog clan who had promised to trust each other for life. Hee-sung wondered bitterly why this happened to him again, then curled up exhausted.

Hee-sung stared blankly at the screen, unaware of the movie’s plot. The lingering wounds felt only numb and dazed.

Still, having Yoon Chi-young nearby prevented the gloom from lasting long.

“…Stop biting me!”

Hee-sung suddenly snapped, sulking. Nearby, Yoon Chi-young held him tightly, biting his neck, shoulder, or wrist gently without hurting. Black wolf ears and tail protruded from among his hair.

Though Puppy had grown used to being bitten to some extent, today Yoon Chi-young was clingier than ever. His eyes were blurry like he was drunk. Hee-sung thought it was unusually intense today and grumbled as usual.

Despite pushing him away, Yoon Chi-young didn’t budge and whispered.

“I really love your smell….”

“You said it smelled like poop before.”

In response to the complaint, Yoon Chi-young smoothly lifted his mouth into a smile. He kept hugging Hee-sung tightly because he liked him so much, and that wide embrace was warm. After their playful scuffle, Hee-sung’s drowsiness finally overcame him and he gave up pushing Yoon Chi-young away.

Eventually, drowsy Hee-sung collapsed on the sofa and fell asleep.

Then he felt Yoon Chi-young holding him and lying down beside him. It was the same as when he was a puppy, so Hee-sung accepted it without resistance and fell soundly asleep.
But that was the problem.

He had grown used to the embrace of a cannibalistic wolf.

How much time passed, he didn’t know, but Hee-sung woke again near dusk.

He didn’t wake naturally but because of a strange feeling on his neck and unfamiliar sounds.

Grrr….

“……”

Puppy’s white ears perked up sharply above his head. Something was wrong. It wasn’t a sound you’d expect to hear in peaceful Yoon Chi-young’s house.

When he barely opened his sleepy eyes, a strange black creature came into view. It was so dark it was hard to distinguish. After long focusing, Hee-sung realized what it was.

A huge black wolf stood on all fours over Hee-sung’s body.

‘…Yoon Chi-young?’

Hee-sung guessed the beast’s identity from the gray eyes but couldn’t shake off the fear.

The beast seemed twice as large as the ordinary wolves he had seen in the wolf clan’s territory. Its fang, as thin as Hee-sung’s finger, kept sniffing the scent of his white neck.

It was checking the identity of the intruder in its territory. One wrong move and it might bite.

Frozen stiff in post-mortem rigor mortis fear, Hee-sung finally exhaled and pushed the beast away.

“Go away, go away!”

The wolf didn’t retreat much. When Hee-sung got up, he threw a blanket, blocking the view briefly. Behind Hee-sung’s back, the beast’s low growl sounded chilling.

Then the cannibalistic wolf, surprisingly agile for its size, leapt onto Hee-sung’s back.

“Ugh…! Don’t climb on me!”

Hee-sung struggled pitifully under the wolf’s weight. Though he was lean but muscular, a single paw from the wolf tossed his thin body around. The only relief was that the wolf didn’t bite his neck like a hunter would.

Hee-sung quickly transformed back into Puppy.

Struggling inside a pile of clothes, Puppy slipped out and mustered all his strength to dash away.

Yelp!

At that moment, the wolf’s fang brushed his tail. Puppy screamed and desperately crawled under the narrow bed. Covered in dust at the farthest corner, he trembled while anxiously watching outside.

‘He tried to attack me.’

Under the bed, Puppy saw huge black legs moving back and forth. The thick paws were almost the size of Puppy’s whole body. Occasionally, the cannibalistic wolf pushed its teeth and nose under the bed.

‘Son of a bitch…!’

Terrified, Puppy timidly batted the annoying wolf’s nose with his paw. He was really scared. Compared to the many beasts Hee-sung had seen in the gambling hall, this one felt like nothing.

The wolf in front of him boasted sleek black fur, but paced slowly and breathed heavily as if angry at failing to catch prey.

Snarl!

Finally, the wolf bit and started tearing apart the pillow on the bed.

‘F-fuck….’

Every time the wolf shook the cushion, the flying white stuffing looked like pieces of Puppy’s own body, making him shiver uncontrollably.

“You said we’d keep living together…?”

Terrified, Puppy curled up so small, even tucking his tail between his legs.

In front of Puppy’s anxious black eyes, Yoon Chi-young could be seen scratching the carpet with one paw, digging a den like a wolf would.

It was definitely the behavior of a breeding animal digging a den in preparation.
