Chapter 128: Chapter 128: Yun Ming Takes The Blame
After leaving the Spirit Transferring Pagoda, Yali did not immediately return to Shrek Academy.
At this moment, she actually felt a bit disgusted at the thought of facing the people in Shrek Academy's Sea God Pavilion.
She wandered alone through the streets of Shrek Academy. It was already late at night, but Shrek City was still brightly lit.
Looking at the bustling city, Yali sighed softly, her mind repeatedly replaying everything that had happened today.
Originally, she went to apologize to Leng Yaozhu and Xia Yi, planning to compensate Xia Yi as well.
But in the end, aside from getting scolded by Leng Yaozhu and putting on a show of authority in front of Xia Yi, she didn't accomplish anything.
She couldn't even agree to the conditions Xia Yi proposed in the end.
Although, knowing Xia Yi's personality, he probably didn't care about her display of power, Yali still felt guilty.
After all, she was clearly in the wrong today. Acting so high and mighty, even she thought it was a bit excessive.
Yet, for some reason, whenever she saw Xia Yi's face, she couldn't help but feel the urge to bully him.
"It's not my fault for being so domineering. It's his fault for being so annoying. The fact that I restrained myself from hitting him shows my natural gentleness and grace," Yali muttered to herself, finding an excuse to justify her actions.
"Yes, exactly." As if she had truly found a reason to comfort herself, Yali's mood instantly improved, and she began to walk more confidently, head held high.
Just then, her soul communicator suddenly rang.
Yali took it out and saw that it was from Silver Moon Douluo, Cai Yue'er, the headmaster of the outer court.
"Silver Moon Douluo, what is it?" Yali asked in a deep voice after connecting the call.
"Yali, where did you go? Hurry back! The Pavilion Master has taken all the blame on himself, and we couldn't stop him!" Cai Yue'er's voice was filled with urgency.
At that moment, a little girl dressed in ragged clothes, who looked about three or four years old, suddenly approached Yali, holding a stack of books.
"Sister! Here!" The little girl called out sweetly, handing one of the books to Yali.
Yali was in no mood to pay attention to her. She absentmindedly took the book and turned to ask Cai Yue'er, "Tell me exactly what happened."
"It's like this: the Pavilion Master just issued an apology letter on behalf of Shrek Academy, admitting that he was the one who tried to kill Xia Yi in secret. He claimed to be deeply remorseful and said he is no longer worthy of being the Pavilion Master of Sea God Pavilion. He even announced his decision to step down, with a new Pavilion Master to be elected by the members of Sea God Pavilion. We tried everything to stop him, but nothing worked," Cai Yue'er explained, her voice tinged with anger.
Like Leng Yaozhu, Cai Yue'er had always admired Yun Ming, even staying single for his sake.
She had even publicly stated that she didn't need a title and would be content to be Yun Ming's secret lover, only to be flatly rejected by him.
Seeing Yun Ming take on such heavy blame was unbearable for her.
"Wait for me, I'll be right back." Yali was stunned. She never expected Yun Ming to do such a thing.
If she had known that Yun Ming would take the blame...If she had known that Yun Ming would take responsibility for Xia Yi's matter...
She wouldn't have gone to confront Leng Yaozhu and get scolded.
Yun Ming knew Yali would definitely oppose him taking the blame, which is why he waited until she left before issuing the apology.
At the Spirit Transferring Pagoda, Xia Yi and Leng Yaozhu also received the news immediately.
Leng Yaozhu was visibly upset. Yun Ming's actions could completely ruin the reputation he had built over more than a century.
He might even be condemned for generations to come.
For the esteemed Pavilion Master of Sea God Pavilion to scheme against a mere young Soul Master, no matter how good Yun Ming's reputation was before, he was bound to be criticized now.
People were already starting to attack him online.
Seeing Yun Ming's fall from grace, Leng Yaozhu was heartbroken and filled with anger.
"It's all your fault," she glared at Xia Yi. If it weren't for him, none of this would have happened.
Leng Yaozhu wasn't a member of Shrek Academy and didn't know who Yun Ming was protecting, so she took her anger out on Xia Yi.
"My fault?" Xia Yi was dumbfounded, his face full of confusion.
"Forget it, I won't argue with a lovestruck woman. They're all unreasonable," Xia Yi shook his head. "You blame me, but who should I blame?"
"So what if I'm lovestruck?" Leng Yaozhu retorted angrily. "If you were as powerful as Skyshaker Douluo, I'd be obsessed with you too!"
Her beloved Yun Ming was suffering, so why shouldn't she be allowed to vent?
"Hmph! This damn Xia Yi, he doesn't even know how to comfort me."
"One day, I'll reach that level," Xia Yi grinned confidently.
He could tell that Leng Yaozhu was genuinely upset. Her words were blunt and harsh, but it was precisely because she didn't see him as an outsider that she spoke so freely.
"What do you know?" Leng Yaozhu looked at Xia Yi with a hint of guilt. Given his current strength, he might actually reach that level soon, but she wouldn't admit it. "Even if someone is unmatched in their era, the level of competition varies. Our generation was extraordinarily brilliant, with one Limit Douluo after another. For Skyshaker Douluo to rise above all of them is far more impressive than being the best of a weaker generation."
"Skyshaker Douluo, huh? Well, once I get stronger, I'll strip him of his dignity and give him a good beating!" Xia Yi gritted his teeth. "Then, I'll see what you have to say."
"How vulgar!" Leng Yaozhu scoffed. "Skyshaker Douluo didn't plot against you, so why do you hate him?"
"Because he said I was immoral!" Xia Yi huffed. The apology letter didn't just admit to scheming against him; it also stated that Xia Yi lacked morals and needed Shrek Academy to teach him proper values.
"A prestigious academy covers up a crime, and yet he has the nerve to call me immoral?" Xia Yi complained, his eyes full of indignation.
Leng Yaozhu pursed her lips and said nothing. She couldn't understand why Yun Ming was so insistent on tarnishing Xia Yi's reputation.
"How did you know Skyshaker Douluo would take the blame?" Leng Yaozhu asked suddenly.
"That was obvious," Xia Yi shrugged. "With today's events broadcast live, Shrek Academy had no way to deny it. Someone had to take responsibility. If Shrek Academy stayed silent, they'd be labeled as cowardly hypocrites."
"In this situation, Skyshaker Douluo had no choice but to take the blame. Since he's the Pavilion Master, the worst that could happen is stepping down, which doesn't affect him much. After all, Yali will just take his place. Whether he or his wife leads Sea God Pavilion doesn't make a difference."
"You're certain Yali will be the next Pavilion Master?" Leng Yaozhu asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
Xia Yi smirked, "The way things are going, how could she not be?"
