Chapter 43: Chapter 43
Chapter 43: Ye Feng Does Not Play by the Rules
"Cui, you don't want to break up with me, do you?"
"Yes."
"Cui, am I not good to you? Why do you want to break up with me? Don't you feel happy every time we're together?"
"You're really nice to me, and I feel happy every time. But when your spirit's evil fire breaks out, it always... always... I really can't stand it. My aunt is here, but you're only concerned with venting your evil fire."
"Cui, didn't I stop in the end? And the Grandmaster said there's a way."
"Stop it. You've said that so many times already. I have to think about my own safety."
Ma Hongjun and Cui were arguing fiercely. As Cui was about to leave, Ma Hongjun grabbed her hand tightly and refused to let her go.
"Ahem."
Ye Feng cleared his throat softly, attracting the attention of both Ma Hongjun and Cui.
Ma Hongjun scowled, looking at Ye Feng coldly. Noticing Ning Rongrong beside Ye Feng, his eyes lit up. "What do you want? You wanna meddle in other people's business?"
"Let go of that girl."
At that moment, a familiar voice sounded.
Ye Feng looked over and saw Xiao Wu and Tang San walking toward them.
Xiao Wu?
Ye Feng was stunned.
In the original storyline, Xiao Wu had scolded Ma Hongjun, and then Tang San had intervened, even getting into a fight with Ma Hongjun.
Now, Xiao Wu was with Tang San again. Could it be that Tang San's protagonist aura had kicked in? Was Xiao Wu in love with Tang San?
"Brother, you're really here."
Xiao Wu left Tang San's side and ran to Ye Feng. "I wanted to have breakfast with you, but I didn't see you in your room. Then I ran into Tang San on the way. He said you didn't come back last night, and I was worried about your safety, so I came out with Tang San to look for you. Don't get me wrong."
Ye Feng nodded, understanding. He smiled and ruffled Xiao Wu's head. "It's my fault. I should've told you when I went out last night."
Xiao Wu glanced at Ning Rongrong, a hint of jealousy flashing in her eyes. Curiously, she asked, "Brother, where did you go last night?"
Ye Feng responded honestly, "The Grandmaster is here. I went out with him last night."
"Oh, so it was Senior Chen," Xiao Wu said, her eyes brightening.
Xiao Wu, being a spirit beast, felt a sense of respect for Grandmaster Chen. Though he was a Titled Douluo, he never treated Xiao Wu differently due to her being a spirit beast. She appreciated that.
After Ye Feng answered, he walked toward Ma Hongjun and Cui and said, "I felt a fluctuation in your spirit power, and you mentioned the word 'Dean,' so I guess you're also a student at Shrek Academy, right?"
Ma Hongjun sized Ye Feng up, paused, and nodded.
Ye Feng smiled. "Let her go. A forced melon is never sweet."
Ma Hongjun frowned, glancing at Tang San. "You wanna meddle in this too?"
Ye Feng smiled calmly. "We're all students of the academy. We'll be partners in the future. How can I just sit back while my classmates are having trouble? If you trust me, let her go first. I promise everything will be fine in the end."
Ma Hongjun was silent for a moment. He looked at Ye Feng with suspicion, but after a while, he reluctantly let go of Cui's hand.
Cui didn't leave immediately. She stopped where she was, her eyes curious. She wanted to see what Ye Feng had to say.
Ye Feng pointed to Ma Hongjun and Cui, his tone serious. "Actually, the problem between you two is pretty simple. The reason you want to break up is because you, Cui, can't bear Ma Hongjun's demands. Cui, if you want to fix this, why not give Ma Hongjun a few more hens to share the pressure?"
"What? A hen?"
"What do you mean by that?"
Ma Hongjun and Cui exchanged confused looks.
Ye Feng nodded. "What I mean is that, since the hens can't handle the rooster's demands, why not find a few more hens for him to vent his evil fire on? Isn't that enough?"
Cui thought for a moment. Then she asked, "Are you seriously asking Ma Hongjun to find a few more women?"
Ye Feng nodded.
Cui glared at Ma Hongjun, shouting, "No! You actually want me and another woman to serve Ma Hongjun together? What kind of method is that? You're a hooligan!"
Ye Feng shook his head. "Cui, what are your plans for the future?"
"Plans?"
Cui blinked, caught off guard. She didn't have any plans for her life.
"Cui, you're not young anymore, right? Older than Ma Hongjun, I'd say? According to rural customs, you'd probably get married in a year or two. Am I wrong?" Ye Feng asked.
Cui nodded. In another year or so, she'd be old enough to get married.
In the countryside, there's a saying that raising a daughter is bad luck. It means that having a daughter is a losing business because she will eventually grow up and become someone else's daughter-in-law. So, once a rural girl reaches marriageable age, her family rushes to marry her off.
"You were born in the countryside, right? When the time comes for you to marry, who do you think you'll marry? A farmer, most likely?" Ye Feng asked.
"Yeah," Cui answered softly. She began to see where this conversation was heading.
"Farmers are stuck cultivating the land, raising pigs, working from dawn to dusk, all for dirty, sweaty jobs. They don't make much money, and when disasters strike, they're the first ones to suffer." Ye Feng turned to Ma Hongjun and asked, "What's your spirit master level?"
"Great Spirit Master," Ma Hongjun replied.
"Cui, you may not realize it, but becoming a Great Spirit Master comes with benefits. Once you reach that level, you can receive a monthly soul master allowance of ten gold soul coins from the Spirit Hall. In one year, that's 120 gold soul coins. Let me ask you, Cui, have you ever seen that much money?"
Cui shook her head, her eyes wide.
"120 gold soul coins. Most farmers work their entire lives and never make that much. Ma Hongjun is still young, and as his spirit master rank increases, he'll get more. With that kind of money, you could live a rich life. So, should you stay with him and live a life of comfort, or break up and live like a poor peasant?" Ye Feng paused, letting his words sink in.
"Think about it carefully. In the situation earlier, Ma Hongjun held back, which shows he still cares for you." Ye Feng turned and walked away, leaving Cui to think.
