Douluo: Two brothers in douluo

Chapter 6: Chapter 6: What Must Come, Will Always Come

Time flew by, and the day of Shrek Academy's admissions finally arrived.

As expected, Dai Mubai was assigned the role of guiding the new students and serving as the examiner for the fourth part of the entrance test.

At the Shrek Academy gates.

"Bang!"

Li Yusong slammed his hand on the table, his voice booming.

"You should have known the rules before coming here! Once the registration fee is paid, it is non-refundable!

"If you are over twelve years old or below level twenty, you will not be admitted! No exceptions!"

With his soul power reaching over level sixty, Li Yusong exuded a commanding presence that left many in awe.

"B-but…"

The father of a child stammered, his voice trembling.

His son had awakened his martial spirit relatively late—at six years and eleven months. However, at the age of thirteen, he had already reached level twenty-one. Surely, that was talented enough?

Most importantly, those ten gold soul coins represented half of their family's savings!

"There are no buts! Dai Mubai!"

Li Yusong cut the man off sharply and called out to Dai Mubai.

The reason was simple: to have Dai Mubai step in and intimidate the family into retreating—a tried-and-tested routine they'd used for years.

Everyone usually played their part perfectly…

Dai Mubai frowned slightly, realizing that what had to come had finally arrived.

"Sigh…"

He exhaled a deep breath and then spoke softly,

"Teacher Li, how about refunding their registration fee? I understand this might trouble you, so I'll cover the cost myself."

"They're commoners, after all. Ten gold soul coins are already a considerable fortune for them."

Li Yusong looked at Dai Mubai in disbelief.

"Dai Mubai?"

Never in his wildest dreams did he expect Dai Mubai to say such a thing. Was this boy trying to sabotage their operation?

"Teacher Li, even if they aren't citizens of the Star Luo Empire, remember this: When the nation thrives, the people suffer. When the nation falls, the people suffer.

"You came from humble beginnings yourself—you, of all people, should understand this!"

Li Yusong: "…"

Am I… being lectured by my own student?

It had only been a few days since Dai Mubai's return, yet somehow, he seemed completely transformed.

What's worse, Dai Mubai's words carried an undeniable logic that Li Yusong couldn't refute!

In the crowd, Zhu Zhuqing and Ning Rongrong exchanged glances, their eyes flashing with surprise.

As soul masters, they could hear Dai Mubai's words clearly despite his soft tone.

Zhu Zhuqing's beautiful eyes flickered as she stood at the back of the crowd, lost in thought.

"How could this be… How could he say such things?"

"They all said he was…"

She didn't finish her thought, but the doubt lingered.

Ning Rongrong, meanwhile, felt no particular emotion, only finding Dai Mubai's demeanor reminiscent of the scholarly elders in her clan.

Further ahead in the line, Tang San and Xiao Wu stood in silence.

Xiao Wu, however, had been muttering under her breath earlier:

"Isn't that the golden-haired guy from Soto City who kept staring at my legs? Who knew he was a student here?"

After a moment of silence, Li Yusong finally nodded.

He, too, had come from a commoner background, and Dai Mubai's words struck a chord.

"You heard the young man! Your registration fee will be refunded. But if you don't meet the two conditions, don't bother coming here to waste our time!"

"Otherwise, don't blame me for being impolite!"

"Remember, we at Shrek Academy only accept monsters!"

As he finished speaking, an immense pressure erupted from Li Yusong's body.

In his hand appeared a scarlet staff, his martial spirit.

White, yellow, purple, purple, purple, black—six spirit rings emerged simultaneously, radiating their brilliance.

Although not the optimal configuration, Li Yusong's Soul Emperor-level power was still undeniable.

"Gasp…"

"A Soul Emperor!"

The crowd collectively inhaled sharply, stunned by the revelation that the examiner was a Soul Emperor-level powerhouse.

Clearly, his warnings were not idle threats.

After refunding the registration fee, most of the crowd dispersed, leaving only a handful of people in line.

Scanning the thinning crowd, Li Yusong withdrew his martial spirit and tapped the table lightly.

"Those who wish to register, hurry up!"

Tang San and Xiao Wu were now at the front of the line.

Both were confident in their abilities.

Twelve years old, level twenty-nine. If even we can't pass Shrek Academy's tests, who can?

"Teacher, here is our registration fee…"

Tang San and Xiao Wu's registration process went exactly as Dai Mubai remembered from the original story.

The two passed their initial tests without issue and now stood beside Dai Mubai, waiting for him to lead them to the next round.

"Hey, Goldie! So you're a Shrek Academy student, huh? That means you're pretty strong, right?"

Xiao Wu tilted her head, studying Dai Mubai with curiosity.

Tang San was equally curious. From Dai Mubai's appearance, it was clear he was a few years older than them.

Since Shrek only accepted students twelve years old and above with a spirit power of at least level twenty, Dai Mubai must have been a Soul Elder or close to it by now.

Dai Mubai's eye twitched, a few black lines appearing on his forehead.

Does this rabbit have no sense of decorum?

"When addressing your senior, the first thing you should learn is respect," Dai Mubai said coldly.

"And yes, I am the examiner for the fourth round of Shrek's entrance tests."

"Perhaps you don't understand the significance of that, but your Sān-ge should."

As he spoke, Dai Mubai cast a sidelong glance at Tang San.

Xiao Wu: "???"

Tang San: "!!!"

Tang San immediately realized the gravity of the situation.

This golden-haired guy is threatening us!

If this were an open confrontation, I wouldn't be afraid. But if he uses his position as an examiner to make things difficult for us…

"Hmph! This golden-haired freak truly courts death!"

Of course, Tang San didn't say this out loud. Instead, his expression shifted subtly, and he bowed slightly to Dai Mubai.

"Apologies, senior. My sister is inexperienced. Please don't hold it against her."

Dai Mubai: "…"

That murderous glare doesn't match your apology at all!

At that moment, a new figure approached the registration desk.

Dressed in a light blue gown, the girl's skirt barely covered her knees, revealing legs as fair as jade.

Her face bore a gentle smile, giving off a friendly and approachable aura that stirred a protective instinct in those who saw her.

She handed over her registration fee with practiced grace,

"Here's my registration fee."

Dai Mubai gave her a quick glance and then looked away, his expression unreadable.

Others might be fooled by Ning Rongrong's act, but not me!

Li Yusong also studied Ning Rongrong briefly.

This girl doesn't look like a commoner. Is she just here to play around?

"Show me your martial spirit…"
