Chapter 38: 38: Don't give up, Goku!
"They seem to have taken this very seriously. Shouldn't we move back a bit?" Oolong pointed to the sky, just before the impact between the two energy attacks.
"Yes, I think we'd better move back a bit," Doctor Norimaki replied, taking his son Turbo in his arms, although he was a bit too sad to leave the camera he had built, he knew he could build another one.
"I'll stay," Chi-Chi said, watching with all his Ki perception the impending effects of the attacks.
"I want to watch as well, I will also protect your camera, Doctor," Arale added, not afraid of what might soon happen.
Arale positioned herself near the camera created by Doctor Norimaki, she had noticed the sad look he had given to this invention, so the little gynoid decided to protect this object from danger.
So the Norimaki family, together with Oolong, retreated to a place they thought was safe, and at that moment, a great rumbling sound was heard, accompanied by a strong glow that made them close their eyes.
"It's... beautiful," Chi-Chi murmured, tears in her eyes from the excessive brightness, but even with her eyes closed from irritation, her ki sense allowed her to 'see' the clash between the two energy attacks.
"Those are pretty colors," Arale nodded as she watched as Ki sparks emerged from the impact of those Ki attacks, decorating the sky with vibrant colors.
Those Ki attacks were struggling, stuck in the sky, trying to advance towards the opponent!
...
Just before the attacks collided, a broad grin broke out on Bulma's face as she saw all the effort Goku had put into his new technique; it was a variation of the previous one he had used against Pilaf's machine, but the ease with which he used his energy was commendable.
The fact that Goku was able to control his ki attacks to take on not only the form but also the influence of his emotions and that he could 'control' those fists to make complicated movements beyond moving in a straight line. All this made Bulma happy.
Goku was breaking away from his canon version, and that excited them! Because in the canon, Goku rarely showed a technique he created himself, not counting that in the movies, the only 'original' thing was Dragon Fist, but those were movies that weren't canon.
The fact that young Goku was demonstrating a second original technique in front of her made her feel proud. Deep down, she was afraid that she was living the 'same' as in the canon, but since she started interacting with this world, she realized the vast differences in it.
Perhaps the materialization of all those 'differences' was now fighting against her, throwing two fists of energy infused with her emotions toward her attack. Yes, everything was different and that made her excited.
Her purple ki drill collided with the two fists of red energy thrown by Goku. The impact created a shock wave that lifted the sand, pushed the clouds from the sky, and shook the ocean.
There was a loud noise as the classic energy confrontation began, sparks of Ki leaping from this contact, but while Bulma was in a calm, even relaxed state, beads of sweat fell from Goku's forehead as he poured every drop of his energy into his attacks, but could not push back the drill created by Bulma.
On the contrary, his energy fists seemed to be repelled, slowly at first, but the difference became more and more obvious. The unbridled rotation of the drill was eroding the integrity of the energy fists, and no matter how hard he pressed down, he could not escape this situation.
"In the end, the power difference was too much..." muttered Goku as he gritted his teeth, his arms aching from the tension, but no matter how hard he tried, he could only watch as his attack was pushed back, even coming dangerously close to him.
"But even if it's practice, even if it's just me showing Bulma my growth, am I giving it my all?" even though Goku's voice was muffled by the noise of the colliding attacks, Bulma could hear it, as well as Chi-Chi.
"Don't give up, Goku!" shouted Chi-Chi, causing Goku to turn his attention to her, and even though he was high in the sky, he could feel the young girl smiling at him.
"Do I give up? I will not give up, I CANNOT GIVE UP EVEN IF I FIGHT BULMA!" Goku's cry was mixed with another guttural scream, another voice erupting from his body.
He knew that he would be exhausted because his body still couldn't resist, but only by accessing the depths of this power, he could fight Bulma, he could prove that he had not given up.
That he wasn't just training to make himself better, that he wasn't just fighting to have fun or to test his training. He was also fighting to protect! And also... To avenge his extinct race!
"RAWR!" Goku opened his mouth and an angry scream erupted from his body, his white aura slightly tinted by a faint red halo, one filled with savagery and cruelty, but underneath there was intelligence, there was pride.
The Fists of Ki that Goku had created seemed to take on new life, growing larger, firmer, and deeper in color. Goku opened his hands and the energy fists opened as well, then his hands caught the drill created by Bulma before crushing it completely.
"Sometimes I forget that the best thing Goku can do is overcome when he's at his limit," Bulma muttered as she watched the two colossal red energy fists fall towards her.
Goku was no longer in control of his attack, his body had been injured from accessing power for too long that his body was not adapted to, and as his attack fell, so did his body.
He was dizzy, his vision blurred, his body falling slowly, held up by the remnants of the flying technique, but before he fell he saw Bulma's slender arm rise, her palm pointing at the attack that was falling on her.
"To think you would use that power to attack me, it seems your desire to win is greater than your desire to play with your enemies, that's good," Bulma looked at the almost unconscious falling Goku before turning her attention to the incoming attack.
"I'll show you what I've learned about you, Goku," Bulma went deep inside, seeing her 'other self' but in her plant version.
She approached the barrier that blocked the passage between her and her counterpart and touched it with her palm. As she did so, some of the latent energy of her Plant version flowed into her, allowing her to see some things she hadn't noticed before, but she would think about them later.
"Tesseract" emerged from Bulma's hand as what could only be described as a geometric figure made up of 8 three-dimensional cubes.
Such a figure, projected in a kind of pseudo-fourth dimension, encapsulated the Ki Fists created by Goku and contained the explosion caused by the clash of attacks.
This geometric figure shrank, containing the energy of the explosion, diminishing it to the point that nothing was left but specks of reddish Ki that floated inside the tesseract before finally disappearing.
Bulma sighed, feeling very exhausted because just like Goku, she had accessed a power that she had not yet mastered and that her body still could not withstand, only at least she was able to stand instead of fainting like Goku finally did.
"Chi-Chi, catch Goku," Bulma said before she made the Tesseract disappear.
Bulma then began to massage her forehead due to the intense migraine she was feeling, but unlike a few days ago when she healed Yamcha, this pain was less intense.
'I am adapting to this power... I should try body transformations more often, maybe it will help with the adjustment,' Bulma thought as she watched Chi-Chi take flight and catch Goku in mid-air.
Chi-Chi descended with Goku in her arms, watching as the Young Saiyan rested peacefully, even unconsciously twisting to fit into the girl's embrace as if it felt quite comfortable to be held by Chi-Chi.
This situation made Chi-Chi's heart beat quite fast, but this time her face did not turn as red as before, she simply floated down to fall next to Bulma, who threw a capsule onto the beach.
From the smoke of the capsule, a briefcase appeared, and Bulma carefully opened it, revealing its contents. There were several bottles of strange liquids, but the labels stuck to the glass of the bottles indicated their purpose.
Bulma took a bottle with an orange-colored liquid and took a sip, and her migraine began to subside. Feeling that she could think freely now, Bulma took another bottle, one with a crimson liquid.
The label on this bottle indicated its usefulness, it was supposed to promote physical recovery. This collection of 'potions' was one of the things Bulma had been trying to accomplish all these years.
It didn't have anything exaggerated like the Senzu Beans, but it could help her solve certain situations, like now. Aside from the Golden Grapes, which she made into wine, and the Beauty Peaches, whose tree was strictly guarded and cared for by her mother, Bulma got some strange results from improving fruits.
One of them was an apple tree, the one she had tried to improve in the beginning. Apples from this tree could help to slightly improve a person's recovery. The fruit used in the potion that helped with her headache helped with her mental recovery, and that potion was made with oranges.
Bulma approached with the bottle in her hand, but seeing how Chi-Chi seemed to enjoy holding Goku like a sleeping princess, the blue-haired girl looked at the bottle in her hand before putting it down.
"Don't say I don't support you, Chi-Chi," Bulma teased the teenager, who blushed at the words.
"I-it's not what you think, Bulma!" cried Chi-Chi, but the playful smile on Bulma's face made the teenager understand that her friend would never let her forget this moment in her life.
"Bulma... you can feel emotions, right?" asked Chi-Chi, even though she already knew the answer.
"Yes, what do you want to ask?" Bulma replied with another question, sensing the doubt in Chi-Chi's emotions, as well as emotions of expectation and hope.
"Do you know... Do you know if Goku likes me?" Chi-Chi finally asked, causing Bulma to almost trip as she tried to pick up the briefcase capsule containing the potions.
"Wouldn't it be better if you found out on your own?" Bulma asked back, one eyebrow raised, but seeing Chi-Chi's annoyed face, Bulma sighed.
"Young people grow up so fast," Bulma said in a fake older tone, causing Chi-Chi to burst out laughing.
"Chi-Chi, even though I can feel emotions, I don't think it's appropriate to talk about another person's emotions without their consent. But using my experience and not my skill, I can tell that you like him as a friend, Love? Goku may be confusing those feelings with hunger.
It's not that he doesn't like you in that way, it's just that his mind and body are too young to experience those kinds of emotions, remember that unlike us who are human, he is a Saiyan.
They grow slower, so things like puberty or the growth spurt that everyone goes through in adolescence happen much later than we do. But if you stay by his side, you can slowly make a place in his heart.
When Goku can feel those kinds of physical and emotional desires, the only girl who will show up when he wants to 'explore' those things will undoubtedly be you. So be patient with him," Bulma advised, causing Chi-Chi to nod before looking down at Goku, who was still sleeping.
Chi-Chi will do everything she can to win a place in Goku's heart! Whether it was getting stronger, training, or spending time with Goku, maybe the latter was more important in her mind.
'You already have your future wife, Goku, now I need to find one for me,' Bulma thought before she raised her arms and stretched her body.
Bulma just had to wait for that special person to come into her life.
