Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Working with Dr. Hedo
"Lord Frieza, we just received a transmission from Lord Cold. He was ambushed by Red Ribbon androids and is now being rushed to the flagship for treatment."
"He's not dead? Good," Frieza chuckled coldly. "Maybe this beating will finally knock some humility into Father's oversized ego."
The others around him all lowered their heads, pretending they hadn't heard Frieza's biting remark.
Berryblue reminded calmly, "My lord, Lord Cold's injuries are severe. He may need to spend a long time inside the healing chamber."
"Let him be," Frieza replied with a dismissive smirk, then narrowed his eyes. "What about the Dragon Ball he was holding?"
Berryblue answered blandly, "It was stolen by the enemy."
Frieza's expression darkened. "A brute like Father, who only knows how to rely on brute strength. He's obsolete. It won't be long before this era leaves him behind."
No one dared to echo that statement. They all kept their heads bowed even lower.
Only Berryblue let out a soft laugh. "Still, Lord Cold's injury is a major setback for us. Should we contact Lord Cooler and request backup?"
A chill flickered in Frieza's eyes. "Berryblue, do you remember the agreement my dear brother made with us?"
Berryblue smiled knowingly. "Of course. Lord Cooler only takes action in the outer territories, either expanding our domain or quelling rebellions. He's allowed to refuse summons from both you and Lord Cold."
Frieza's tone turned frigid. "My brother seeks power, not authority. And I doubt there's anything on this planet that could pique his interest."
"But you are Lord Cooler's younger brother," Berryblue said, eyes narrowing with a hint of meaning. "If you truly ask it of him, he'll likely come. Didn't he already send his elite special unit to Earth in support of your mission? They're among the finest troops in the entire universe."
Frieza's eye twitched slightly, a trace of discomfort flashing across his face.
Suddenly remembering something, he asked, "Is Captain Ginyu getting used to his new translator?"
Berryblue nodded with a pleasant smile. "Captain Ginyu has adapted well. With his top-tier combat talent, once he finds a suitable body, he'll surely become one of your most powerful warriors again."
Frieza's lips twitched as if forced into a smile. "What's your opinion of Ginyu's personality?"
Berryblue said enthusiastically, "He's lively, full of spirit, and absolutely loyal to you, my lord!"
"R-Really?" Frieza's eyes quivered, and the smile on his face began to stiffen.
Berryblue gave him a curious look. "What's wrong, my lord? Is there a problem?"
"…No, nothing." Frieza downed the rest of his drink and sighed softly.
Just then, a soldier stepped forward. "Lord Frieza, what should we do with the capsule we captured?"
The creature inside the pod was still dormant, not moving in the slightest.
"This is the Cell Max that Mr. Levos spoke of? I can indeed sense our race's energy from it," Frieza said, eyes narrowing. He glanced around. "Take it back. Let Kikono study it."
"Yes, my lord!"
The soldiers began loading the incubation pod.
…
From the clouds above, Levos quietly watched the scene unfold.
Cell Max had fallen into Frieza's hands.
His brows furrowed deeply as countless thoughts raced through his mind.
Just then, a group of Frieza Force soldiers began flying in his direction.
It was probably the Dragon Ball on his person that gave away his location.
Levos sighed and grabbed Gamma 1 by the collar, teleporting away.
Following Gamma 1's directions, Levos finally met Dr. Hedo in person.
Looking at the round-faced little scientist before him, Levos couldn't help but frown.
Dr. Hedo wore a white lab coat over a full-body skintight suit, which only made his plump figure look rounder.
Levos didn't bother with pleasantries. He went straight to the point. "Dr. Hedo, Cell Max has been taken by Frieza's forces. Our operation has failed."
But Dr. Hedo just grinned confidently. "You're Levos, right? You seem overly worried about Cell Max."
Levos said seriously, "Maybe you're underestimating just how terrifying his power really is."
"I've already said, Cell Max has strength but no mind. Plus, I intentionally designed a fatal weak point. As long as your beam hits it, he'll die instantly," Hedo said with unwavering confidence.
"But what if he gains intelligence?" Levos warned. "What if he starts thinking like a warrior, calculating, cunning? How do we fight him then?"
"That's impossible," Hedo said, clearly startled. But after a moment's thought, he admitted, "If what you say is true, then yes, things could get complicated. Alright then, I'll assign both Gamma Androids to assist you."
Gamma 1 was surprised. "Gamma 2's damage has been repaired?"
Hedo beamed with pride. "Thankfully, during my time with the Red Ribbon Army, I stockpiled plenty of spare parts. Fixing him wasn't much trouble."
Just then, a blue blur descended from the sky.
"Hey, Gamma 1! Long time no see. Bet you didn't expect me to be back in action, huh?" Gamma 2 grinned.
Levos raised an eyebrow, genuinely surprised to see him fully restored.
"Did you forget who nearly got himself killed because he was too careless?" Gamma 1 scolded with a stern face, though the joy in his eyes was obvious.
Gamma 2 laughed. "You know I just got a little cocky! Next time I see that shorty, I'll be way more careful."
He then slapped Levos on the shoulder and grinned. "Leave the suicide missions to us. We were made to fight for justice, after all."
Levos fell silent.
His short time with Android 16 had already begun to blur the lines in his mind between machine and man.
And these two Gamma androids, personality-wise, were no different from real humans.
Still, Levos didn't dwell on it.
He nodded with a faint smile. "Don't worry. I'd never send a comrade to their death unless there's truly no other choice."
With Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 joining the cause, Levos now had two powerful new allies.
"Gamma 1, go recharge," Gamma 2 said, giving him a push. "Looks like we've got a lot of tough fights ahead."
Suddenly, several white streaks tore through the sky.
"They really don't give up, do they?" Levos sensed it at once. Frieza Force soldiers were heading straight for them.
He wasn't sure if Bulma had completed the signal-jamming device, but until the Dragon Balls were fully masked, it was dangerous to act freely.
Gamma 2 had also noticed the incoming enemies.
He grinned and volunteered, "I'll go deal with them!"
