Dragon Ball: I Became Cell in a Doomed Future

Chapter 52: Chapter 52: Trunks Joins the Fight

"Wait!" Levos suddenly spoke up. "We should just leave immediately."

This place was too close to West City. If Frieza was hiding among the pursuing soldiers, their group could be walking straight into a trap.

Just as Levos was about to teleport away with the others, a shadowy figure appeared, stepping between them and the approaching soldiers.

Without saying a word, the figure raised both hands and launched a massive ki blast, engulfing all the pursuers in its explosive light.

Boom!

A blinding white flash tore across the sky as the entire area was consumed by the explosion.

In an instant, every single soldier was annihilated. There wasn't even ash left behind.

"Who is that?" Levos's eyes narrowed in surprise, his teleportation halted mid-action.

The mysterious figure scanned the battlefield, then slowly turned to face them.

Their gazes met.

Levos was surprised to see the figure was fully wrapped in layers of clothing, face hidden behind a scarf, leaving only a strand of teal-blue hair peeking out from the forehead.

Judging by the build and clothing, it was clearly a man.

"This guy... He ambushed Frieza in West City."

"You know him?" Gamma 1 asked curiously from the side.

Levos hesitated, then replied uncertainly, "Maybe. But he shouldn't be here."

The mysterious warrior nodded slightly to Levos, then calmly began flying toward them.

The Gamma androids instantly positioned themselves in front of Dr. Hedo, protective and alert. Gamma 1 spoke up, wary, "What do you want?"

Even from a distance, the stranger answered coolly, "I'm searching for the Dragon Balls."

Hearing that, Levos immediately grew cautious.

Then he noticed the emblem stitched on the man's sleeve.

His pupils contracted in shock.

It was the Capsule Corporation logo.

The man's identity was becoming clear.

"Are you with the Red Ribbon Army? Or Frieza's forces?" the man asked, now floating before them, one palm glowing with energy and aimed directly at Levos.

"Both of them are our enemies," Levos replied calmly, raising an eyebrow.

"You... all of you are androids?" the man glanced at the group, voice serious.

"That's right," Gamma 2 replied without hesitation.

The energy sphere in the man's palm grew brighter, charged and ready.

Levos and the Gammas instantly raised energy shields, shielding Dr. Hedo behind them.

"I'm Levos. And you are?" Levos asked, his tone curious, eyeing the figure closely.

"You don't need to know," the stranger replied coldly. "Just hand over the Dragon Balls. Don't resist."

"You're Trunks, aren't you?" Levos asked, not a question, but a certainty.

The mysterious man froze for a beat, then pulled down his scarf. "How do you know me?"

It really was Trunks.

But this only confused Levos more.

"This timeline already has a Trunks. I'm very familiar with his energy," Levos explained steadily. "Yours feels almost identical."

"You've met Trunks?" Trunks frowned.

"Of course. Goku, Bulma, and the others too they're my allies," Levos replied honestly.

The energy in Trunks's palm dissipated. He looked slightly shaken. "So... the other me and my mom are still alive?"

Levos dropped the shield and, after a moment of thought, said, "Not exactly."

Trunks stiffened. "What do you mean?"

"Goku and Trunks are dead," Levos said solemnly, "but to combat the threat of Babidi and Frieza's forces, Bulma and I asked Fortuneteller Baba to bring them back from the Other World for twenty-four hours."

He then gave a quick, condensed summary of everything the Dragon Balls, their allies, and the situation they were facing.

"I am Trunks," the man finally said. "I come from another timeline... one that was completely erased."

His expression was bitter, haunted. "That world was filled with hopelessness."

Levos understood immediately.

This was the Future Trunks who had faced the Zamasu Crisis.

A timeline wiped out by Zeno himself.

"I see," Levos said softly. "Then this time, let's protect this world together."

Trunks nodded firmly. "What do you plan to wish for with the Dragon Balls?"

Levos wasn't sure which version of the Dragon Balls they were dealing with.

He paused to think. "Probably to revive the allies we lost."

Trunks suddenly thought of something. "Maybe we could use Shenron to find Lord Beerus and ask him to help us solve Earth's crisis."

"Lord Beerus no longer exists," Levos said quietly, then immediately told Trunks about the death of Shin, the Supreme Kai.

Trunks's face fell into despair.

"It sounds like we need to exchange information," Levos suggested. "But we should do it somewhere safer. Everyone, hold on to me."

Far in the distance, a massive swarm of figures was heading their way. Frieza's army was mobilized in full force.

One by one, they each placed a hand on Levos's back.

Whoosh!

In the blink of an eye, they reappeared on soft, warm sand.

"This is Kame House?" Levos muttered.

Just then, a black-haired woman flew straight into Trunks's arms.

"Mai, we've found new allies. And... Mom's still alive," Trunks told her with a bright, rare smile.

Levos formally introduced his team to Trunks and Mai.

The information exchange began, though Trunks had little new intel most of what he knew, Levos already did.

"What? Besides Babidi and Frieza, there are even worse threats? Cell Max, Cooler, Broly, Moro…" Trunks's brow furrowed deeper and deeper until it finally just flattened into numb disbelief. "Levos, how have you managed to keep going through all of this?"

The moment Zamasu was mentioned, Levos winced internally.

That guy didn't want to blow up planets. No, he wanted to wipe out all mortals in the universe.

He didn't even respect other gods. He was the kind of final boss who couldn't be reasoned with at all.

Zamasu was born to be the enemy of every protagonist. Utterly unshakable in his ideology.

And without Beerus in this timeline, there was a very real chance he'd show up here too.

"I've got no news on Zamasu for now," Levos said grimly.

"Levos, I truly admire your determination. To hold on like this in such a world..." Trunks said with heartfelt respect.

Even Dr. Hedo and the Gamma androids were moved by Levos's quiet resilience.

Levos gave a tired smile and exhaled. "I've said this before I was just trying to survive at first. But..."

He paused, then looked Trunks dead in the eyes.

"Just like you once etched the word 'HOPE' on your time machine. As long as there's even the faintest sliver of hope, no matter how small, I'll keep fighting till the very end."
