c31 – Goku vs Botamo
"Hah! You should know by now that the current standard is Super Saiyan Blue. If you haven't reached that form, if you haven't even touched the realm of gods then thinking you can surpass us is just naïve," Vegeta said coolly, his arms crossed, a slight smirk on his face.
Luya nodded seriously. "Yeah… I get that."
He, too, wanted to reach Super Saiyan Blue, but the conditions just weren't there yet. Back in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, he'd asked Son Goku for guidance and tried everything. But no matter what he did, the transformation never came. It was as if some key was still missing.
So Super Saiyan Blue must require specific emotional or spiritual triggers, he realized again.
Still, Luya wasn't frustrated. I'll wait for the system's next response. Maybe completing this mission will earn me a Super Blue bloodline reward...
"Alright, enough talking. Focus on the match," Beerus barked suddenly. "Watch closely, this is your chance to study the strength of Universe 6."
Everyone immediately turned their attention to the arena.
In the ring, Goku stood facing his opponent Botamo of Universe 6. Neither spoke at first, nor did they release much energy. Both were measuring each other silently.
Finally, Goku smiled and broke the tension. "Hey! What's your name?"
Botamo replied with a steady tone, "Just call me Botamo."
"Botamo, huh... Yeah, that fits your vibe. But what I really want to see is your power!" Goku said, stretching his arms lightly, already loosening up.
"Heh! Then I won't disappoint you!" Botamo grinned. He suddenly thumped his chest several times with his thick fists, then started bouncing on his feet. His whole round body began to rhythmically vibrate, almost like a gelatinous mass in motion.
The spectators blinked, puzzled.
"What's this guy doing?" Krillin muttered from the sidelines. "Is this... dancing?"
Goku's eyes narrowed. He could tell something was off. Botamo's body was accelerating, his bouncing was becoming faster and faster, and the energy around him subtly shifted. Goku wiped a drop of sweat from his brow.
"HYAH!"
With a sharp shout, Botamo suddenly launched himself high—easily ten meters into the air and came down like a missile aimed straight at Goku!
Eyes wide, Goku sidestepped the first strike in an instant. Botamo slammed down on the arena with surprising force, but he was already rebounding. He charged again.
He's fast for his size! Goku thought, weaving around the bear-like fighter's bulky attacks. Then, without warning, Botamo spun and appeared directly behind him.
Goku's face tightened. He turned, extended his palm
WHAM!
With a sudden pulse of ki, Goku caught Botamo mid-lunge and briefly halted his momentum. Before Botamo could recover, Goku launched a powerful kick, sending him soaring high into the air.
FWOOOM!
Goku's figure vanished and reappeared above Botamo in the next second, his fist drawn back.
"Let's see how durable you really are!"
BAM!
Goku delivered a solid blow, sending Botamo crashing down like a comet.
BOOM!!
The arena thundered from the impact but surprisingly, it didn't crack. A thick cloud of dust kicked up around the crater.
But then
BOINK!
Botamo's rubbery body bounced right back up like a spring-loaded toy, wobbling in midair!
"Oh! That's awesome! He's totally fine?!" Goku said from above, both surprised and impressed.
After Botamo was hit, his face twisted in irritation. The next moment, he opened his mouth wide at Goku and blue ki blasts began pouring out like a machine gun, rapid and unrelenting, flying toward Goku like a rainstorm of energy!
Goku's expression sharpened, and he immediately used his high-speed movement to dodge!
Botamo, relentless, tracked Goku's motion across the arena and kept spewing energy blasts without restraint—like he had an endless supply of power!
"Ha!!" Goku suddenly shouted. He raised one hand and fired a small ki blast of his own, intercepting Botamo's barrage in midair. The blasts collided and erupted into a flurry of explosions!
Without letting up, Goku countered with a stream of energy attacks, mimicking Vegeta's aggressive long-range style!
The air cracked from the intensity. But despite the pressure, Botamo didn't falter. He moved with spring-like agility, bouncing across the arena in erratic directions to evade, as if his entire body was built to absorb and redirect force!
Goku's eyes narrowed. In the blink of an eye, he vanished and reappeared behind Botamo, both hands glowing.
"Take this!" he shouted, firing a burst of concentrated ki directly at his opponent's back.
BOOM!!
A violent explosion rocked the arena, thick smoke rising and swirling over the entire platform!
"Awesome! Direct hit!!" Krillin and the others on the sidelines erupted with cheer.
"No," Vegeta and Luya both said in unison.
Luya kept his arms folded, calm. In Dragon Ball logic, the more dramatic the smoke, the less likely the attack did anything. Sure enough
As the dust settled, Botamo's body emerged completely unharmed.
Goku blinked in disbelief. "No way… I hit him point-blank, and he didn't take any damage?!"
Botamo grinned and crossed his arms. "That's all?"
Goku's expression shifted from surprise to admiration. "As expected of Universe 6's warriors... You guys are something else."
Just then, Botamo's eyes flashed with a faint blue light, and he let out a sudden roar blasting another wave of ki attacks at Goku, even denser than before!
Goku grunted, forced to dodge once again. But this time, he didn't retreat instead, he closed the distance between them, weaving between the blasts and inching closer.
"Hmph! That Universe 7 Saiyan doesn't look so impressive to me," Champa scoffed from the spectator stand, watching with clear disdain.
"Haha…" Frost smiled subtly, his eyes gleaming as he observed Goku's movements.
"Lord Champa," Vados chimed in calmly, "don't underestimate them. The Saiyans may not be refined, but they're infamous as a warrior race. Their combat instincts are formidable."
"Tch. Whatever," Champa muttered dismissively.
Back in the ring, Goku finally closed the gap and threw a heavy punch directly into Botamo's gut!
BOOM!
The impact compressed Botamo's belly inward like a rubber balloon but Goku's face changed.
"Hahaha! What's the matter? That tickled! Did you skip lunch or something?" Botamo taunted with a mocking laugh.
Goku narrowed his eyes and grinned back. "Then let's try this!"
He shouted, powering up, and launched a barrage of punches, hammering away at Botamo's stomach repeatedly!
But Botamo barely reacted. His bouncy, elastic body seemed to absorb every blow like a sponge.
Suddenly, Botamo swung a massive fist and landed a direct hit on Goku's jaw sending him sliding backward across the arena!
"Oof!" Goku grunted, flipping upright with a clean kip-up. He wiped his mouth and muttered, "What kind of body is this guy using?"
Botamo chuckled proudly. "My body's built with elastic ki absorption. You can't hurt me with brute force!"
Goku now wore a more serious expression.
In the stands, sweat trickled down several foreheads. "How do you fight someone who doesn't feel pain?" Yamcha said with disbelief.
Luya remained quiet. He knew the key would present itself so he didn't interfere.
Vegeta, however, growled impatiently. "What the hell are you doing, Kakarot? That fat blob is nothing! Just use your head for once!"
Then he stood up and shouted toward the ring: "Kakarot! TRY THINKING FOR A CHANGE!"
Goku paused mid-step, blinking. Then his eyes lit up.
"Got it! I'll use my head!"
With that, he charged directly at Botamo!
Botamo smirked and braced himself for another punch.
WHAM!
Goku slammed his forehead into Botamo's belly headbutting him with full force!

Vegeta stood up, face turning red with rage. "YOU IDIOT!! I SAID USE YOUR HEAD, NOT LITERALLY!!"
Everyone else: "…"
