Dragon Ball: Ultimate Selection System

Chapter 10: Pseudo Super Saiyan

On Pegan's spacecraft, the crew trembled in terror as they observed the rapidly climbing energy readings on their advanced power detectors. Unlike the portable scouters typically carried by fighters, these ship-based detectors were much larger and more complex. They were designed to measure power levels with unparalleled accuracy, capable of detecting energy up to a staggering 1.1 million. This limit was the pinnacle of detection technology since its invention.

Now, as Link's transformation unfolded, the numbers on the screen continued to surge beyond anything the crew had ever witnessed.

700,000...

800,000...

900,000...

1 million...

Boom!

Suddenly, a massive explosion reverberated throughout the ship. Fire sparked and alarms went off as the detector struggled to process the overwhelming power.

One of the remaining crew members, severely injured and barely holding on to consciousness, activated the ship's communicator and rasped, "L-Lord Pegan! His power... it's exceeded 1.1 million!"

"Over 1.1 million?" Pegan's voice crackled through the communicator, his usual composure replaced by disbelief. The space pirates outside, overhearing the report, froze in shock.

"1.1 million? That's impossible!"

"Besides Frieza's Clan, no one in the universe should have power like that!"

As their panic grew, a roar pierced through the space. The pirates turned their gaze back to the source of the energy spike, where Link now stood, surrounded by an intense golden aura.

His once black hair had transformed into a vibrant shade of purple-black, spiking upwards as if defying gravity.

Link exhaled deeply, his breath steady despite the immense power radiating from his body. He could feel his strength reaching a new peak, though he knew this form wasn't the legendary Super Saiyan transformation he sought.

"I've only reached the Mimic Super Saiyan stage," he thought to himself. "Even so, this power feels addictive."

"System," Link called out internally. "What's my current combat power?"

[Host's combat power: 3.9 million," the system responded.]

Link frowned. By his estimate, even this incomplete transformation should have amplified his power at least tenfold. Instead, the increase was less than seven times his base power.

"System, are you sure this is correct?" he questioned.

[The system's calculations are precise," it replied without hesitation]

Pushing aside his doubts, Link shifted his focus back to the battle.

The crew of space pirates, who had moments ago been shouting and posturing, were now scrambling in a desperate attempt to escape.

"He's too strong!" one of them cried.

"This can't be real. He's not a Saiyan—he's a monster!"

"I bet he's the one who injured King Frieza! And now we've run straight into him!"

"Enough!" A booming voice silenced the panicked crowd as Pegan emerged from their ranks. The towering figure radiated authority, his sharp gaze sweeping over the cowering pirates.

"You cowards," Pegan growled. "Think for a second! How could a Saiyan reach a power level of over a million? The detectors must be malfunctioning. He's just a Saiyan monkey—"

Pegan's sentence was cut short as his eyes widened in shock. He glanced down and saw a hand poking out from his stomach. Blood dripped from the wound as the reality of what had just happened dawned on him.

Link's voice whispered coldly in his ear, "Feel it for yourself."

With a burst of energy, Link's hand emitted a blinding light that consumed Pegan entirely. The once-mighty leader, whose power of 170,000 was considered strong throughout the galaxy, disintegrated into nothingness in an instant.

The space pirates froze, paralyzed by fear. Their strongest warrior had been defeated effortlessly.

"Run! We're doomed!" one of them shouted.

"Lord Pegan was wrong—his power really is over a million!"

"This Saiyan must be the legendary Super Saiyan!"

The pirates scrambled to their ships, frantically trying to escape the nightmare before them. Engines roared as their spacecraft, still shaking from earlier damage, began to lift off.

"You're not going anywhere," Link muttered, his golden aura flaring once more.

Concentrating his energy, he channeled it into a single point before releasing a massive beam of golden light.

The energy shot forward like a comet, obliterating the fleeing ships in an instant. The sky lit up with fiery explosions, and when the smoke cleared, no trace of the space pirates remained.

Satisfied, Link allowed his aura to fade as he returned to his normal state. Using Instant Transmission, he teleported back to Broly, who was waiting nearby.

"King Link!" Broly exclaimed, rushing to him.

Link smiled warmly, placing a hand on Broly's shoulder. "It's done," he said before turning to Nail. "That should count as keeping my promise, right? When we meet the Grand Elder, make sure to vouch for me."

Nail nodded, though he couldn't hide his amazement. Years ago, Link had promised to protect the Namekians three times in exchange for the Grand Elder unlocking his latent potential and granting him three wishes from the Dragon Balls. At the time, Nail had doubted the Saiyan's ability to uphold such a bold promise. But now, seeing Link's incredible power firsthand, those doubts were long gone.

Using Instant Transmission once more, Link, Broly, and Nail arrived at the Grand Elder's residence. Several Namekian elders were already there, anxiously discussing the recent pirate attack. Their conversation ceased abruptly when the trio appeared.

"The danger has passed," the Grand Elder announced. "Saiyan Link has eliminated the space pirates. Return to your villages and reassure your people."

The elders, familiar with Link from his year-long stay on Namek, bowed respectfully before departing.

As the room cleared, the Grand Elder turned to Link and smiled. "You've done well, Saiyan. You've proven yourself worthy of the power I unlocked within you."

Link nodded, gratitude evident in his expression.
