Dragon Ball: Ultimate Selection System

Chapter 11: Return To Planet Vegeta

The elders from each Namekian village departed, leaving only the Great Elder's loyal guard, Nail, to oversee the scene.

As silence filled the room, the Great Elder's attention turned to Link, his ancient eyes glowing with wisdom.

"Young Saiyan," he said, his voice deep with admiration. "Your strength surpasses anything I could have ever imagined."

"Tell me," the Great Elder continued. "In these past five years, have you achieved the legendary transformation—becoming a Super Saiyan?"

Broly, standing nearby, asked. "Super Saiyan? What's that?"

Link smiled faintly and replied, "Not yet, but I'm very close."

The Great Elder nodded knowingly. "I see. It seems I was right to place my trust in you. Without your intervention, Namek would have faced a catastrophe beyond recovery."

"You don't need to thank me," Link said firmly. "I merely fulfilled the promise I made to you."

Then, Link shifted his tone. "But I've come to say goodbye. Great Elder, I plan to take Broly back with me. Once we're gone, summon the dragon and use one of your wishes to create a communicator capable of contacting me at any time. Should Namek face another crisis, I will return without hesitation."

The Great Elder's face softened with gratitude. "You are a man of your word, young Saiyan. The Namekian people will forever remember your friendship and kindness."

Turning to Broly, Link placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Broly, it's time to say goodbye. It might be a long time before we return."

Broly's expression clouded with regret. "Goodbye, Great Elder. Goodbye, Uncle Nail."

Nail, who rarely displayed emotion, allowed a small smile to cross his face. "Goodbye, Broly. Don't neglect your training, no matter where you go."

Before the two Saiyans departed, Nail handed Link a small, finely crafted flute. "This is the Flute of Tranquility, made with the power of Porunga as you requested. Over the past year, Broly's control over his emotions has improved significantly, and I haven't needed to use it. Now that you're leaving, it's better that you keep it."

Link accepted the flute, understanding its importance. While Broly had proven his loyalty, the untamed power of the legendary Saiyan bloodline always carried the risk of overwhelming him. With this flute, Link had a safeguard against the worst-case scenario.

Placing two fingers on his forehead, Link glanced at the Namekians one last time. "Take care, everyone."

In a flash, the two Saiyans vanished.

As the wind settled, the Great Elder sighed deeply. "Nail," he said, his voice grave, "summon the elders and prepare to call the dragon."

Nail hesitated. "Great Elder… is that necessary?"

The Great Elder nodded solemnly. "I have a feeling that while this crisis has passed, Namek's true challenges are far from over. Link is right—we need a means to summon him if the time comes."

Though Nail wanted to protest, he held his tongue. The warriors who had attacked today were unlike anything he could face alone. Despite his pride as the strongest Namekian, he knew he wasn't enough to protect their planet from the terrors lurking in the universe.

---

Five years ago, with the help of Porunga, Link had moved Planet Vegeta to the farthest edge of the universe. This secluded location, far from the chaos of the universe, had brought peace to the Saiyan race.

Before embarking on his journey to merge the legendary Saiyan bloodline, Link entrusted Planet Vegeta's leadership to King Vegeta, implementing a five-year plan to rebuild and strengthen their people. Under this plan, all Saiyans were forbidden from leaving the planet to avoid revealing its new location.

As Link and Broly approached Planet Vegeta, they expected to find a world brimming with life and energy. Instead, they were greeted by a barren wasteland.

The once-vibrant skies were shrouded in dark clouds, the earth cracked and dry. Withered trees and scattered bones was the only things left .

"King Link," Broly said, his voice trembling with confusion, "is Planet Vegeta supposed to look like this?"

Though Broly had no memories of his homeworld, Link knew better. His heart sank. Something was terribly wrong.

Before he could speak, Links sensed an immense aura in the distance, emanating from the Saiyan capital. The sheer size of the energy startled him—it was stronger than his current power level.

"What is this?" Link muttered. "Could Frieza be alive and found Planet Vegeta?"

"No," he realized. "The energy feels… different. It's powerful, but strange."

At that moment, Broly tugged at his arm. "Brother Link, look over there! I can feel a lot of weaker energies gathered together."

Links followed Broly's gaze, spotting a cluster of small auras in the distance. Compared to the massive energy in the capital, these were faint, they seemed to belong to Saiyans.

"Let's check it out," Link said, taking off toward the source of the energy.

As they flew, the devastation below became increasingly apparent. Everywhere they looked, the land was lifeless and empty.

"What happened here?" Link thought, his anger building.

They arrived at a barren mountain range, where the faint auras seemed to have gathered. But at first glance, there was nothing there.

"Are we mistaken?" Broly asked, puzzled.

"No," Link said, narrowing his eyes. "Follow me."

With a burst of energy, he dove into one of the mountains, smashing through the rock. Behind the mountain's exterior, a hidden cavern came into view, revealing a group of Saiyans—mostly children—huddled together, protected by a handful of adult women.

The young Saiyans gasped in fear as Link appeared.

Before Links could speak, a small figure shot into the air, fists clenched.

"Leave now!" the boy yelled. "I'll take care of him!"

Link smiled faintly. "Vegeta?" he thought, recognizing the child's spiky hair and fiery attitude.

The other children cried out. "Prince Vegeta!"

Before Vegeta's punch could land, Broly stepped forward, effortlessly catching the attack. The raw strength of the legendary Saiyan bloodline forced Vegeta to grit his teeth in frustration.

"Let me go!" Vegeta shouted. "I am the prince of all Saiyans!"

Link chuckled, his mind racing with questions. What had happened to Planet Vegeta? And who—or what—was the source of the enormous energy in the capital?
