Dragon Ball: Ultimate Selection System

Chapter 2: Saiyan King's Rebellion

When Link first discovered that he had obtained the System, he was overjoyed.

As expected, he had also received the standard golden finger. However, after reviewing the three options offered by the system, his face turned ashen.

"Damn it! What are these three choices? They're far more twisted than the generous starter packages others receive.

Frieza, the Supreme Kai, and the God of Destruction—am I really expected to face these foes when my combat power isn't even above 10,000?"

Link nearly abandoned the system's offer, but its response was immediate and unforgiving:

*"The mission cannot be abandoned. You must choose one of the options and complete it before Planet Vegeta is destroyed, or else..!"*

Gritting his teeth, Link chose the first option without hesitation. Of the three, only Frieza presented even a glimmer of a challenge he might overcome. He knew that in the Dragon Ball world, crises were constant—even a Super Saiyan could be overpowered at times.

But if he could awaken the legendary Saiyan blood and prove the strength of his heritage, he would be capable of overcoming any obstacle.

Thus, Link dedicated the next four years to training, determined to defeat Frieza before Planet Vegeta met its fate. According to the system, the timeline was in 733 A.D., a mere four years before the planet's destruction.

With Kakarot aka Goku not yet born and Prince Vegeta still only a year old, allies were few and far between. Facing Frieza under these conditions was nearly impossible. Yet, after carefully analyzing the situation, Link realized that to stand a chance he needed to raise his combat power to at least 60,000 and win the support of every Saiyan.

Determined, Link left on a mission and wandered the universe alone in search of a shortcut to power. During the first year, he trained relentlessly. His body possessed a combat power of only 2,000—the typical level for a low-ranking Saiyan warrior.

Though only 14 years old, he endured many hardships and managed to raise his power to 10,000—a far cry from the 60,000 he wanted.

In his second year, accepting that his natural talents did not match those of Kakarot or Vegeta, Link set his sights on Namek. But with his strength, challenging the Namekians, who were under Nail's protection, was out of the question. His true objective became to meet Guru, the revered Namekian elder known for unlocking hidden potential.

In the original lore, Guru had once magnified the strength of warriors like Krillin and Goku many times over. If Link could secure Guru's aid, his goal might finally be within reach.

After locating Namek, Link journeyed there without delay and spent another year on the planet. As part of the Saiyan race with a notorious reputation across the universe, his arrival sparked immediate alarm.

The Namekians, seeing him as a potential invader, attacked without warning. Even after he explained his genuine intent, their skepticism reminded—they insisted that if he wished to meet Guru, he must first pass their trials.

For a full year, Link endured a series of tests in wisdom, courage, and combat. In time, he won their reluctant trust, met Guru, and established a relationship.

Under Guru's guidance, his latent potential was unlocked, and his combat power soared to over 100,000. In four arduous years, Link had transformed from a low-level warrior into a Saiyan of formidable strength.

Seated on the throne and recalling the long journey, Link addressed the gathered Saiyans with steady resolve:

"Everyone, I understand some of you may doubt my right to rule. But as tradition dictates, I have only just claimed the throne and will take one week to rest. After that week, if any of you defeat me, you may depose and even kill me. Until then, my orders are final."

He continued, "First, today's events are to remain among us Saiyans. Under no circumstances should anyone inform Frieza that our king has changed. Second, I order all mid-ranking warriors to immediately eliminate every subordinate of Frieza on Planet Vegeta—leave only a communications officer to assure Frieza that all is well. No information is to leak in the coming days!"

A muffled voice arose from beneath the throne—King Vegeta had awakened, lying stunned on the ground. "Link, what on earth are you planning?" he demanded.

Link met the gaze of his fallen predecessor and replied simply, "I will lead all the Saiyans in rebellion against Frieza."

In that moment, the assembled Saiyans stood in stunned silence. Betraying Frieza—the cosmic emperor ruling over the universe—was unthinkable.

Yet, despite the lingering doubts among them, the king's orders were absolute.

And so, on that fateful day, Link's secret plan for a Saiyan rebellion was set into motion.
