Dragon Ball: Ultimate Selection System

Chapter 5: The 2nd Selection

[Host, do you want to fuse the Legendary Super Saiyan bloodline?]

After transforming from a giant ape back into the humanoid form, the system's voice sounded again in Link's mind.

"System, are there any side effects of merging bloodlines?" Link asked.

[The legendary Super Saiyan bloodline has a physique that grows stronger with increased injury—the more severe the injury, the greater the strength will become! In order to obtain this power, the host body must be modified.]

"How long will it take to modify?"

[Just 5 years!]

What do you mean just!? It actually takes five years?!

Hearing this, Link did not answer immediately but looked behind him.

After the battle, the Saiyans gradually returned to their normal form. Looking at the spot where Frieza's spaceship once stood, the Saiyans were extremely excited.

"We killed that tyrant!"

"Saiyans are invincible!"

"Long live King Link!"

At first, many still doubted the idea of attacking Frieza. But once Frieza was truly eliminated, the inherent arrogance of the Saiyan spirit exploded.

Seeing these happy and carefree Saiyans, Link knew it was not time to celebrate yet.

Although Frieza was temporarily eliminated and the destruction of Planet Vegeta was prevented, could Frieza really be dead?

Link, who knew the story all too well, was aware of the terrifying vitality of the Frozen Demon Clan. Although they do not possess regenerative abilities like the Namekians, there is still a possibility that a member of the clan can be resurrected even if shattered to pieces.

Even if Frieza were truly dead, one must not forget that besides him, there is also his father—King Cold—and an mysterious older brother, Cooler. These individuals might one day rise to avenge Frieza.

For this reason, Link had to make arrangements; otherwise, when he awoke in five years, Planet Vegeta might already be destroyed.

SO...

"System, the bloodline will not be fused for the time being; await my order."

[Clear...]

While complying, the system issued a new selection :

[Ding! Detecting the host's sense of crisis and triggering the ultimate selection choices!]

[Choice 1: Give up Planet Vegeta and become a wandering Saiyan. Reward: Title – Lonely King of Saiyans. Effect: Combat Power +1 Million.]

[Choice 2: Chase down the Frozen Demon Clan within a limited time. Reward: Obtain a Frozen Demon Clan servant.]

[Choice 3: Protect Planet Vegeta and establish the Saiyan Empire. Reward:Kai Kai.]

[Friendly reminder from the system: this selection's reward will be issued in advance, but if the host does not act, it will be wiped out!]

Unexpectedly, just as the previous choice was completed, a new choice appeared. Looking at the three choices given by the system, Link began to think.

He immediately eliminated the first option—which offered only 1 million combat power— once he fused the legendary Super Saiyan bloodline, that power would be easily gained.

The second option looked promising; it seemed to suggest making a member of the Frozen Demon Clan (like Frieza) his subordinate.

However, after further thought, Link decided to eliminate it. This choice actually contained a trap. There was a time limit to hunt down the Frozen Demon Clan.

How long was that limit? If it was five years, wouldn't that mean he would have just awoken from his deep sleep and the time would be up?

Moreover, if he didn't merge with bloodline to accomplish his mission, how could he hunt down the clan?

Therefore, Link could only choose the third option.

"System, Choice 3!"

[Ding! Congratulations on the successful selection, host. The reward has been delivered! Next, please protect Planet Vegeta. Once Planet Vegeta is destroyed, the host will…!]

Glup!

Scary thought..

At the same time, Link immediately gained the knowledge of how to perform the technique. This teleportation ability is slightly different from Goku's, it can directly reach any planet in the universe without needing to gather energy, but it cannot pinpoint a person. It also allows teleportation without needing to lock onto an energy signature.

Making it better than instant transmission.

In other words, Link can now move around the universe at will instead of wasting precious time on spaceflight as in the past.

Even Namek, which he had visited before, was now reachable in an instant.

Next, it was time to prepare to fuse the legendary Super Saiyan bloodline. He must set up polices for Planet Vegeta for the next 5 years to ensure that his race of vegetables will not face destruction again before he awakens.

Soon after, on Planet Vegeta inside the king's palace—while outside, the Saiyans were celebrating the defeat the Universe Emperor with a carnival, enjoying unlimited meat.

Link, the greatest contributor to the victory, summoned three Saiyans: King Vegeta, Bardock, and Paragus.

Link would enter a five-year seclusion. During those five years, to ensure that Planet Vegeta was not lost, he had already devised a plan, though that plan alone was not secure enough.

It must be said that the Saiyans are a pretty flawed race; in the universe, their average strength is not considered strong. Since without their transformations they are inherently weak. Many races are naturally much stronger than the Saiyans, yet Saiyans claim to be a fighting race.

In five years, Link could ensure that no enemy would come to their door, but it was difficult to guarantee that the Saiyans themselves would not fall into chaos. Therefore, he needed someone to control the overall situation during this period.

Link considered the former King Vegeta and the elite warrior Bardock to be the most suitable candidates.

King Vegeta was popular, while Bardock possessed the calm judgment and a touch of humanity that the Saiyans lacked, as well as abilities from the Kanasa people.

With both of them, there was a high probability that the Saiyans' ambitions could be restrained and that no further trouble would arise.

As for Paragus...

This man himself had no notable abilities, but his son Broly was a ticking time bomb hidden on Planet Vegeta.

Broly, only 1 year old, already had a combat power of 10,000. In five years, this child would grow into an extremely powerful Saiyan—but he also posed great danger. If not managed carefully, he might even destroy Planet Vegeta.

Therefore, Link's plan was to send Broly to another place where he could grow up peacefully.

According to the plot, as long as Broly was not angered, he was essentially like any other child, he was filial, and valued friendship—his personality was very similar to that of Goku.

But he was not suited to live among violent Saiyans instead would be more comfortable with peaceful races.

After appointing Paragus as a commanding officer of the Saiyan Legion—making him the third key figure after King Vegeta and Bardock following Link's departure—Link had successfully managed Broly's potential danger.

As for Link's intentions, Paragus had no doubts about him. After all, without Link's intervention, the father and son would have been exiled by King Vegeta by now.
