Chapter 76: Chapter 76: Kaido — “This Person in Front of Me Seems to Be Able to Kill Me with One Punch!”
Whitebeard looked at his sons solemnly. "Now you understand what I told you."
Marco and the others recalled their father's words—that the strange man they faced might come from the same place as Mr. Krillin. And now here he was, proving the warning true.
"Dad," Marco asked, looking between Whitebeard and Ace, "do you mean this person is from the Thugs group, the one who rescued Krillin?"
Whitebeard nodded, and Ace confirmed. Before joining the Whitebeard Pirates, Marco and the crew had been pirates and even former Thugs. But they hadn't known about this mysterious group—an interdimensional collective of powerful fighters.
"Thugs?"
Marco's brow furrowed. In the pirate world, a thug was just a rough criminal. But this group... was something else entirely.
Whitebeard's expression grew grave. "The Thugs are very mysterious and extremely powerful. They saved Krillin—'Zero One Zero', as he's called—and it's because of Mr. Krillin that we pulled off that rescue and inflicted a heavy blow on the navy."
"When I said I didn't want to join forces with Kaido," Whitebeard continued, "it was because I feared the navy would call in help from these Thugs. Both Ace and I have already received it."
The crew nodded in understanding.
"It makes sense now why you refused Kaido's proposal so quickly," Marco said. "If the navy can call in Thugs, and we side with Kaido, we could be annihilated."
Whitebeard sighed. "Yes. In someone else's eyes, annihilating us would be as casual as breathing. Look at how easily Mr. Krillin killed Akainu."
The sea was calm for a moment before Sengoku's entourage appeared again. Marines and pirates were backing away, clearing the battlefield for the final act.
In the center stood Vegeta—alone, small, frighteningly still. On Kaido's side were the remnants of his pirate fleet.
"Who are you?" Kaido snarled, facing Vegeta. "Are you an ally of the Navy?"
Big Mom scoffed. In her view, Vegeta was insignificant—just a curiosity, a toy blocking her path to challenge the Navy herself.
Furious, she cocked her fists and unleashed her devil-fruit power, surrounding her hand in crackling flame and lightning.
Vegeta remained motionless.
Onlookers gasped—as they braced for the inevitable.
But Vegeta didn't dodge. He looked up and sneered.
Big Mom struck—but Vegeta, standing casually, extended a single finger.
Her colossal fist crashed into the tip, and... halted.
A single tap.
The flames and electricity shattered against that tiny finger. Vegeta didn't budge—not a hair on his head moved.
Shock rippled through the stands.
"How?! That punch… was supposed to crush him!" the pirates screamed in disbelief.
Even the Navy marines exchanged startled glances. Here was a man powerful enough to block Big Mom's fully powered strike with a flick of his finger.
The energy around her punch fizzled and cracked, recoiling like a wave hitting a cliff edges. Big Mom stumbled, stunned.
"Stronger than even Garp…" someone murmured.
Big Mom retaliated, swinging again—but Vegeta tapped her punch. The contact unleashed a shockwave that threw her backward, through her own fleet. Ships exploded, sailors disappeared into the wreckage.
"Such a small guy... how does he possess such power?!" pirates gasped and backed away.
Vegeta shot her a grin. "Keep your tricks coming—none will stop me."
His speed was terrifying—he advanced to Big Mom, motions so fast they blurred.
"Show me everything you've got. I'm on vacation, after all."
Big Mom turned furious, launching another ferocious blast—but it didn't matter. She had already lost control.
---
Watching the carnage, Kaido smirked. Counting on overwhelming numbers, she had intended to wear Vegeta down—but even that had failed spectacularly.
This man before him... this small, quiet youth... well, he had just destroyed a Four Emperor. And Kaido recognized strength.
Silence. Then, a roar.
"My turn."
Kaido exhaled, and transformed into a massive blue dragon. The sea churned as he took flight.
Vegeta observed him coolly.
"A human turning into a dragon? How quaint."
Kaido launched himself skyward, aiming for a strike. But Vegeta simply turned and left—unpursued.
Below, Big Mom's great pirate fleet lay in chaos. Fires flared, ships sank, the ocean was littered with debris.
"Brilliant," Whitebeard whispered. "Now this... this will be a story told for centuries."
Sengoku, nodding, said, "We couldn't hope to stop her. But him? He did—easily."
Kaido soared into the horizon, and Vegeta followed—eyes never leaving his target.
