Since Getsushoku had used shadow clones to disguise itself as Uchiha Madara, Danzo Shimura grew suspicious of the Uchiha clan. He tried the same old trick—barricading the Uchiha within their territory, forbidding them from helping.

But Fugaku Uchiha took a firm stand this time. He outright ignored Danzo's orders and mobilized all Uchiha shinobi to patrol everywhere.

Among them was young Itachi Uchiha himself. Seeing the Hokage Rock destroyed and innocents injured or dead tore at his heart!

Itachi felt anger rise but realized his shadow had a point.

"No, no—I don't have the right to decide someone else's fate, let alone take their life!" he shot back.

"You're doing it for his own good! Even if you kill him, it alleviates his suffering. What a noble, merciful act!" the shadow spoke, voice thick with emotion.

Itachi sighed. "Just shut up already!"

"Hokage‑sama, our sensor nin has located the enemy!" an Anbu reported to Hiruzen Sarutobi.

Hiruzen's face was stone. "Bring him back alive—no exceptions!"

As long as he's alive, even a severed head can yield intel through the Yamanaka clan!

Though Getsushoku used clones and explosives to distract some pursuers, he'd underestimated the tracking nin of Konoha.

The Technique could mask one's chakra, but through just a moment's surface exposure—by Byakugan, parasite nin, or barrier‑class sensor nin—the approximate location could be picked up despite his subterfuge.

The White Zetsu could breathe underground, but Getsushoku? He could not.

And now he was nearing the border of Konoha.

The Earth‑style jutsu shook the ground for a while, but Getsushoku remained unseen. Sensor nin immediately zeroed in.

"His chakra vanished. Nowhere to be found!" one spat. He'd never seen this vanish so completely until now.

Anbu's expression hardened.

"Sweep out from here in a carpet search. He's not survived this long and just slipped away!"

A vast number of Konoha shinobi remained held up here—while Getsushoku had long since slipped away.

He darted through the soil, holding his breath until he judged he was outside the village before surfacing.

The moment he appeared, two blurred figures came at him full speed.

"Fang to fang!"

Thanks to the trackers' penchant for shouting before attacking, Getsushoku dodged deftly.

Amid plumes of earth, he scanned—these were Inuzuka shinobi.

The Inuzuka clan's ninken weren't just for battle—they were trackers too.

He'd kill them all someday.

One Inuzuka sneered. "Give up now and save yourself the suffering."

An upper‑rank Inuzuka, aided by a ninken—stalling long enough for the main Konoha forces to arrive would seal the deal, so he looked confidently at Getsushoku.

Getsushoku's face darkened; his stance wavered. He looked exhausted, panting.

"Damn Konoha shinobi—if I'm dying, I'll drag you with me into the Pure Land!"

The Inuzuka snorted. "Big talk—got the guts?"

"Fang to fang!"

The ninken morphed into the Inuzuka's shape—man and dog spun again toward Getsushoku.

He rolled his eyes. They really liked yelling out jutsu names to telegraph their moves. Fine, suit yourselves.

Pretending fatigue, he hopped left and right, evading their onslaught in a chaotic dance.

With each step, several sticky‑clay spiders slipped from his sleeves—and before long, the Inuzuka was surrounded.

Getsushoku dropped the act and moved fluidly: "You mutt‑raised little bitch, wasting my time—pshaw!"

At that, explosive clay detonated.

The Inuzuka shinobi was only a standard upper‑rank—couldn't withstand such blast power—and collapsed immediately.

Still alive, he realized Getsushoku had been faking weakness… fury erupted.

"Scoundrel—no honor!"

He struggled to rise, determined to delay Getsushoku with his life—a true shinobi of Konoha's Will of Fire, tragic and heroic… but he'd ran into a monster.

Getsushoku stepped forward, gripped both the Inuzuka and his ninken by their necks, and slammed them into the ground.

BANG, BANG!

Skull‑shattering cracks roared. Though the Inuzuka's heartbeat lingered, Getsushoku pried open his skull—brain folds suddenly exposed.

"Looks like a walnut," Getsushoku remarked. He scooped the brain into a container and tossed it into System Space. "Wonder if anyone in the shinobi world has prion diseases… I'll experiment later."

After extracting it, he carefully replaced the skull and sealed it with explosive clay.

A nearby group of Inuzuka shinobi arrived just in time to see the two bodies—though the brain had been removed, it looked like they were only unconscious. They rushed forward.

"Wait—something isn't right!" One sniffed the air. "Hold your firestarters! Life's more important than glory—shoot that signal flare!"

Though disappointed, the others obeyed, pulling out signal flares.

Getsushoku tossed the two bodies their way.

Seeing clan members and ninken fall, they couldn't stay impassive.

Then…

BOOM!

A beautiful spray of blood and flesh bloomed into the sky.
