Dropped into Naruto, Breaking the World Apart

Chapter 148: Chapter 10 – Contact with the Akatsuki

"Quick, over here!"

The Konoha shinobi gradually gathered at the edge of the village, staring in shock at the scattered remains on the ground.

"Ah! These are... Inuzuka clan shinobi!"

"Even jōnin couldn't stop the intruder...?"

Before long, Sarutobi Hiruzen arrived at the scene, his expression dark and seething with rage. This place was far outside their previously established perimeter—whatever method the intruder had used, they'd been playing them for fools.

As Hiruzen looked upon the brutally mutilated Inuzuka shinobi, his face grew more and more grim.

This was bad. Konoha's reputation would be completely shattered this time...

The search operation continued, but it was all in vain. Not a single clue could be found.

Hiruzen didn't sleep a wink that night.

...

A few days later, in the Hokage's office, Hiruzen sat dazedly with a stack of documents in hand. Dark circles ringed his eyes, his expression vacant—his mind clearly elsewhere.

As expected, the chaos caused by Getsushoku had massive repercussions. Friendly "greetings" from Kumogakure, Iwagakure, and Sunagakure came pouring in one after another. The Daimyō of the Land of Fire was furious about the bombing of the Hokage Rock, issuing a formal reprimand with extremely harsh language.

Tch. That old bastard Ōnoki was still pretending like he didn't know anything. But Hiruzen had already confirmed it—the explosive clay used by the assailant that night was unmistakably a specialty of the Land of Earth!

He felt overwhelmed by it all. And as if that weren't enough, Danzō was being a pain again—insisting on targeting the Uchiha. All because the figure seen during Getsushoku resembled Uchiha Madara.

Danzō wouldn't let a single opportunity to strike at the Uchiha go to waste.

As for Konoha's current dilemma?

Danzō didn't care in the slightest. In his eyes, Konoha was eternally the strongest force in the shinobi world. A few minor setbacks? Nothing Hiruzen couldn't handle in a matter of minutes.

...

The sun was slowly setting, the evening glow dyed red like blood.

A horse-drawn carriage rumbled steadily along a road somewhere in the Land of Fire. The wheels crunched over gravel, sending faint tremors through the cabin.

Inside, Getsushoku idly flipped through a copy of Icha Icha Paradise. Shinobi in this world were just too conservative. A softcore book like this had somehow become a classic? What a joke—completely different from modern Japan, where the adult industry was... well-developed, to say the least.

"When I get the chance, I'll definitely bring these pure-hearted shinobi a taste of higher-dimensional impact!"

At the moment, Getsushoku had changed his appearance once again—just another forgettable face. Looking too attractive only invited unnecessary attention. Trying to become the most beautiful person in the world while on the run? That'd be asking for trouble.

The carriage gradually slowed down. The driver lifted the curtain and respectfully said,

"Sir, we've arrived at the border of the Land of Fire."

Originally, Getsushoku had requested to be taken completely out of the country, but the driver had refused. Crossing borders was a hassle, and if not for the generous payment, the driver wouldn't even have been willing to come this far.

"Appreciate it," Getsushoku replied in Orochimaru's voice as he stepped off the carriage.

"You're too kind, sir. Safe travels." The driver put on a businesslike smile and quickly turned around to leave. He failed to notice the several ghostly white spiders that had latched themselves onto his carriage...

Getsushoku gathered his long black robe around himself and looked behind him. Truthfully, he wasn't satisfied with the chaos he'd stirred up in Konoha.

As a modern man, he preferred things like "carpet bombing" and "nuclear leveling." Going on a solo killing spree was a waste of effort—and in the end, didn't even claim that many lives.

Eventually, Getsushoku arrived in the Land of Rain.

...

The skies over Amegakure were perpetually shrouded in clouds. You'd be lucky to see the sun even a few times a month. The air was damp and muggy, and staying in this kind of environment long-term probably led to a high incidence of certain illnesses.

The jutsu that covered the entire village, Rain Tiger at Will Technique, could be considered an advanced version of a surveillance jutsu—almost like an upgraded telescope. After entering the village with an umbrella, Getsushoku simply stood quietly on the side of the street, patiently waiting for the Akatsuki.

His connection to them had begun that night—when he decided to defect, Obito had just so happened to be visiting Rin Nohara's grave. Getsushoku had used explosive clay and even transformed into Uchiha Madara, successfully catching Obito's attention.

After all, Obito currently went around acting as Madara. And Getsushoku's impersonation was far too convincing—there was no way Obito would just let it go.

So Obito leaked Getsushoku's location to Konoha, and Getsushoku was chased down.

Later, Obito witnessed the brutal efficiency with which Getsushoku slaughtered the Inuzuka shinobi. He tested him further—had Getsushoku faltered, Obito might've killed him on the spot.

But what Obito didn't expect... was that Getsushoku knew the Flying Thunder God Technique.

Originally, Getsushoku hadn't intended to reveal that trump card. But plans never keep up with changes. He had to use overwhelming force to shock Obito—the bastard.

The more powerful and mysterious Getsushoku appeared, the less Obito dared to act rashly. Before long, Obito's killing intent turned into something else entirely—recruitment.

He didn't tell Getsushoku about the Eye of the Moon Plan, though. Getsushoku didn't seem like a lost lamb like Kisame—there was no way he'd buy into Infinite Tsukuyomi.

But Akatsuki was a haven for missing-nin. Obito used that angle to lure him in.

Getsushoku thought it over and agreed. After all, he was already a missing-nin—joining Akatsuki wouldn't stop him from stirring up trouble elsewhere. In most Naruto fanfics, Akatsuki was the centerpiece of all kinds of storylines. Any missing-nin worth their salt usually ended up in Akatsuki.

That said... Getsushoku had no intention of working for anyone.

Sure, he'd join Akatsuki—but on his terms.

Who worked for whom? That remained to be seen.

...

He waited quietly for a moment. The air suddenly shifted, swirling into a small vortex.

A sound cut through the skies above. Getsushoku looked up to see the clouds parting in a perfect circle, sunlight spilling through in a single beam.

From that beam, a woman with enormous wings slowly descended—divine, beautiful.

He had to admit—the special effects were impressive. No wonder the villagers of Amegakure worshipped her as an angel.

Konan landed beside Getsushoku, regarding him with a cold, expressionless gaze.

"I was sent by Madara," Getsushoku said first.

Konan remained calm, asking a few basic questions in a detached tone, then led him to meet Pain.

...

At the center of Amegakure stood a towering steel skyscraper. Pain usually stayed on the rooftop, letting the rain wash over the corpses. Getsushoku had thought Konan would fly him up there, but to his surprise, they walked the entire way.

Maybe only Nagato and Yahiko ever got to be carried by her.

The room at the top was dark and damp. In the center sat a round table, clearly a place for meetings. Pain sat there in silence, facing...
