Ice-elemental.
But melted on his own, so now he's water-elemental.

– 【Best comment】 So the true incarnation of night… was actually an incarnation of fire.
└ 【Best comment】 Or maybe it was Retaking who melted him.
– The “Incarnation Descends” message popped up and I got chills. What kind of promise was it that he used Incarnation for it?
└ No way it wasn’t a lover.
└ He’s just a fat old dude who games at home all day, like he has a lover lol.
– Honestly, I'd have melted out of pure rage too. He’s already a Harmonizer, so he’s hard to kill quickly, but then he brought in crit gear and healed like crazy...
└ LMAO fr. If it were me, I’d have just taken off my gear and laid down like, “Come kill me.”

– 【Best comment】 What’s wild is that the line isn’t made up or edited. That’s actually what he said… LOL
– 【Best comment】 [Follow-up report] Retaking: “If you used Incarnation to kill him because you loved him that much, then I’ll gladly break up with you.” Viewers went absolutely feral.
└ 【Best comment】 [Bia] Honeybread || What the hell, no

TIP – Before choosing a class, first figure out what stance suits you! If you want to be a reliable pillar your teammates can trust, go “Guardian.” If you want to overwhelm enemies with stylish, aggressive attacks, go “Destroyer.” If you want to protect allies in danger and control the battlefield, “Harmonizer” is for you!

Unless something unexpected came up, Retaking always started his stream at 9 PM. But there was one exception.
Thursday. The day Dusk went into regular maintenance. On Thursdays, Retaking made absolutely no other plans. He always streamed from 11 AM sharp so he could immediately check out any newly added story or content.
A little after eleven, he’d start the stream. Once a good number of viewers had gathered, he’d kick things off with a casual lunch mukbang. Afterward, he’d chat or play a few short games, then log into Dusk at exactly noon when the maintenance ended. That was his Thursday morning routine.
Right now, too, Retaking had just finished lunch, played a couple rounds of FPS, and was now chatting with his viewers while eating ice cream as the update patch progressed.
His face wasn’t visible, but on the screen, a person wearing a clean white cotton T-shirt could be seen. Just like the shirt, his hands were white and slender. One of those hands scooped up a big spoonful of chocolate ice cream full of chocolate chips and brought it to his mouth. After a moment of silence, he finally spoke.
"...Mistake? Hm. The biggest mistake yesterday was burning my dodge skill after getting hit with Taunt. I forgot how short the pre-cast delay gets when someone uses Incarnation. I was just unlucky, and he was lucky.”
I nodded while watching his white hand fidgeting with the spoon. Yeah, lucky. Even with the shorter delay, I had still managed to hit Taunt first by a hair. That’s how Retaking got caught.
“I mean, I’m a Medic, so in big fights I have no choice but to go up against DPS. Everyone’s out to get me. …Right. That’s why it’s rare for me to end up clashing with a Guardian in Incarnation state.”
Retaking took another big bite of ice cream. I heard the crunch of chocolate chips. Maybe because of that sound, I suddenly remembered the hamster my sister used to keep and couldn’t help but laugh.
As he chewed, he moved the mouse, closed a web browser window, and checked the update progress. It was at 84%. Almost done.
I looked away from the # Nоvеlight # stream monitor and turned to the main one on my left. Progress: 87%. I was ahead.
“Looks like it’ll be ready soon... Oh. ‘Why didn’t you use Incarnation when Honeybread did?’ I mean, I was going to lose anyway. Taking that risk just to delay my death felt excessive.”
...Seriously? Where did the guy who was fighting tooth and nail to last past 10 PM go? So I’m not worth that kind of risk anymore?
If I had Retaking’s number, I would’ve messaged him right then. “Is that all we are to you?” Ridiculous.
Retaking paused, took another scoop of ice cream. He tilted the container and scraped the bottom with his spoon. The quarter-sized tub, once filled to the brim, was gone in no time.
He didn’t even look like he had a big build. He’d already eaten a ton for lunch, and now he downed that much ice cream on top of it. Unreal. The guy goes weak for sweets.
Mesmerized, I clicked my mouse and donated 20,000 won so he could buy another tub. A moment later, he noticed and responded like it was second nature.
“Zero-nim, is this for another ice cream? Thank you.”
He really did know me too well.
I didn’t bother typing in chat, and he didn’t seem to expect a reply either. He just laughed softly to himself and polished off the ice cream.
“Anyway, to finish what I was saying—Even if I use Incarnation, a Medic can’t do anything against a Holy Guardian in that state. You might land an HP-scaling DoT to try melting them, but DoTs barely apply once they’re in Incarnation. The Harmonizer’s only tools—DoT and defensive skills—are basically useless. Even if your defense goes up, Guardians have such high penetration that it barely makes a difference.”
Moments like this really highlighted the gap between our playstyles. If it were me, I wouldn’t have even hesitated. If someone popped Incarnation just to kill me, I’d be like, “Oh? You’re going that far to kill me? Fine. I’ll die, but I’m taking you with me.” And I’d Incarnate right back.
“When I think about how I died just before 10 PM... Sure, maybe it wouldn’t have been the worst idea to use Incarnation. But at the time, it felt like a waste, so I didn’t. My judgment was off. Even if it stings, I’ve gotta accept that.”
With that, Retaking got up to throw away his empty ice cream tub. The timing was perfect.
I checked the screen again. The game’s “Start” button had lit up.
I didn’t wait. I clicked it and launched Dusk. The logo appeared in the middle of the screen, then faded to black. The familiar OST began, and the login screen came up. After choosing the server, my character appeared, eyes closed, sitting against a wall like a lifeless doll.
I double-clicked. The character slowly opened their eyes, and the loading screen came up. Beneath a gorgeous background illustration, there was a tip: “Flight studies professor Mitkernya Markerna once published a paper stating that Shina who have had their antennae removed fly less effectively than those who haven't. However, the academic world showed little interest.”
I heard Retaking talking again as he returned to his seat. At the same time, I got multiple notifications that new mail had arrived—seasonal ranking rewards.
Since his stream had gone viral, I'd blocked whispers and messages from randoms. Only GMs or people on my friends list could contact me.
My character’s title had expired, leaving the name bar above my head empty. I moved toward the mailbox outside the guild house and hit the F key. As always, the inbox was full of messages from GMs.
I was about to hit “Claim All” like usual—but the first message caught my eye. No attachments. And the sender wasn’t Lufla, the GM in charge of rewards—it was GM Shediers. The name of the divine patron of my main class. What the hell?
I clicked the mail. A long message popped up.
[To: Honeybread
From: GM Shediers
Subject: Hello, Honeybread.]
Hello, Honeybread. This is GM Shediers.
First off, thank you so much for always playing Dusk so faithfully and with such joy. (- -) (_ _) (- -)!
Did you know there will be an offline event on July 16 to celebrate our second anniversary? It hasn’t been announced yet, but during this event, we’ll be unveiling a new arena content demo for the first time—and we’d like to invite you, one of this season’s top-ranked Holy Guardians and a beloved figure in Dusk, to participate.
The arena demo will feature 1v1 ranked battles in random maps. We're gathering top players from each class and matching them up with natural counters to ensure balance and avoid class-based bias in the matches.
If you're interested in joining, please reply with your intent and your contact info. A phone number or email is fine. If you’re not interested or unavailable, we’d still appreciate a reply to let us know.
