DXD: A Necromancer's Pilgramige

Chapter 3: Chapter 2

Beef tongue sizzled even as a little black haired girl bit into the yakitori. The fish's head snapped off, even as a great rumbling grew in the distance. A pillar of azure light connected the heavens and the earth, the dozens of miles the light had to cross did not diminish its majesty.

[Your Giant Skeleton Level 55 Has Died.]

The soul darted between the narrow stalls, past the girl ignoring her entirely. With every second that passed the invisible seams grew larger. Cracks formed, as the priest fled.

An old blind woman lowered her head hidden within the shawl, and smiled like a hunting bird, "A storm is coming." The little girl stared in awe at the divine wrath. She giggled even as a similarly black haired shrine maiden slipped her hand under the girl's knees. Swept from her feet the girl simply stared past her mother's shoulder with a smile.

Even as three men dressed in robes knelt, heads smashing against the pavement as they cried tears of joy. For the gods to walk the earth, it was their greatest honor to bear witness. The wrath of the storm god recemented in his people's minds.

Forcing himself up and up the soul collapsed just above the nearest roof. He had no eyes to cry, and no mouth to scream. The cracks settled for a moment, even as the darkness grew closer in all directions. With a terrible screech his body popped back into existence ripped from his inventory.

His body seized, control shattered as his mystical energies rioted. The light granted to him by that damnable Galilei however burned as brightly as ever. Mirroring his physical condition he tried to heal his soul, but he felt like a baby fumbling at making a nuclear reactor.

So he let the light guide his way.

Even as the buildings began to shake he did not waver, as the buildings began to shift as if a great wave had been spread through the earth. Even as the storm reached its apotheosis and the great wave crashed down upon the city of Tōhoku.

The mastery of his movements grew exponentially. No longer the fumblings of a child, built by a teenager trying to understand how the engine in his toyota tacoma works. Difficult but possible for the determined.

Just as his body stopped shaking his control flickered. His soul twitched sending the delicate processes into chaos, his mana exploded in quantity as his vitality was burned. He had touched upon this before, but it had always been the mirror.

Before the body affected the soul, now the soul affected the body.

The difference was like comparing fission to fusion, incomparable. The light broke free from his body. Flesh knit as he forced death from his body. The overflowing mana desperately patched the holes in his aether body even while letting the flesh die.

He refused.

He would not fail.

"Found you," The storm god's voice was almost teasing. Aquatic locks feel like a waterfall of liquid lightning down his back, even as his eyes blazed with magical fury.

"Unworthy," Alexander disdained the god. To kill your own people, sickening. Worst than that damnable Galelei at least this seemed unintentional, "Dispicable scum,"

[You Have Died]

Consciousness did not fade and now unbound from the decaying flesh. With the distorted image gone it was easy enough to create a direct reflection of his soul.

His soul continued to burn as he used every single stat point he earned to increase the power of his spell. One in particular.

"RISE!" He intoned even as the god attacked again, this time targeting the soul. Golden light burned through his skin, shattered his bones while stripping the marrow.

[Race: Human →Undead]

[You Have Died]

The storm god did not wait for him to revive once more and simply reached out to grasp the soul. Alexander smiled at the god's wrath, and accepted his fate. He was simply too weak.

A fucking pagen killed him, Alexander was ashamed. Still he did not let it break his will.

"Murderer." He snarled even as his body crumbled to ash.

To be in the hand of the living god is a fearful thing, and yet Alexander refused to call this thing a god. It was a spirit pumped up by the belief of a hundred million people. People It slaughtered on a whim in retaliation for literally nothing.

He had healed a single man, saved his soul from eternal damnation. What right did this god have to damn another soul to hell, or whatever demonic alternative of this backwards island nation.

To give his life in service of a greater cause was Alexander's greatest honor, so he spat in the face of the storm. If he had the anatomy he would have pissed into the wind such was his disdain for this faith elemental.

If only. . . the knowledge burned itself into his mind, and he grieved the lost potential even as the lightning clad hand pierced towards the center of his soul.

With the jingling of golden hoops the palm was stopped. The staff redirected the blow to the side, even as he swept back dragging Alexander's soul with a terrible lurch.

"Look at yourself Susanoo." Hachiman sighed, "See what you have done, what this boy you wish to kill has done."

"He's a Necroancer!" Susano spat.

"He's a healer, greater than any our nation has produced in generations and you wish to kill our golden goose. Our own Asclepius and you wish to push the lotus back into the mud." The Sun itself fell from the sky and took physical form. Nine golden tails danced in the breeze even as the storm was bisected and the world returned to peace.
