Pentex Corporation

The largest mega-corporation on Earth-Bet, it has an extensive network of subsidiary companies and is a behemoth that overshadows its competitors.

Pentex's influence spans multiple sectors, providing the company a diverse array of revenue streams and unparalleled market control. Its extensive operations not only dominate various industries but also exert a significant influence on the global financial infrastructure, positioning the company to rival the economic power of entire nations.

Pentex is involved in numerous sectors, from entertainment and food production to weapons manufacturing. Its reach goes far beyond the ordinary. Just about any field will have a shell corp funded by Pentex that rivals the top of its competitors. 

Its annual profits rival the GDP of small countries, Pentex possesses the resources to shape policies, influence markets, and steer the direction of technological advancements.

And apparently now the new CEO as my parents died.

As I was looking at my computer viewing the basic information on the internet. I was curious as this was the Earth-Bet of Worm, but there are some minor differences that I saw that was not in canon.

In canon Earth-Bet had no existence of supernatural creatures and aliens did exist, but they were more like eldritch entities.

From what I can see is that there are the existence of vampires, werewolves, and every classic monster, but most people believe they are just parahumans with powers similar to that or are case 53s. 

Another major difference I see is that Japan is still around and relevant compared to canon Worm. In canon after Leviathan sank Kyushu they pretty much collapsed and became a third-world country. Their national hero team Sentai Elite lost many members as they either left, recruited by other organizations, or became villains.

In this AU world while they still lost Kyushu they didn't become a third-world country, but they still suffered as a lot of salt water got into their fresh water sources damaging their fishing and rice industry, but they're still around even the Sentai Elite.

I also noticed some other things that weren't originally from canon Worm. There were other heroes and villains from different medias in this AU world.

Africa in canon was a mess of a country as warlords tried to conquer more land and they trampled upon the regular people's lives. Though in this new world it's mostly the same except that there's one nation that's stable and guess what, it's Wakanda.

Apparently the Black Panther exists in this world as a parahuman king. From my research he pretty is much the same as his marvel counterpart, but as a parahuman. 

I eventually decided to stop looking at my computer and decide to go to Pentex's headquarters as my parents died and I needed to find out what's next.

I exited my room and headed downstairs and once I reached the bottom I called for my maid Sakuya.

"Sakuya, where are you."

"I'm here master Amamiya I was currently preparing your lunch is there something you need?"

I saw her stick her head out of the kitchen.

"Yes, can you get me a vehicle to Pentex's headquarters I need to adress the board about our next plans ever since my parents died." 

I said calmy

Sakuya had a worried look on her face as she questioned me, "Are you sure Master Amamiya it hasn't even been a few days yet since your parents have passed?"

"Yes it's alright"

Sakuya looked at me steadily as if gazing to see if I was really sure.

"Alright, I shall finish making your lunch and I will drive you there."

I nodded at her and I returned upstairs.

As I returned to my room and closed the door I figured it was time to talk to my shard which I had been ignoring for the past few hours. 

'Hey Guru, are you there'

[Hmmph, you've been ignoring for the past few hours even though I've been trying to talk to you, hmmph!]

I clasped my hands in a prayer as I mentally apologized to Guru.

'Forgive me Guru, but I've been busy.'

[Hmmph, well I guess I can't get too mad at you for not speaking to me, but don't do that again or else I'll get really mad!]

'I promise.'

[Good!]

'Hey Guru, can you explain to me what my powers are, after all I do have a Shard which is you.'

[I'm glad you asked! My role is to pretty much to study and learn all martial arts techniques and other ways of fighting!]

'So you pretty much just know how to fight or do you know anything else?'

[Haaah?, of course that's not all I can do, my role is in the name Guru, to study and learn not only different ways of fighting, but knowledge as well such as science, philosophy, governance, and pretty much everything else.]

'Wow you must be pretty smart if you pretty much have an archive on everything.'

[Heh, of course I'm smart that's what I was made for.]

'So you can teach me your knowledge right?'

I was pretty excited after all my shard has knowledge of everything from fighting styles, science, math, physics, and pretty much everything that mankind knows and doesn't know! 

I can be the hero I always wanted to be!

As I was fantasizing about my eventual training arc and becoming a super-hero, Guru decided to pop my bubble.

[Well... I can't really teach you per say-]

'Oh come on, despite you literally saying that you role was to study and learn knowledge, you should be able to at least teach me it.'

[Well if you let me finish, while I can't personally teach what I can do is summon mentors from across the multiverse to teach you what they know.]

'Alright, that's actually pretty good I get to learn from them myself. Do you have any other abilities that I should know about?'

[Of course I do!, I have many other miscellaneous abilities such as seeing what powers someone has, making you stronger, ignoring select laws of physics, and a bunch more miscellaneous powers that will help you in your hero journey!]

'Alright!, that sounds pretty good.'

As I finished talking to Guru, Sakuya poked her head into my room as she smiled and said

"Master Amamiya, the car is ready."

"Alright I'll head down soon."

She then left and I too also left my room and once I got outside I saw a luxury car and she was holding the door open for me in the back.

I entered and thanked her and she closed the door and got into the driver's seat and began the drive to Pentex's headquarters in Brooklyn.

As Sakuya was driving I began to think about what's different about this world compared to canon. In this new world supernatural creatures did exist, but they were thought of as case 53s or parahumans that have powers inspired by them.

Heroes from different media are in this world, but as parahumans. Scion is still here, the 3 Endbringers are still here, the Triumvirate, and regular canon worm groups.

Though I'm curious about what's the difference about the Entities in this AU compared to canon. In canon the Entities main goal was to survive the heat death of the universe and reproduce forever. Their main goal wasn't to solve entropy per say, but to survive after all the resources in the universe is scarce or gone. 

I decided to ask the person who knew them best, Guru.

'Hey Guru, what's the difference between the Entities in this world compared to canon?'

[Well... from your memories there are some differences of the Entities in this world compared to canon. In this world the Entities possesses [DATA] about esoteric forms of reality manipulations, scientific advancements, mental and physical undertakings, and all-around foreign to generally supernatural foundational abilities.]

'What does that mean?'

[Basically, they posses [DATA] on all sorts of things they don't know about. So they know, understand and are capable of replicating and refining powers like magic, reality rewriting, cosmic awareness, time trave magic, psionic, chi, and all sorts of different power systems. Since they know it and understand it, they're able to replicate it with their shards. While this might not seem that dangerous, remember they grow through experimentation and adaptation and they are capable of interacting with out-of-context problems.]

Shit!

In canon Scion was literally able to go across the multiverse of Worm and annihilate planets, at the very minimum he can destroy multiple countries as he demonstrated by wiping out the United Kingdom. 

If the Entities of this world posses [DATA] on out-context-things then their threat level has increased exponentially.

Though I do wonder if the Entities posses [DATA] on out-of-context things then what about their shards. After all Scion is merely an avatar of the Warrior Entity and the Warrior Entity has the full unrestricted might of Scion's powers. 

'Hey since you explained the Entities, what about the shards can you explain the difference between the canon shards and this world's shards?' 

[Originally, the shards from canon connect to people who have a natural inclination for conflict and when they trigger they encourage their hosts to go out and seek conflict. That's why in canon you don't see much capes sitting around and doing nothing or else you'll end up like Leet whose power hates him because he's so passive and that's why it's trying to kill him. In this world it's still pretty much the same with shards wanting conflict to get more [DATA] it's just that the shards have access to more esoteric forms of [DATA] so they know magic, chi, and other power systems.]

'So should I expect to meet and fight wizards and magicians?'

Oh man, this world is much more dangerous than I thought. I was hoping this to be a curb-stomping adventure where I would beat down all the bad guys, save the world, and go down in history as one of the greatest capes in the world.

As I was still being depressed at this new dangerous world, Guru decided to interrupt my train of thought.

[Yes, but they shouldn't be too powerful as they will keep the most important and powerful shards to themselves. So the "wizards" and "magicians" you meet might not be the overwhelmingly powerful reality warping gods in the comics you read.]

'Nice!'

Looks like I do have a chance after all.

As I finished my thoughts my maid Sakuya said, "Master Amamiya we're here."

I thanked her and exited the car as I was walking to the headquarters I noticed how big the building was and if I had to estimate it would most likely be around 202 meters in height and I saw the large name of the company on the building as well PENTEX.

As I walked in I noticed there was a lot of people here and I'm not surprised as after all this is the largest mega-corporation in the world. I walked up to the receptionist's desk and I told her, "I would like to have a meeting with the board."

She didn't even look up from her work as she asked indifferently, "Name?"

"Ren Amamiya"

That got her attention as she slowly looked up from her desk and she looked up to see my face. She had a shocked look and her eyes went wide as she confirmed my identity. She hurriedly apologized for her behavior

"I'm so sorry Mr. Amamiya, I'll contact the board right away!"

"You do that."

She immediately got to work as she contacted the board to go into the meeting room. After a few minutes she smiled politely at me and said, "The board is ready for you Mr. Amamiya."

I nodded and smiled back, "Thank you."

I then walked to the elevator and got in and pressed the highest floor. After a few minutes I reached the highest floor and when I exited I saw a meeting room and it was filled with all 12 board members of Pentex. It was an even split of six men and six women. I then entered the room and soon all of them faced me

"Hello members of the board, while I admit this is sudden meeting as after all my parents did just die. We must move forward as my parents would want it as after all they did start this company with the goal of making the world a better place and that's what we have done for a long time. As the heir I'm expected to become the CEO, but as I'm still a young man and have no experience I will need your help, will you help me?"

As I finished my speech I expected a bunch of laughs and jeers, but it didn't happen. Instead I got a bunch of approval from all of them as they said various things

"Yes, we'll help you."

"Of course, I don't want this company to be gone."

"Obviously we'll help your mother would kill us if we didn't."

I smiled as they all answered positively to my declaration, but I was a bit skeptical as after all, regular board members from other companies wouldn't even care about the new and upcoming CEO as they have been in-charge of the company far longer than them. Though I was curious, since this is an AU world where supernatural creatures exist, I needed to test my theory.

'Hey Guru, can you activate power sight.'

[Sure thing!]

I suddenly felt something like a pulse and soon I saw something that shocked me. Power sight allows me to see what powers someone has and if they're actively using it. When I used it to see if the board members have any powers I was shocked. While they didn't have powers I did see them being surrounded by an aura and that's when my theory was confirmed true when Guru said, 

[Power sight is used for other shards and too see what powers they have, but the problem is that these board members while they aren't parahumans they're not humans too.]

'So that means-'

[Yes!, these are supernatural creatures and apparently they're board members of Pentex!]
