Chapter 282: Chapter 282: Recovery
The group would keep an eye out on Adel's physical health, slowly learning more and more about his anatomy, whilst having the children try to use some of their spells to test his biology and reflexes. Harvard would accomplish this by summoning a Monster, Genomix. A Doe-like creature with strands of DNA to serve as long mane-like hair, connecting such hairs towards the man. Such strands would examine through his biology, down to his DNA structure, even capable of taking some and replicating it on itself so the children can have a better look at his blood. They'd be mesmerized at how the solid chunk acts as a shell around the blood cells, being sturdy enough to provide protection against any internal damages, whilst also being loose enough to deliver oxygen when needed. Furthermore, such carbon also began to invade into other parts of his muscles, providing a studded structure across them for more durability, his skin hardening like solid stone whenever he would try to shed.
Zazel would still utilize the new gift as he'd use one of the sigils to summon a new Demon within its passages, Bifrons. A figure made out of solid jewelry, being no taller than himself. The demon would make quick work in examining the jewels in his tendons, constructing rubies and diamonds in order to take in the newly crafted energy, letting it reside within the stones so they can see how the energy functioned. As they traveled out from the Hospital and slowly make their way to the supposed chapel, the boys slowly but surely became invested in learning about such a build, even doing small tests to see if he was still the same. In the meanwhile, Adel would constantly be working himself to the bone: Squats, push-ups, sit-ups, leg-ups, and even a run across some of the streets in Khepros, all to get well-acquainted with the Carbon that rests within him. The Princess, amidst all of this, simply chuckled to herself, watching the children treat this as a special assignment, a school project due for a long time, all to see how much they wished to learn. She'd look up towards the sun, wondering how long it has been since she's left Salvandi, how long did she missed to be with her family again, once the marriage is set. As she's left in a daze, Zazel would be quick to tug at her dress. "Hey! Hey! Earth to Lady! You okay?" The demon shouted, snapping her back to reality and looking down.
"Yeah! Yeah... Is something wrong?" She would ask. She can notice the Demon was a bit anxious, his hands rubbing against one another, looking towards Serpens as he'd try to use his gift to fool around with the other children.
"...Back in Salvandi... with the whole test answers thing? I ah... Nearly lost my life to him." He'd began, walking slowly to keep at pace with her. "I can still remember the sting on my back when he put me out of commission for a while. I'm....Kinda worried if it's ever gonna happen again. I don't think I'd wanna experience such a thing as that again..."
"Forgive me for saying this, but, you were involved with the weird shady building down south-east, right? The one that was torn down?" Her words immediately took the Demon by surprise, somewhat remembering the mission Gabriel has given to the children. At the same time, he'd also recall an even worse experience, slowly but surely having each of them add up in his head, grasping at his own hands as a response. The Princess recognized his stress and would try to kneel down, her arms wrapped around the boy's shoulder. "Hey, hey! It's okay! It's okay! You don't have to be so scared. I felt the same way too, whenever I feel like I'm meeting with something just as impossible."
"Sorry, Sorry...Just-"
"Just nothing. Here, look." She'd provide a hug towards the demon, regardless of the horns poking onto her body, letting the demon's head rest softly. "See? Nothing scary! Please...do not feel scared for what is to come. Do not feel scared for what is to arrive. I can tell from your eyes that you have seen so many things, experienced so much pain. You don't need to be afraid. You've done so much, even if it feels so little. Do not worry yourself. You're okay in my book." The demon would hear her soft words, feeling himself be picked up and carried towards the chapel, watching her be quick in her steps to catch up with the others.
"But....What if this might be too much to handle? That's what happened whenever I faced these things...I never seem to stick around long enough for the end. I always end up being knocked down before I even get a chance to do anything."
"Does it happen all the time?"
"Well.....Not ALL the time-"
"Then there you go! Nothing is 'too much' to handle. A strong heart, a wide mind, a clear soul. That is what one needs at the end of the day for a task to be done. Even if you can't do what you think you can, your efforts are more than enough. Remember these words, okay? You've helped me so much already, and you're already helping them just as much. Do not be afraid to fly, little one."
Zazel can't help but give a small smile, chuckling with her comforting words. "This must've been how Solomon felt..." he'd think to himself. Soon enough, the group would reach the chapel, with the Princess putting down the demon at long last, letting him see its white marble and stunning stonework, the roof designed with a large bell in mind, its ring echoing across the block, crosses planted on the tilework to act as a ward against anything evil. A golden plaque was visible on the door, acting as the name of the church itself, with the demon nervously approaching into it, following the others through its entrance, the Princess staying behind and reading the plaque again, sighing to herself.
"St. Besis' Chapel."
