Chapter 349: A Trip to Wizard City (1)
Outside the city, Ye Nai sat atop a giant tree, carefully sensing the spores around her.
It took a while before Ye Nai finally found the feedback she wanted from the dense pixel-like spores.
She found the oil field.
Once the location was confirmed, Ye Nai immediately used Space Teleportation to jump over, landing at the outskirts of the oil field to avoid stepping into the oil herself.
Looking around, the pollution was quite severe; black crude oil was flowing everywhere, the smell was both foul and dizzying, making it hard to take a deep breath.
In the simple huts where people lived, overseers were already urging the laborers to get ready for work, completely unaware of the major changes at the Military Fortress.
Ye Nai launched a surprise attack, capturing all of them into her Space.
Then, she threw a Heart Core onto the ground, and a large number of spores followed it into the soil, beginning to grow and proliferate, forming a long and wide defensive perimeter. Now, this oil field and the surrounding land belonged to Dahua Country, prohibiting anyone from approaching or extracting oil.
After finishing, she made a trip to No.2 Military Fortress, dropped off the oil workers, and returned to the East Ridge Secret Realm.
As usual, she first checked the laborers' accomplishments and distributed food and water; even Duke Akeley's family, who had been too hungry to stand, had food this time. They were seen on the spot fighting for the first bite without regard for status or dignity, regardless of gender or age.
Ye Nai watched amusedly from the side, as if watching a spectacle.
Nearby, the Knight Nobles' two households and the Oona siblings, who had just received their food, were eating silently, not daring to glance around.
After instructing them to work hard, Ye Nai took a step and headed to the logistics camp of Selsa Country.
It was empty there as well.
She had only taken the officers as prisoners back then, leaving the ordinary soldiers untouched, but now the entire camp was empty, not a soul in sight.
Considering the time difference, she had probably been on Blue Star for about 12 hours; roughly 30 days had passed in the Otherworld.
30 days with nothing in the camp, and without the discipline and enforcement from officers, the ordinary soldiers and servants must have scattered looking for a way to survive.
Ye Nai took the opportunity to mobilize the fungal mat underground in the camp, issuing orders for defense and surveillance, forbidding any Otherworldly from nearing, then donned her two-piece gear and opened the Transmission Port to the Yunding Continent.
After waiting a minute, nothing happened.
Ye Nai cautiously held her gun, surrounded by a massive amount of spores, and stepped through the Transmission Port.
Upon steadying herself, she shivered from the low temperature and looked around, finding herself standing in a vast and beautiful Snow Mountain Canyon with a thick layer of snow underfoot.
No wonder it was so cold and a bit oxygen-deprived.
The previously deployed spores had naturally completed the clearing task successfully, the spore map surfaced in her mind, and simultaneously, the Space started to fill with a remarkable array of items: furniture, food supplies, important silver coins, Heart Core, and a significant amount of tanned animal hides.
Just the Transmission Platforms alone, forty-four came through, including the one she just used from the Selsa United Kingdom.
Moreover, these transmission platforms all had different decorations, mostly floral patterns on their bases, some painted, others sculpted and then painted.
The Selsa United Kingdom's one also had a circle of natural color carvings on its base, a very simple and unpretentious yet elegantly designed decoration, which she hadn't paid much attention to before, but now it felt different with something to compare.
Ye Nai took out all forty-four transmission platforms, carefully grouping them by pattern.
Among these patterned styles, some were colored, others preferred natural tones like Selsa Country, although with different patterns; there were geometric patterns, floral patterns, and figures, with Selsa Country having floral patterns that were also distinct from each other.
Ye Nai could only put the ones with the same color and pattern together. With this detailed sorting, most were singles or doubles, Selsa Country had two as well, with one group of three and another group of four.
This group of four had the most complex patterns, not only with floral carvings and coloring on the base but also a ring of red and green floral patterns along the outer edge of the standing platform.
The three-piece set favored geometric patterns with metallic silver edges; after seeing many of them, Ye Nai always felt a cold industrial vibe.
It made her shudder—is there actually a country in this world that has developed industrially?
Ye Nai took photos of all these patterns for future comparison, then activated the transmission platforms one by one, regardless of where they led, sending a wave of spores and then closing them.
Afterward, she stored them in the Space for the Fungus to devour, extracting the Witch Patterns for her own use, leaving no physical transmission platform behind.
The other materials were also categorized and placed in different fungal compartments. After finishing, Ye Nai finally had the mind to check the survival of the local natives.
As expected, there were skeletal remains everywhere.
She walked from one end of the small town to the other, mainly examining the clothing left by the skeletons, finding only a few soldiers, but mostly clothing and equipment belonging to Hunters, including bows, large knives, and two-handed swords suitable for fighting in primitive forests.
The weapons were all engraved with Witch Patterns.
Ye Nai gathered the skeletons and relics, organizing the weapons and skeletons into separated compartments in Space.
By now, she had collected too many skeletons and still needed a way to dispose of them.
This thought flickered through her mind, and she opened the Transmission Port to the Wizard City, sending the spores through.
This time, she planned to take a risk; after sending a batch of spores, the Transmission Port didn't close, as immense spores continued fueling the Transmission Witch Pattern, filling it with energy for a full five minutes, with no reaction from the other side.
The news that Wizard City currently had a low population seemed true after all.
Ye Nai did not wait any longer, took out her gun, and walked through the Transmission Port.
In the blink of an eye, as one foot stepped in and one foot out, Ye Nai was standing on the other side of the transmission, where the platform underfoot glowed faintly. She found herself in a grand and expansive plaza where it would take over ten minutes to complete a circle on an electric bike.
The plaza was completely deserted, the only element protruding from the ground were the two concentric circles of transmission platforms.
While still standing on the transmission platform, Ye Nai counted them from above, totaling thirty-six.
Moreover, all had various sculpted decorations.
These decorations looked familiar; not long ago, she had collected forty-four at Snow Mountain Pass.
Ye Nai stepped off the transmission platform, took out a chair, sat down, and drank a beverage, snacking while waiting patiently for all the fungal mycelium growing on the transmission platforms to mature. Most importantly, she let them drill down through the gaps connecting the base to the ground, wrapping around the entire base.
A quarter of an hour later, once she had eaten, drunk, and rested, Ye Nai, with a single thought, effortlessly pocketed all thirty-six transmission arrays.
Then, she took out her electric bike, chose one of the four main roads around the plaza—straight ahead—and rode out to explore.
During the quarter-hour she spent sitting there waiting, not a single person showed up.
