Eternal life begins with saving my clan

Chapter 239: Finding the where about of Su Yen's Parent

For the next three days, Baiyun city, both inside and out, was filled with people. The usually quiet cityscape was now brimming with makeshift tents.

Many powerful clans had tried various ways to get into the city and find out what was happening and why they would be asked to stay outside without anyone addressing them.

Far from the city gate, the section reserved for the ten most powerful clans was filled with dissatisfaction.

Still, no one left; in fact, more clans, both weak and strong, had arrived. This shocked everyone.

Such gatherings only occurred during the Hidden Dragon Tournament, and now was not the case. Why would there be such a turnout? This left many people dumbfounded.

Previously, only the younger generation had appeared, but now, even the older generation had arrived.

"Do you know what is happening?" Patriarch Jun asked his son with a deep gaze. Patriarch Jun, the most influential person after the Prefecture Lord, and their clans had survived many arrivals of the Bloodmoon Envoy.

With the look of things, they were going to survive the next ones, making them one of the most terrifying clans in the Zizhu Prefecture.

Jun Shen Yi looked at his father respectfully and responded, "Father, we don't know yet. All our attempts to communicate with those inside the city proved futile."

Patriarch Jun didn't respond and averted his gaze, looking at the most eye-catching tent in the surrounding and asked, "Do you think they know anything?"

"I don't think so. The Jiang clan is as clueless as us."

"I want it to stay so."

Inside the Jiang tent, the Matriarch Jiang looked at her daughter with a deep frown on her face.

"How come you don't know anything? So, you've been staying idle for the past three days like their watchdog. Hmm?"

From her speech, it could be seen where her venomous tongue had been inherited. Jiang Li Mei looked at her mother with an expressionless face and responded,

"Mother, you should trust your daughter must have tried her best to look for an answer." Explore more at m,v l'e-m|p| y r

"And what do you find?" Matriarch Jiang asked.

Jiang Li Mei opened her mouth to respond, but the words failed to come out.

She knew more excuses would make her mother look down on her. Therefore, she closed her mouth and chose to remain silent.

"I thought as much," her mother retorted. "I presume the Jun clan didn't find anything either."

"Of course. My eyes never left them since we arrived."

"Good. Let's put it that way."

The Jun and Jiang clans had been rivals for so many centuries. The course of their rivalry was long forgotten and had passed from one generation to another.

Screech!

A loud piercing cry came from the sky, and everyone froze on their spot. In the sky, a powerful grade-2 Thunderbird hovered in the sky. Its big eyes locked on the people on the ground as if they were its prey.

Standing on its back was a beautiful woman dressed in tight-fitting clothes that showed her long, enchanting legs.

However, she seemed not to care about her long, slim legs as she focused her gaze on the two most powerful tents – the Jun and Jiang clans.

Previously, they'd seen this woman on her mount whistling over their heads without batting an eye at them, but now, she was back, staring at the two clans.

"I want to see both the Patriarch and Matriarch of the Jun and Jiang clans," Cao Meng announced. Her voice was not loud, but anyone in the vicinity could hear her.

Her voice carried the power of pride and authority, as if she were not calling the most powerful clans in the Zizhu Prefecture.

Patriarch Jun and Matriarch came out of their tents at the same time. They glared at each other before raising their heads to meet Cao Meng's gaze.

"Who are you?" Patriarch Jun asked, his voice brimming with confidence that befitted the strongest clan in the prefecture.

Besides, Cao Meng's cultivation wasn't so outstanding that would warrant him, an Early Core Refining stage 2, to be respectful.

Likewise, Matriarch Jiang's gaze was expressionless, without any ounce of respect.

"Why are you looking for us?" she demanded.

"Please, follow me. You will know when we get there," Cao Meng responded. For a couple of seconds, neither of them responded nor moved. It was Patriarch Jun that broke the silence.

"Where are we going?"

"Back to the city?"

"Are we going to find out what is going on here?" Matriarch Jiang demanded.

"Perhaps," Cao Meng's response was cryptic but enough for those two old monsters.

"Alright!" They responded in unison.

"Good!"

Swoosh!

They took to the air and landed gracefully on the Thunderbird.

Immediately, the beast took up speed and disappeared into the horizon in a blink, leaving everyone confused.

At the back of the Thunderbird, Patriarch Jun and Matriarch Jiang glared at each other without uttering a word. Quickly, they arrived over the airspace of Baiyun city.

They looked at the overcrowded outer city with obvious disdain on their faces. Comparing this to their city was like comparing dirt to gold.

They didn't linger in the outer city for a second before they appeared in the inner city. The beast slowed down when it appeared over the Cao clan estate and screeched, landing on the massive field.

On the plain field were other grade-2 Thunderbird beasts. They looked at the new arrival for a second before averting their gaze and continuing to sleep.

Meanwhile, Patriarch Jun and Matriarch Jiang were stunned, watching many powerful grade-2 beasts sleeping peacefully in the clan compound.

"Follow me," Cao Meng demanded with an obvious pride on her face.

A single Thunderbird wouldn't get the attention of these two powerful clan masters, but what about tens of them? The answer was obvious on their faces.

Taking a deep breath, they followed after her into a separate courtyard.

Previously, they looked down on Cao Meng and Baiyun city, but now, they realized the rumors might be true, and they were likely going to see the powerful hidden expert.

On entering the courtyard, they heard a woman's voice. "Welcome, please make yourselves at home."

Sitting under a tree was Elder Hua, brewing tea. She looked younger and more peaceful compared to before. She raised her head and looked at the two guests with a light smile on her face.

As for Patriarch Jun and Matriarch Jiang, they were flabbergasted.

They thought they were going to meet the hidden expert, but what was this? An old woman with a cultivation of Early Foundation Building realm stage 2.

From the aura around her, she had just had her breakthrough to the second stage.

Why in the hell would they come all this way to meet such a weak woman?

The slight respectful expression on their faces disappeared into thin air and was replaced with a slight scorn.

Elder Hua and Cao Meng could see the slight change in their countenance, but they didn't comment.

"Thank you; you can leave," she said to Cao Meng.

With a deep bow, Cao Meng retreated from the courtyard with a look of anticipation on her face.

She knew after Su Yen, Elder Hua had the second-highest authority in the city and every branch of the Celestial Heavenly store. And if those two were to step over their boundary, she chuckled as she imagined their miserable end.

"Please, take a seat," Elder Hua beckoned once again.

The clan masters looked at each other and took their seats without uttering a word. Elder Hua served them each a cup of tea and said,

"That's one of the specialties of my homeland."

Her voice was laced with pride and joy.

Even though they looked down on her, they were still curious why she would have the courage to summon them with such a cultivation, and therefore, still maintained their calm.

Taking a sip from the tea, they didn't expect anything from such an ordinary fragrance and only intended to give Elder Hua some courtesy, but then it happened.

The tea melted into their mouths, flowed into meridians. Instantly, they felt their breathing change; it was easy, and their Qi circulation was much quicker.

All their clogged meridians were washed through.

Besides, their minds became clearer.

They gasped and widened their eyes, stunned to stupor. They had never drunk such tea in their lives. Patriarch Jun and Matriarch Jiang exchanged subtle glances, and the disdain was long gone.

"What do you think?" Elder Hua asked, acting as if she didn't see the shock on their faces.

"Incredible!" Patriarch Jun didn't hold back his astonishment.

"This is the best tea I've ever drunk," Matriarch Jiang added.

"Thank you for the praise," Elder Hua responded with the same calm smile. "Cherish it because that is the only cup you can get from me."

"Now, let's get to the business of why I summoned you." Her voice changed, dripping with seriousness.

Although both clan masters wanted to ask more about the tea, they knew their priorities and nodded.

"Have you heard about the Su clan?"

Hmm!

They creased their brows with deep confusion on their faces. The Su clan? Watching the slight confusion on their faces, Elder Hua pressed on.

"I heard they came to your city a couple of months ago. With your resources and influence, I believe you would have heard about them."

The two patriarchs had deep frowns on their faces and exchanged subtle glances. For a couple of minutes, the courtyard was silent as Elder Hua allowed them to think about it.

"What does the Su clan have to do with us?" Matriarch Jiang asked with deep confusion on her face.

"Nothing. But if you can provide me with an answer, I will give you ten leaves of this tea. Besides... I will tell you why the prefecture lord asked everyone to gather here."

With such bait, how could the two clan masters resist such rare chances? Even without telling them why they gathered here, ten leaves from that special tea were more than enough.

"Give me a day?" Patriarch Jun said quickly.

"I don't have a day," Elder Hua shook her head.

"Give me three hours," Matriarch Jiang said confidently.

"One hour," Patriarch Jun added quickly, not wanting to lose to his arch-rival.

"Fine. One hour for both clans."
