Evolution of the Ruined Heir

Chapter 307: Vile

Renlo's movements froze as multiple unconscious Gor'Mekhai were thrown into the room.

'More prisoners?' he wondered, looking towards the Sanguine guard standing by the door. There was nothing but coldness and hate in his gaze.

"Useless savages!" he spat, shutting the door with a loud bang.

'Shit… no food.'

Renlo paled. He wasn't sure how long he could go without food. He was going to die at this rate!

He was pulled out of his thoughts by the clamor that suddenly spread across the room.

Renlo cleared his thoughts and focused. He saw the Gor'Mekhai, the ones that had resolved to stand at the edges of the room, rush towards the new prisoners.

'Looks like they captured another batch.'

Through the door, Renlo had seen even more Gor'Mekhai being hauled away inside a large crate. 'There must be other prisons.'

Renlo was getting used to this thinking thing. It wasn't as hard as he thought it was. All he had to do was list down all he knew and then think out the possible scenarios that could come from them.

Regardless, all his assumptions had never failed to make him shudder. More prisons meant that this was a bigger operation than he'd expected.

It meant that there would be stricter security. It would be harder to escape.

'Shit.'

Renlo focused on the new prisoners. They were all unconscious, but that wasn't the most distinct thing he noticed.

'Also Gor'Mekhai,' he noted.

Most of the old Gor'Mekhai had gathered around them, trying to call for them and wake them. Of all the names he heard, two names stood out.

"Luna!"

"Lina!"

Renlo focused on the two. The attention was somehow on both of them.

The first, which Renlo heard was Luna, was injured. One of her inhumane looking legs had been cut off.

'No… ripped apart.' Renlo gulped. He couldn't even imagine how much it would have hurt. He'd sustained injuries during his fight, but none could compare to this.

Though it had begun healing, the torn skin at the stump was an indication that it had been ripped up. The rest of her body wasn't any better.

Crimson blood littered her battered body, and Renlo could understand why she was unconscious. Even he wouldn't want to wake up to such injuries.

He steadied his heart and glanced at the second, Lina. To Renlo's delight, none of her body parts had been ripped off, but she was just as battered as the former.

There was a bloody patch that still dripped blood on her head, clearly where she'd been knocked out.

He glanced to the side to see Montem staring at them with a worried look.

"Montem, you know them?" he decided to ask, making sure his voice was barely audible.

Montem nodded her head.

"Your sisters?"

She shook her head. "Kins of Grath'Mekhai."

Renlo was confused.

'Grath what?' he wondered.

He was about to ask what the hell a Grath'Mekhai was when one of the girls he'd been observing, the former, Lina, opened her eyes.

A ripple of shock ran through the gathered Gor'Mekhai instantly, and murmurs broke out.

"Zhra'kath! Zhra'kath!"

"Vorr mekta lina-ash!"

Renlo ignored their shouts and focused on Lina. She was struggling to sit up straight, the Gor'Mekhai around her lending her a hand.

She had to shake her head multiple times before the haze around her vision cleared.

The Gor'Mekhai around her began uttering different words that Renlo couldn't understand, though he was somehow able to tell that they were questions.

But Lina didn't seem to be having them. She squinted her eyes as though irritated by the constant noise.

Renlo couldn't help but feel pity for her. He couldn't imagine the magnitude of her current headache, and the Gor'Mekhai clamoring around her weren't helping things.

Finally, one of them, with a sense of reason, sent the others away from her and gave her space to breathe.

As she began to regain herself, taking deep breaths, she finally turned to the side and saw the former girl Renlo had observed, Luna.

"Luna!" Her eyes widened, and to Renlo's shock, despite her pain, she rushed towards her side with a panicked expression.

Renlo watched, unable to hide the pain he was feeling as she wept while shouting words he couldn't understand.

She seemed genuinely sad, and he couldn't help but get the sense that they were more than friends.

'She did say kins,' he remembered Montem's words. 'So they're sisters.'

Renlo felt a sudden silence grip the entire room.

'Huh?'

Lina's cries were gone, and there was nothing but silence. 'Did she stop crying?'

He focused on her once more only to freeze. Lina had stopped crying. But it wasn't because she was tired or Luna had woken up. No. Somehow, she was staring right at him!

'I don't feel good about this.' Renlo took an uneasy gulp and looked away.

'Let's hope she'll ignore me.'

But Lina did not ignore him.

"You!" she spat, anger lacing her every word. "You look just like him!" She placed Luna down softly and shakily stood, moving towards him.

Renlo had already entered panic mode.

Firstly, he had no idea what the hell she was talking about.

'Look like him'? For all he knew, not even his brothers bore resemblance to him. They were tall, commanding. Whereas he inherited his mama's chubby cheeks.

But the next word broke Renlo's expression.

"Malakai." Lina seethed, as though speaking the very name added to her already bottomless anger.

"It's because of him. He caused everything!" she said. "It was after he came that they attacked! It's because of him we were captured. He led them to us!"

Renlo turned the instant she reached his front. He'd been trying to ignore her, thinking she had been mistaken, but the mention of Malakai made it obvious that it was clearly futile.

Malakai and Renlo were like polar opposites. The only resemblance he could claim to bear was his hair and eyes, the traits of a Sanguine.

'Malakai, what the hell did you do to her!'

How was it fair that he was paying for another's crimes?! Renlo quickly shook his head. Malakai was a lot of things, but he was far from being a villain.

"Wait, wait!" He waved his hand. "I don't know what you're talking about, but Malakai can never do such a thing!"

"So," Lina paused just in front of him. Though she was battered and bloodied, the intensity of her eyes made Renlo shudder.

"You know him," she said, killing intent rolling from her. Renlo felt a chill hit him and knew he had just fucked up.

'Damn! Damn!'

Lina's hand whipped forward, tearing straight towards his head.

Renlo's eyes popped wide and he threw himself to the side, evading the heavy blow. He landed in a rough roll.

"Your kind are evil! Vile beings!"

Lina screamed, and shot towards him the moment he got to his feet. Her hand blurred as her fist flew.

Renlo barely dodged, his legs shifting rapidly as each blow whizzed past him.

'How is she so fast!' Renlo's thoughts ran fast. She was clearly young, and he could guess that she couldn't have formed past 4 nodes, so how was she so fast?!

'Do they even have nodes?'

He cleared up his thoughts that had begun wandering. He needed to focus on this fight.
