Evolution of the Ruined Heir

Chapter 308: Who?

'She's trying to kill me.'

Renlo arched his back sharply, evading a tearing fist aiming for his neck. He shot back and quickly created distance.

The first thing he did was send a glance around, hopefully they would be able to stop all this, only to freeze.

A crowd of Gor'Mekhai were silently staring at him. And from their cold gazes, he could see that most wished him dead.

Renlo gritted his teeth. There was no one else to help him, he was the only one here. If it had been the past Renlo, he would have been trembling.

But this wasn't the past. This was the present Renlo that had gone through life and death. That had been touched by a monster that was Malakai.

'What would Malakai do?'

As he asked himself, and the answer came.

"Wait, think about everything for a second!" he said, causing Lina to pause. Her eyes still maintained their coldness.

"Even if I know him, it doesn't mean anything! We were ambushed just yesterday. I'm clearly not working for them!"

"Why would I trust you?" Lina spat, taking a step closer to him.

"How about the fact that I'm in this prison together with you all! I've not eaten for so long, I'm also being tortured!"

Lina's expression darkened, moving another step closer. "That doesn't mean anything. You could have been placed here to monitor us. Your death is little for what your kind has put mine through."

'It didn't work.'

Renlo's thoughts were accompanied by Lina exploding forward with speed. She was upon him in an instant.

Renlo pivoted to the right, intending on avoiding her punch only for his gaze to widen.

'A feint!'

Lina suddenly dipped, her leg whipping below. Renlo felt a heavy force impact his leg, and before he knew it, his world was tilting.

Before he could comprehend the events, Lina's foot whipped towards his head at sudden speed. Renlo's eyes tore wide; he was barely able to raise his crossed arms when the blow landed.

The force of the kick almost cracked his arms. He was hurled back, hitting the hard wall with intense force. He hit the floor with a loud thud, unmoving.

Lina spat out blood, clutching her ribs. She could feel that multiple were broken.

She had come out from a dangerous battle and now she was pushing herself too much. But there was no helping it, the very thought of sharing the same space as this devil irked her.

They had attacked and killed so many of her people. Lina gritted her teeth. She would kill him and take care of the creature that came after.

She approached Renlo's unmoving figure with cold eyes. But just as she reached a step from him, as though a flip had been switched, his gaze snapped open and he abruptly sat up straight.

Lina was taken aback for a second before she realized the situation. Her leg blasted forward the next moment, tearing straight towards his head.

But in a shocking turn of events, Renlo's head sharply arched back, just enough to evade the screaming kick.

Lina's eyes narrowed in shock. But she didn't let it affect her movement. She dipped and spun with the force of her missed kick, sending out a spinning kick towards his torso.

But Renlo was already on his feet. He shot up with sudden force, the whirl of her missed kick sending gusts. Before Lina could comprehend the events, he twisted mid air, his leg plummeting towards her head.

Lina was barely able to evade by throwing her body to the side, but Renlo didn't give her a moment of respite.

He closed the distance with a powerful leap, knee screaming towards her head.

Lina's expression changed violently. What was happening?

She was barely able to raise her arms in a desperate guard before the attack hit. A heavy force vibrated through her body, arms teetering at the edge of breaking.

Lina gritted her teeth as she was hurled back, skidding to a stop just before a wall. She shot her shocked gaze back towards Renlo. He stood at a distance, silently staring at her.

'His eyes.' She was having trouble recognizing the figure standing in front of her. Was this who she'd been fighting just seconds ago? She doubted it.

His eyes were different. Rather than the fear and hesitation she'd seen before, his eyes were distant, as though he were staring at a faraway place despite looking at her.

And his movements… Lina couldn't understand it. He had erased every trace of sloppiness. His movements were refined, his battle sense peaked.

From their brief clash, Lina doubted if she could defeat him, especially not in her current state.

Lina gritted her teeth and stood up straight. She didn't miss as Renlo deftly shifted his weight to one foot.

The other Gor'Mekhai watched silently from the side. Some could see Lina losing and were already getting ready to step in.

Lina's eyes blazed, she was about to attack when the door to the room swung open.

Multiple figures entered, and they instantly caught Lina's attention. They bore the same trait as that devil, crimson hair and eyes!

Before anyone could move, the one leading them suddenly spoke.

"You must be Renlo! Ninth cousin's pet," she said with a wide smile. "You're coming with me."

Suddenly, Renlo blasted forward without warning, erasing the distance between him and Seraza. His gaze was cold, calculating, steps tight as his arm tore towards her head.

The guards all flinched. An attack was the last thing they'd been expecting. Even Seraza raised an eyebrow as the fist tore towards her.

"Hmm, I'm glad to see even his people have balls."

Seraza vanished to the side, speed so fast all Renlo's fist hit was her afterimage. Her punch tore into his stomach the next moment, careening his body forward.

Before Renlo could react, a heavy blow hit his neck and darkness claimed him the next moment.

"Take him."

One of the guards obeyed, lifting up Renlo.

Seraza glanced around the room and sneered when she saw Lina's cold gaze.

"Weakling," she spat, before turning and leaving the room the next moment.
