Chapter 101: FTRJ: Chapter 101
"What a tenacious fire dragon. Wouldn't it be simpler to just lie down and accept defeat?" Angel's voice cut through the air, aimed directly at Natsu.
Instantly, the two miniature figures that had previously emerged from Ichiya zipped forward, colliding with each other in a puff of smoke. When the smoke cleared, Gray, fists clenched and ready for action, stood before Natsu.
"Ice Make: Lance!" Countless ice lances, sharp and deadly, rained down upon Natsu and Happy.
"Aaah——" A cry of pain escaped Natsu's lips as he, too, was forced to the ground, unable to rise.
At that moment, every single member of the alliance lay defeated, unable to stand.
Racer materialized beside Brain. "Leader, Finn has shot down the Christina, but Cobra is still out there. What should we do?"
"Should we go and assist him?"
Brain slowly shook his head, his fingers tracing a now-fading mark on his face. "I can sense that he's in a precarious situation. You go and retrieve Cobra; the rest of us need to proceed with the unsealing of Nirvana."
"OK," Racer replied, nodding curtly before vanishing from sight in an instant.
"Leader, what about these… others?" Angel inquired, gesturing towards the fallen alliance members.
Brain raised his skull-topped cane high. "These filthy creatures can all disappear together."
A dark, ominous magic circle spread across the ground, and a terrifying surge of magical energy began to gather at its center.
"What is this…? This magical energy…"
"The very air is trembling…"
"This is bad."
A wave of unease washed over everyone as they sensed the steadily rising magical power emanating from the circle.
"Dark Rondo!" The deep purple magical energy coalesced into countless beams, hurtling towards the fallen alliance members.
"Damn it! Everyone, dodge!" Erza shouted, her voice filled with urgency.
"Sherria, be careful!" Lyon instantly positioned himself in front of Sherria, shielding her from the impending attack.
However, the deep purple beams of magical energy were already descending upon them.
Suddenly, a torrent of flames erupted from seemingly nowhere, instantly engulfing the group from above.
The countless deep purple beams of magical energy relentlessly bombarded the wall of flames, resulting in a series of violent explosions, yet the flames remained impenetrable.
The flames were an insurmountable barrier, seemingly a divine judgment against their enemies.
After a protracted period of intense explosions, the flames finally began to subside, eventually dissipating completely.
"That was…"
"Those flames…?"
"It's Finn!"
Sensing the familiar, intensely hot magical energy of the flames, the Fairy Tail members instantly turned their gazes towards the figure standing defiantly amidst the lingering smoke.
"Finn, where are those guys?" Natsu asked, scrambling to his feet and surveying the surroundings, only to find that Oración Seis had vanished without a trace.
Finn let out a weary sigh. "They escaped right after unleashing their magic. I wasn't able to stop them because I had to save you all."
Gray slammed his fist angrily against the ground. "Damn it!"
"Incredible power, Mr. Finn," Eve said, rising to his feet, the lingering effects of the flames still fresh in his mind.
"Thank you so much for saving our lives," Hibiki added, managing to stand with Ren's support.
"Finn, are you alright? Was the Christina the one that attacked you earlier?" Erza asked, turning her gaze towards Finn and Wendy.
Carla nodded solemnly. "The Christina was taken over by Oración Seis and used to attack us."
Upon hearing Carla's words, the three members of Blue Pegasus were overcome with a sense of guilt and self-reproach.
"I'm so sorry. We never imagined that our own weapon would be turned against our allies," Hibiki said dejectedly, sinking to the ground, his hands clasped over his forehead as he struggled to process his emotions.
"It's alright, we're all safe now, aren't we?" Wendy said softly, her kind words offering comfort.
Finn nodded in agreement. "You don't need to worry too much about it. That thing wouldn't have been able to kill me anyway."
"However, your Christina has been completely destroyed by me. You won't get into trouble for that, will you?" Finn asked, turning his gaze towards the three Blue Pegasus members.
Hibiki shook his head. "Not at all. It's just a weapon; we can simply build another one."
"Blue Pegasus really is loaded, huh? They just casually rebuild things like that…" Lucy remarked, her voice filled with a mixture of awe and amusement at the sheer wealth of Blue Pegasus.
Erza, leaning on her arm for support, managed to get to her feet, though the lingering pain caused her brow to furrow in discomfort.
Erza wasn't the only one suffering; most of the alliance members were similarly injured, bearing various wounds and grimacing in pain.
Wendy, observing the scene, felt a surge of compassion.
"Um… I… I can heal your injuries…" Wendy said softly, her small hand hesitantly raised.
"What?!" All eyes instantly turned towards Wendy, their gazes intense and expectant.
"Uh~" Wendy, completely overwhelmed by the sudden attention, instinctively ducked behind Finn, her small head peeking out from behind him as she nervously observed the assembled group.
Carla, hands on her hips, spoke with a stern yet encouraging tone. "Wendy! Have some confidence! This is your specialty! Acting like this will only make people underestimate you!"
Finn gently patted Wendy's head. "It's alright, they're not going to eat you."
"Yes, Wendy, we were just very surprised. Healing magic is incredibly rare these days; it's practically considered a lost art," Erza said reassuringly.
"Yes, if you really can, then we would be incredibly grateful for your assistance," others chimed in, offering their support and encouragement.
"It's okay, it's not a problem at all. This is probably the only thing I'm truly capable of doing," Wendy said, stepping out from behind Finn, her voice filled with a newfound confidence as she responded to the compliments.
She then approached Erza.
"Please, Wendy!" Erza requested earnestly.
"Okay!" Wendy replied, a determined glint in her eyes.
Wendy closed her eyes, focusing her mind completely. She extended her hands, and a gentle, soft green light began to emanate from her palms. As the light enveloped Erza, her injuries began to vanish at a remarkable speed.
"Amazing!"
"It really works!"
"Even the wounds are completely gone!"
As Erza's condition steadily improved, the onlookers expressed their astonishment and admiration.
"Of course, Wendy's healing magic isn't limited to just treating injuries, you know. She can also help with fevers, pain relief, detoxification, and even provide attack and defense buffs!" Carla announced proudly, her voice brimming with pride.
"So amazing?!" Sherria exclaimed, her voice filled with wonder.
Everyone present was acutely aware of just how terrifyingly powerful such a combination of magical abilities would be. They all understood that judging the effectiveness of magic solely based on its destructive power was a mistake; other factors needed to be considered as well.
Wendy's magic, in a certain sense, even surpassed most destructive magic in its versatility and utility.
Carla crossed her arms, a smug smile playing on her lips. "Of course, Wendy is a Sky Dragon Slayer! Wendy, the Sky Dragon!"
As soon as Carla finished speaking, everyone's gaze darted back and forth between Wendy and Natsu, their initial amazement quickly giving way to a profound sense of shock and awe.
"Dragon Slayer…" Natsu stared at Wendy, his voice barely a whisper.
Seeing that Wendy had completed her healing of Erza, Natsu immediately rushed forward, his voice filled with an urgent plea.
"Wendy, if you're a Dragon Slayer, then you must have been raised by a dragon, right? Can you still find the dragon who raised you? I really need to ask her something!"
Natsu's intense urgency and barrage of questions startled Wendy, leaving her momentarily speechless and unsure of how to respond.
Erza sighed, stepping forward to intervene. "Natsu, please calm down a little."
Upon hearing Erza's words of caution, Natsu finally realized that he had become overly agitated and quickly apologized.
"I'm so sorry, Wendy. I just really wanted to know more about Dragon Slayers."
Wendy shook her head reassuringly. "It's quite alright." She then proceeded to answer Natsu's question. "Yes, I was indeed raised by a dragon. She is my mother, Grandeeney, the Sky Dragon!"
Upon hearing this, Natsu's excitement swelled even further. "Then, can you still find Grandeeney? I really need to ask her if she knows anything about Igneel's whereabouts!"
Wendy responded with a sigh, expressing her helplessness. "I haven't been able to find Grandeeney either. She disappeared one day without a trace."
"Igneel?" The others, who had been largely oblivious to the exchange between the two Dragon Slayers, were completely bewildered, utterly lost in the conversation.
Happy stepped forward to offer an explanation. "Igneel is the dragon who raised Natsu. He was a Fire Dragon!"
"What?! So dragons really do exist?!" Sherria exclaimed, her hand flying to her mouth in utter astonishment.
"The world is a vast and mysterious place. Who knows what wonders it might hold? Perhaps dragons are indeed soaring somewhere out there," Finn remarked calmly, his arms crossed across his chest.
Before long, Wendy had used her magic to heal almost all of their injuries. However, due to the immense amount of magical energy she had expended, Wendy collapsed onto the ground, her body weakened and trembling.
Carla's heart ached at the sight of Wendy's exhaustion.
Natsu, meanwhile, had finally received the answer he had been seeking. Grandeeney and Igneel had both vanished on the same day, a fact that left him deeply perplexed and filled with a sense of unease. The disappearance of three dragons on a single day was a truly unsettling mystery.
However, for now, Natsu had no way of unraveling this enigma. He could only suppress his curiosity and store the information away in his mind, knowing that perhaps only when he had become significantly stronger would he be able to solve these mysteries.
After surveying the surroundings, Finn spoke with a puzzled expression. "Speaking of which, has anyone seen Jura and Ichiya?"
"I remember they were supposed to be a team. Where are they?"
Lyon clenched his fists tightly. "Based on what Oración Seis said, they've already defeated Mr. Jura and Mr. Ichiya."
"I find that highly improbable. A battle involving Ten Wizard Saints of that caliber wouldn't have gone unnoticed," Eve stated, voicing his doubts.
Finn nodded in agreement. "Jura and Ichiya are both incredibly powerful wizards; it's highly unlikely that they could have been eliminated so silently and without a trace."
Just as the group was engrossed in their discussion, a deep, resonant voice cut through the air. "We apologize for causing you all to worry, but we're both alright!"
Everyone turned their heads to see Jura and Ichiya approaching, their bodies covered in various wounds and bruises.
"Mr. Jura!"
"Ichiya-sensei!"
"Mr. Jura, your injuries…" Sherria said, her voice laced with concern.
Jura spoke in a grave tone. "The power of those individuals is truly terrifying. I've only managed to recover this much thanks to Mr. Ichiya's pain-relieving fragrance."
Jura's words prompted everyone to turn their attention towards Ichiya, who, as usual, was striking a dramatic pose.
