Chapter 106: FTRJ: Chapter 106
"Just broaden your horizons a little," Finn said, turning to leave.
Midnight didn't reply. He suddenly felt exhausted.
"My wish… was just… to sleep peacefully… in a quiet place…"
He collapsed.
Midnight, a member of Oración Seis, was defeated.
Brain, before the Nirvana pillar, painfully covered his face.
"Impossible? Racer and Angel were defeated, Hoteye betrayed me, breaking my ecological connection magic, and now Midnight…" The marks on his face faded, leaving only two.
He knew one represented himself, the other, Cobra, still fighting.
He turned to Nirvana. "But your sacrifices were worth it. Nirvana is about to revive!"
He felt the progress and smiled again. "Once Nirvana revives, I can build a new Oración Seis!"
What concerned Brain most was Finn's power: "Finn! I must have your power!"
"Such power used to protect light? What a waste! Once Nirvana turns you to darkness, no one can stop me! Hahahaha!" Brain laughed maniacally.
The explosion from the distance caught the attention of Natsu and Cobra, who were locked in aerial combat.
Cobra, perched atop his winged serpent, watched the massive explosion unfold, the horrifying image of the all-encompassing flames from earlier flashing through his mind.
A cold sweat broke out on his brow, and he couldn't stop the tremors that racked his body.
"Heh, I heard you this time, you know!" Natsu, being pulled along by Happy through the sky, let out a booming laugh. "You're terrified!"
"I've been curious about where you got all those injuries. Now I know," Natsu said, his gaze fixed on the direction where Finn was last seen.
"Those burns are from Finn! Those were some serious flames!"
"Shut your mouth!" Cobra roared, his voice raw with pain and anger, as if Natsu had struck a particularly sensitive nerve.
Suddenly, he turned his attention to Happy. "What did you just say, you mangy cat?!"
Happy froze, momentarily taken aback by Cobra's sudden outburst.
Natsu, noticing Happy's stunned silence, inquired, "Happy, what were you thinking just now?"
Happy leaned in close to Natsu's ear and whispered conspiratorially, "I was just thinking whether this guy would be so scared he'd pee his pants. I didn't expect him to actually hear me."
"Pfft!" Natsu couldn't contain his laughter, erupting into a fit of giggles.
He whispered back, "Actually, now that you mention it, I'm a little curious myself…"
Several distinct vein-like markings appeared on Cobra's forehead, a clear indication of his rising frustration.
"Damn it, I can hear your whispers too!!"
With a sudden, ferocious lunge, Cobra opened his mouth wide, unleashing a devastating attack. "Poison Dragon's Roar!!"
A dark crimson magic circle materialized before him, and a torrent of poisonous gas, resembling a dense spray, shot towards Natsu and Happy.
Seeing the impending attack, Natsu didn't dare to hesitate, gathering his magical energy within his mouth. "Fire Dragon's Roar!"
"Poison Dragon's Scale Teeth!" While still unleashing his roar, Cobra simultaneously conjured another magic circle with his right hand, launching countless crescent-shaped projectiles of concentrated poison towards his opponents.
Natsu immediately abandoned his own roar, and Happy, demonstrating remarkable synergy with Natsu, rapidly increased his flight speed, skillfully dodging the barrage of poisonous projectiles.
"All you fire-users should die!" Cobra roared, his entire body pulsating with a renewed surge of magical energy.
"If Finn can beat you once, I can too!" Natsu retorted defiantly, refusing to be outdone.
Observing Natsu and Happy soaring high into the sky, Cobra muttered to himself, "He's aiming to use the Fire Dragon's Roar at full power, leaving me with nowhere to hide, is he?"
"I heard you! As long as I maintain a sufficient distance, your magic won't be able to reach me," Cobra stated, before he and the massive winged serpent beneath him began a hasty retreat towards the rear.
However, Natsu, completely disregarding Cobra's attempt to evade his attack, unleashed his magic without hesitation. "Fire Dragon's Roar!!!"
BOOM—
An incredibly powerful roar engulfed Cobra completely.
"Impossible! That wasn't the roar he was thinking of using in his mind?!" Cobra stared in utter disbelief as Natsu's roar enveloped him completely.
Just like Finn's flames, although not as powerful, Cobra's body was unable to withstand the sheer force of this attack.
"He actually hit him?" The astonishment wasn't limited to Cobra alone; even Happy and Natsu himself were equally dumbfounded by the outcome.
"Natsu, how did you manage to hit him?" Happy asked, his voice laced with confusion. He was well aware that the only times Natsu had managed to land a blow on Cobra were during those brief moments when Natsu had completely emptied his mind, relying solely on instinct to guide his actions.
However, such a state of mind was unsustainable for prolonged combat. The fact that Natsu had managed to land a decisive blow even after his thoughts were read was utterly baffling to Happy.
Natsu scratched his head sheepishly, letting out a nervous chuckle. "I guess even I didn't realize my full-power roar was capable of such a feat. Haha…"
As Happy observed Natsu's bewildered expression, a thought suddenly struck him. "It seems that even Natsu himself hasn't realized just how much he's improved under Finn's influence…"
As the flames finally dissipated, Brain, who had fallen to the ground, was completely unable to rise to his feet, his body bearing the unmistakable marks of severe burns, the source of which was uncertain—whether they were inflicted by Finn or Natsu.
However, at this point, Cobra no longer cared. Two consecutive defeats had completely shattered his spirit and resolve.
He turned his gaze towards the massive serpent beside him, his hand trembling as he reached out. "Kubelios… I long to hear your voice once more…"
Cobra, a member of Oración Seis, was defeated.
News of Cobra's defeat reached Brain instantaneously. He touched the fading marks on his face, a grim expression etched upon his features.
"All of Oración Seis has fallen? But your failures were worthwhile!"
Brain turned his gaze towards Nirvana, his eyes gleaming with unrestrained excitement.
"Brain! Stop your wickedness! In this world, love is the greatest power!" A familiar voice echoed through the air.
Brain turned to see Jura and Hoteye rushing towards him.
"Jura, a Ten Wizard Saint, and you, Hoteye, the traitor!" Brain said, his voice filled with a mixture of anger and derision.
"Stop this thing!" Jura roared, his face contorted with rage, the veins on his forehead bulging with fury.
A sharp sword cleaved through the air, aimed directly at Brain, who swiftly twisted his head to evade the attack.
"And the Fairy Queen, Erza, has also arrived…" he said, his gaze sweeping across the assembled group, a sinister smile playing upon his lips.
"But it's already too late!" His voice was filled with unrestrained excitement.
"Could it be...?" Erza's eyes narrowed, a chilling possibility forming in her mind, as she raised her sword, preparing to strike.
"Nirvana has awakened!!"
With his triumphant cry, the ground beneath them instantly cracked open, emitting an intensely blinding light from the fissures.
The fractured earth began to rise in layers, revealing a colossal entity emerging from the depths of the earth.
Meanwhile, Finn, sensing the tremors and the cracking earth beneath his feet, furrowed his brow slightly. "It seems something is about to emerge…"
Suddenly, Finn's eyes widened in astonishment. "Whoa!!" Something had erupted from the ground beneath his feet, lifting him into the air.
Only Finn's cry of surprise echoed through the air…
Magical energy exploded in an instant, the sudden shockwave sending several unsuspecting individuals flying.
The ever-growing colossal entity finally revealed its immense form, and with a slight tremor of its massive body, the entire Whispering Woods seemed to shake along with it.
The magical energy in the air became increasingly erratic and chaotic under the influence of Nirvana's immense power.
Finally, the area fell silent. From amidst the ruins, Erza raised her head, her eyes widening in disbelief.
Towering over a hundred meters high, the colossal entity possessed six massive legs that spanned half the Whispering Woods, firmly supporting a gigantic platform at its center. Faintly, one could discern the outlines of buildings and structures atop the platform.
"What in the world is that thing?! I've never seen anything like it before!" Natsu and Happy exclaimed in unison, their voices filled with astonishment as they gazed upon the colossal entity from the sky.
"It emerged from the ground itself!" Happy's small face was etched with disbelief.
"Is this… Nirvana's true form?" Erza murmured, her voice laced with awe and apprehension.
"Can something like that even be classified as magic?" Jura exclaimed, his eyes wide with disbelief.
"Nirvana's true form is an ancient city…" Hoteye stated gravely, his voice filled with a sense of foreboding.
Inside Nirvana's control room, Brain spread his arms wide, a look of unbridled triumph on his face. "Finally… finally, it's in my grasp! The ultimate weapon capable of shattering the very foundations of light! The Super Reverse Magic: Nirvana!"
His eyes blazed with a crazed intensity. "The greatest weapon upon which all regular guilds rely—unity and trust—are now rendered utterly useless!"
…
"Now, let's proceed directly towards that guild. Let's eliminate the guild that poses the greatest threat to Nirvana first, and then no one will be able to stand in my way!" Brain declared, before proceeding to input his commands into the control panel.
Meanwhile, Finn finally understood the nature of the force that had just lifted him into the air.
It was actually one of Nirvana's legs?
"This thing is unbelievably huge…" Finn surveyed his surroundings, realizing that he was currently suspended in mid-air, approximately one hundred meters above the ground.
"By following this leg, I should be able to reach Nirvana's central core. Brain must be there," Finn reasoned, before crouching slightly.
He seemed to be gathering his power.
Then, with a powerful stomp of his foot, a torrent of flames erupted, propelling him forward. This was Finn's usual method of rapid travel; it was both efficient and effective.
"Damn it!" Hibiki let out a furious roar, slamming his fist against a nearby tree trunk in frustration over his failure to prevent Nirvana's revival.
"Nirvana has revived. It's all over…" he muttered dejectedly, his head bowed low.
Lucy, however, looked towards the colossal form of Nirvana and let out a bright, confident smile. "Who says it's all over? Look!"
Hibiki, Wendy, and Carla followed the direction of Lucy's finger, their gazes falling upon one of Nirvana's massive legs. A figure could be seen running along the leg, leaving a trail of blazing flames in its wake.
"That's…"
"Finn!"
"What is he trying to do?"
Lucy, hands planted firmly on her hips, watched Finn's determined figure as she spoke slowly. "We, Fairy Tail, will never give up easily and accept defeat. Finn is still fighting!"
"Wait a minute, isn't Nirvana starting to move?" Carla suddenly pointed towards Nirvana, her voice laced with alarm.
