Fairy Tail: Jinchuriki

For the last trial, Alex needs to enter a cave and reach the exit on the other end. But Laxus, Gildarts, and Makarov will wait for him in different spots inside the cave. He needs to pass through them to reach the exit.

They will surely try to stop him, but because the task is just to reach the exit, Alex doesn't really need to fight them. Though he knows that it's almost impossible to avoid battles with them.

The most he can do is use the battles to distract them and run away from them. Defeating all of them is just plain stupid and it's a waste of his energy.

He has the confidence to fight Laxus till the end at most. But even if he can defeat Laxus, he will be too tired to continue and it will be impossible to pass Gildarts and Makarov when he is tired. So the best strategy is passing them without fighting them too much.

Alex also believes the 3 examiners will have some handicaps or it will just be an impossible trial to pass. But he doesn't know what kind of handicaps they'll use, so he needs to find out while trying to pass them.

The trial starts when Alex enters a cave from the south coast. It's a different cave than the one used in the series. This cave only has 1 path and it's longer than the ones used in the story.

Alex walks calmly in the cave. He can sense Laxus's magic power since he enters the cave, so he knows when he gets closer to Laxus who will be his first obstacle in this trial.

After a while, Alex finally arrives at Laxus's place. Laxus has waited for him while grinning excitedly because it has been a while since they fought. Both of them often did training matches before Laxus became an S-Class, but they haven't done it since then because they've swore to only spar again when Alex became an S-Class.

"Technically, you haven't become an S-Class. But this is a trial, a requirement for you to be an S-Class and I'm your examiner. So we still should fight. Or maybe you are afraid to fight me now before you officially become an S-Class?" Laxus smirks while teasing Alex.

"Are you sure it's not you who are afraid, Mr. S-Class? You suddenly mention our agreement when we are about to fight. It seems to me that you are trying to avoid the fight by telling me that I'm not an S-Class yet so I can't fight you. I'm sure it's because you are afraid that I will defeat you, right, Mr. Senior S-Class?" Alex doesn't back down from the verbal fight.

"You sure know how to talk back, aren't you?" Laxus's mouth twitches because of how annoyed he is.

Lightning currents appear on Laxus's arms, showing that he is ready to fight. Alex's magic power also rises as he grins excitedly. They won't talk anymore nonsense and will start the exam right away.

Laxus suddenly shoots a powerful lightning bolt with both hands. Alex jumps away to avoid it while transforming into Mini Matatabi. He doesn't transform into the humanoid Matatabi because the 4-legged form is faster and he needs speed to face Laxus's lightning.

Alex jumps around to dodge Laxus's lightning bolts. Although it has been around a year since he fought Laxus, Alex still can remember Laxus's fighting style and patterns. Laxus has grown better, but his habits are still the same.

Utilizing the moment, Alex shoots some fireballs at Laxus from different directions. Laxus wants to dodge, but the fireballs just explode a few meters before reaching him. They turn into firecrackers that send blinding sparks everywhere.

Laxus can't help but close his eyes when the blinding sparks spread all around him. When he opens his eyes, Alex has already gone. It wasn't only for a moment, but that was enough time for Alex to move past the area that Laxus guards with his speed as Matatabi.

"... Damn! I should've just gone all-out from the start."

Laxus has this habit to not get serious in the beginning and Alex used it well. He knew that Laxus would get serious after fighting for a while and he didn't want to fight seriously. Alex just wants to pass the trial, so he used Laxus's carelessness to pass this area.

Well, of course, it wasn't Alex's idea, it was Matatabi's idea, as usual. Alex couldn't even use Fire Magic to create firecrackers like that. So Matatabi took control for a while to create those firecrackers to distract Laxus and escape this area.

'I never knew you could make firecrackers.' Alex talks with Matatabi as he returns to his human form after passing Laxus's area.

'It wasn't so hard for me. I am basically made out of fire, so manipulating fire is like controlling my body. So I can help you create fire spells that you have in your imaginations. The same applies to Shukaku with his control over sand. Isobu and Son Goku are different though because they aren't made out of water and lava. Though they still have great controls over their elements.'

'I see. There are still many things I don't know about you guys, huh?'

After walking for a while, Alex is finally about to reach Gildarts' area. But before entering it, he stops to think of a strategy. By thinking, it means he asks the Tailed Beasts what to do because he can't think of anything good.

Again, it's Matatabi who gives a good idea. Shukaku and Son can only think of using brute strength. Isobu thinks as hard as he can, but he just can't find a better strategy than Matatabi. Well, at least he can think more seriously than Shukaku and Son.

Gildarts has sensed that Alex is getting closer. He can sense Alex's presence and magic power because Alex has a lot of magic power. Just from magic power alone, Alex is already an S-Class. Although Gildarts can't pinpoint Alex's exact location.

Suddenly, Gildarts feels something strange. He feels like his vision is getting blurry, but he can't find anything wrong for a while until everything around him turns foggy. The room that he guards is covered with mist that keeps getting thicker slowly.

"What the hell?" Gildarts tries to use his Crush Magic to remove the Mist, but it's almost impossible to do. After all, the mist blends with the air in this whole room and if he wants to remove the mist, he needs to remove all the air here.

Before Gildarts can figure out how to remove the mist, he suddenly hears a loud rumbling sound coming from his front. It keeps getting closer and his sharp sense as a veteran tells him that something powerful is coming.

So Gildarts extends his right hand forward. It's covered with his Crush Magic, so whatever is coming at him will get crushed into pieces. After a while, something big finally hits his right hand. He smirks because he knows he has just stopped Alex's attack although he can't see what it is, thanks to the very thick mist that makes him can't even see his hands.

Gildarts wait for the next attacks to come, but nothing comes to him even after he waits for some minutes. He tries to sense Alex's magic power and finally realizes that he can't sense it anymore.

The mist starts to clear up and when it clears completely, Gildarts realizes that he has been had. Alex has passed through his area when he couldn't see anything. That previous attack was a distraction to shift his attention.

"Water?" Gildarts sees a big puddle of water in front of him. It's water from the magic spell he stopped earlier, a big Water Bullet.

Alex was shooting a powerful water bullet while rolling in mini Isobu form. He rolls right behind the water bullet and jumps above Gildarts when the examiner is distracted with the magic attack. It was easier than he thought and he passed Gildarts' area.

Actually, Alex doesn't need to defeat Gildarts even if they fight because it's impossible for the current him. He just needs to receive Gildarts' approval to pass, but that will still take too much energy, so what Alex does is actually better.

Now, he only needs to pass Makarov to finish the exam. Alex thinks that passing Makarov is more difficult than Gildarts. While Gildarts has more raw power, Makarov knows more magic, has more experience, and has more tricks.

Alex doubts the strategy he used on Laxus and Gildarts will work on Makarov. So he needs to think of another strategy and as usual, he discusses it with the Tailed Beasts. After they make a strategy, it's finally time to face Makarov.
