Fairy Tail: My Magic is the Sun

Chapter 40: Chapter 40: The Strongest Man

Location: Fairy Tail's coastline.

The air trembled with the force of destruction.

Jose—his mind shattered by the black heart's curse—swung his grotesque demonic blade in wild fury. Each strike cleaved the air with thunderous shockwaves, tearing the Magic Giant, still afloat on the sea, into jagged pieces that sank beneath the waves.

The two guilds' members, witnessing the devastation, scrambled back, retreating as far as possible.

"What level of battle is this...?" a Phantom Lord mage whispered, wide-eyed.

Erza's sharp voice cut through the chaos.

"Everyone, fall back! Stay clear of the coastline! Do not interfere with Escanor!"

She knew well that charging in would only cost precious lives.

Escanor's eyes narrowed, unwavering.

Jose's madness made him relentless, but Escanor's anticipation was sharper.

At the critical moment when Jose's blade thundered down, Escanor's hand transformed—his own arm turned into a radiant blade.

With a powerful clash, Jose's bone-sharp weapon shattered into two grotesque pieces.

Before Jose could recover, Escanor's other hand formed the blazing condensed core of Merciless Sun and slammed it mercilessly into Jose's chest.

A force like a solar flare blasted Jose into the sky.

Escanor brought his two fingers together, aimed sharply, and intoned:

"Exploding Arrogance!"

A searing explosion erupted, enveloping Jose in a devastating blast.

Jose's battered body fell from the sky, broken and bloody, scales shredded, one arm uselessly dangling.

Yet his eyes burned with feral defiance.

"Jose! Surrender! It's over!"

Jose did not respond. His gaze locked on Escanor like a predator's.

Suddenly, he slammed his palm down on the sea's surface, sending a towering splash swirling around him.

Trying to escape?

Escanor smirked, launching himself forward faster than any flame.

He intercepted Jose before he could reach the guild members.

But horror struck them all.

Jose's mouth stretched wide, revealing rows of jagged fangs.

He lunged toward his own Phantom Lord comrades.

Screams filled the air.

A nearby mage's throat was crushed in Jose's monstrous jaws, blood gushing as Jose greedily drank.

The mage's body withered instantly, drained like a dried husk.

Jose's wounds began to knit and close.

The members of Fairy Tail recoiled in shock and disgust.

Some vomited; others stared in silent terror.

Phantom Lord's ranks scattered, fleeing hopelessly.

But none could outrun the monster who once was their Master.

When the carnage ceased, several withered corpses littered the sands—and Jose stood healed, unstoppable.

Escanor's calm voice cut through the horror.

"They brought this upon themselves."

Jose's bloodied footsteps carried him toward Aria, the leader of Phantom Lord's Elemental Four.

Aria, frozen in fear, stumbled backward, trapped.

Her voice cracked.

"Master! Please... spare me... I beg you..."

Before she could finish, Jose's claws raked her chest.

Her body withered into a dry husk in an instant.

Jose tossed her corpse aside like trash.

He turned his blood-streaked gaze to the next target—Juvia, the Rain Woman.

Juvia unleashed torrents of water, desperate to stem the monster's advance.

Streams crashed, soaked the sands—but Jose barely flinched.

With a brutal swing, he knocked Juvia to the ground.

Her necklace, a golden crystal pendant, slipped from her neck.

Escanor's eyes caught it.

"It's her..."

Juvia clutched the crystal, trembling but resolute.

Jose's claws curled, inches from her throat.

She closed her eyes, preparing to die.

A thunderous roar interrupted.

A massive figure burst forth, slamming Jose away.

"You are...?"

The newcomer's voice was a familiar warmth.

"Long time no see, Little Rain Woman~"

Juvia's eyes widened in disbelief.

The man she'd dreamed of, the one she thought lost—had returned.

Escanor charged forward.

He caught Jose mid-air.

His fist crashed down with the power of a sunburst.

"Boom!"

Black and red blood exploded from Jose's mouth, swirling in the sky like smoke.

Jose crashed onto the beach, broken and gasping.

"Your end has come, Jose!"

But Jose's mind was fracturing further.

A whisper echoed inside his thoughts:

"Give it to me, give everything to me..."

His body trembled, veins pulsing violently.

A black mist erupted from his chest, engulfing him.

Escanor's eyes narrowed.

He knew this magic too well.

The mist faded.

Jose stood fully healed—his body no longer his own.

"Not Jose... but Ankhseram," Escanor realized.

The demon's cold laugh sent chills down everyone's spines.

"I had to take over that idiot's body... help him out."

Escanor adopted a serious stance, flames beginning to ignite around him.

"Ankhseram... do you know the temperature of the sun?"

Ankhseram ignored the question, raising two massive, barbed arms.

Bone blades erupted from his palms.

With a roar, he charged.

His movement was too fast to see.

But when the blade cut through the air—

It melted.

Ankhseram's eyes widened in shock.

Escanor stood like a god.

His hair blazed with fire, his body cloaked in living flames.

Behind him, a golden wheel of light spun, radiating unbearable heat.

Steam rose from the sea.

The water level around the coast began to drop.

Lips cracked, people gasped in distant towns as water dried up.

"Could it be... you've already...!!"

Escanor's voice cut off Ankhseram's taunt.

"Enough talk. Holy Sword... Escanor."

With a swift motion, Escanor sliced horizontally.

Ankhseram's body split cleanly in two.

Blackened, charred flesh smoked and crumbled.

"It's useless... my body is immortal... What... it cannot regenerate."

Charred cracks spread fast.

Escanor's flames licked the wound.

"In this state, everything you touch turns to ash! Ankhseram, you're finished!"

The demon's voice hissed through the wind.

"Don't celebrate. I've lost this battle... but one day, I will grind you to dust!"

With a final burst of dark power, the charcoal ashes scattered into the breeze.

Escanor exhaled deeply, flames fading.

He turned to the Fairy Tail guild members waiting on the coastline.

"We won..."

The crowd erupted.

"WE WON!!!"

"Escanor! Escanor!"

The strongest man in the magic world stood triumphant.

His flames burning brighter than ever, the beacon of hope for all who dared stand against darkness.
