Fairy Tail: My Magic is the Sun

Chapter 44: Chapter 44: God’s Emblem

Location: Onboard the ship, cruising toward the next destination

The gentle rocking of the boat beneath their feet, the endless horizon ahead — the sea was calm, a perfect escape from recent chaos. Everyone aboard relaxed, soaking in the sunlight and salty breeze. Escanor strolled leisurely, savoring the peace.

But Mira and Erza weren't about to let that slide.

"Escanor!" The two simultaneously grabbed his ears, tugging him into a small cabin. "How can you just break your promise? What about helping us get stronger?"

Escanor winced, rubbing his ears. "Ow, ow! Let me explain. You have to hear me out first."

They released him, suspicion still written on their faces.

"Well," Escanor began, settling down opposite them, "I've been thinking… When I gave Lucy the power to summon the Celestial Spirit King, it sparked an idea."

Erza tilted her head. "What kind of idea?"

Escanor's eyes gleamed. "It's about magic crests. You know Fairy Glitter? The ancient magic that links the caster's power to the light of sun, moon, and stars? The crest they use to guide that magic—it's a unique arrangement of magic energy."

He tapped his chest. "I've been working on modifying that crest, carving it into the body like a tattoo. It's like a machine that never stops, constantly refining magic power within and enhancing sensitivity to external magic."

Mira's eyes widened. "You mean… this crest could connect us directly to your magic?"

"Exactly. You two are my Divine Attendants. Your ability to accept my magic is the highest. But it's still a hypothesis."

Mira volunteered immediately. "Test it on me first!"

Escanor nodded and began tracing the crest onto her chest, near her heart—where magic and life force converge.

His sun magic shimmered, burning gently as the crest formed—bright and intricate like a seal of ancient power.

Mira felt a sudden warmth, a surge flooding her magic core. Her eyes snapped open, glowing with an unearthly light.

"Wait—this feeling…!"

Escanor hastily erected a protective barrier around the room.

Mira's body shifted as she called forth, "Take Over: Satan Soul: Halphas!"

The transformation was fierce, forbidden by Makarov for its destructive potential. But now, Mira moved with uncanny control, the demonic power at her fingertips—calm, precise, terrifying.

A swipe of her claw shattered the space around them, sending cracks through the barrier.

Erza's mouth hung open in disbelief.

As Mira released the form, she closed her eyes and focused on the crest.

She could feel Escanor's magic streaming into her body continuously, quietly refining and growing her own power.

"Divine magic… this is divine magic," Mira whispered. "If this spreads… the power…"

Erza was already restless. Without hesitation, she shed her armor and clothing.

Escanor followed suit, and soon golden magic began to flow between them.

Erza intended to don her Black Dragon Armor once more, but as she concentrated, a sudden shimmer appeared inside her magic source.

A weapon—a blazing long katana—materialized.

"This… what is this?" Erza asked, astonished.

The weapon pulsed with her own magic and also with Escanor's blazing aura.

Escanor frowned. "This sword is unlike anything I've seen in your magic source."

Erza summoned it fully, flames licking along its blade, burning hotter and hotter until even Mira had to brace against the rising heat.

"This weapon's sealed, but it holds immense power," Escanor muttered.

Erza glanced at him, suspicion flickering in her eyes.

Without an answer, they left the cabin and flew to a nearby rocky island.

Erza raised the katana high, channeling her magic, then swung down in a blinding arc.

A fiery blade erupted, scorching the entire island. Flames blasted the earth, sending ash and smoke swirling into the sky.

Escanor quickly raised a barrier, stabilizing the ocean waves to prevent a tsunami.

The island began to sink beneath the flames.

Escanor frowned deeply. "This is definitely my magic power… but why like this?"

Erza's voice dropped to a whisper. "The katana's name… 'Blazing Katana.' And it's still sealed. When I summoned it, strange memories flooded my mind."

Escanor caught Erza's glance, sensing the unspoken question.

For now, answers would have to wait.

They returned to the ship, where Mira and Erza promptly booted Escanor out of the cabin.

"We need to get used to this magic… You'll have to find somewhere else to sleep tonight."

Escanor stood by the door, a wry smile creeping across his face.

Heh… women.
