Fairy Tail: The Divine Soul

Ryuu was currently walking through Magnolia, heading towards the forest. His face showed no emotion, and his steps were almost slow as he kept his gaze fixed on the ground. The merchants of Magnolia stared at him in surprise, not expecting the usually cheerful and childlike mage to wear such an expressionless face.

Continuing his walk to the forest, Ryuu didn't lift his head even once. He walked without stopping or looking around until he reached a cave deep in the Magnolia forest. It was only then that he raised his head to look at the forest with a pensive gaze. He then moved forward, entering the cave until he reached the very back, where he stopped and stared at a large rock on the ground with a name carved into it:

Lissana

Ryuu stared at the grave for a moment before sitting down on the ground, his head resting against the rocky wall of the cave.

"Nothing… They didn't find anything… Not your body… Not your magic… Nothing… ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, DAMN IT!" he shouted, his voice echoing in the cave. After his cry, he took a few deep breaths, memories of what had happened yesterday flooding his mind.

Flashback

As Erza and Ryuu were being escorted to the council chamber following their summons, a man with blue hair and a red tattoo on the left side of his face stepped out from behind a pillar.

"Well, it's been a while, Erza."

"Seigrain..." Erza muttered his name, her gaze turning cold and sharp as she glared at him.

The man, named Seigrain, turned toward the frog-like humanoid accompanying them.

"It's fine. You can leave. I'll take care of them," he said calmly. Hearing this, the humanoid frog nodded and left without a word.

Seigrain then approached Erza, while Ryuu moved slightly back to give them space to talk. However, he stayed close enough to intervene in case Seigrain tried anything against Erza.

"Still as beautiful as ever, I see," Seigrain remarked with a sly smirk as he looked at Erza.

"What do you want? Get straight to the point. We're here to meet the Magic Council."

"Oh, don't worry about that, Erza," Seigrain replied dismissively.

As their conversation continued, Ryuu stood behind them, rocking back and forth on his feet as he watched and listened, curious about how the two knew each other. Suddenly, Ryuu heard a voice.

"Ahem, ahem... Can you hear me, young Ryuu?"

Startled by the voice, Ryuu began looking around.

"Huh... Who's there?" Unfortunately for him, he said this out loud, drawing the attention of both Erza and Seigrain, who turned toward him.

"Ah, sorry... please, continue your conversation," Ryuu said, waving his hand to signal them to carry on.

"Hahaha... I'm speaking to you in your head, young Ryuu. And to answer your question, it's me, Master Yajima. Do you remember me?"

"Yeah, I remember. You're the old dwarf from the council I ran into before my 100-year quest."

"Hahaha, though it's disrespectful to call me a dwarf, you're right, it's me. Do you know why you were summoned?"

"Yeah, the frog guy said you wanted to ask me questions about my mission."

"That's partially true, but not entirely. I'm the one who requested that you be summoned… The questions are just a way to convince the other members to agree to your summons."

"Mhm, I see. So, what do you want from me?"

"Do you remember the request you made of me before leaving on your quest… the request about Lisanna Strauss?" Upon hearing this, Ryuu's expression turned serious.

"...I remember. So, did you find something?"

"Well, I was following a lead…" Yajima was interrupted by Ryuu.

"REALLY? Tell me where—I'll go right now!"

"Calm down, young man. I did have a lead, but… unfortunately, the chances of her being alive are close to zero."

"Are you serious..." Ryuu lowered his head and looked at the ground for the first time since arriving in Era.

"Yes, young man. I think you should forget about this and move on… I literally found nothing. No body, not even a trace of her magic, anywhere in Ishgar."

"I see… Thank you for taking the time to help me."

"It's nothing…" With that, the telepathic connection was cut, leaving Ryuu alone with his thoughts. Further ahead, Erza, who had just finished her conversation with Seigrain, looked at Ryuu with a furrowed brow.

With Yajima

"Pffff... I'm sorry, young Ryuu, but you need to move on. Like Makarov told me, it's better that you don't hold on to false hope." With that thought, Yajima prepared for the upcoming meeting with the council members to ask questions to Erza and Ryuu.

End of Flashback

"Why... Even after four years, we couldn't find you. Are you really dead?… But no one dies by disappearing in light... We live in a magical world; anything can still happen... Does that mean I have to move on? I... I'm sorry... sniff... I'm really sorry, Lisanna... sniff... I didn't keep my promise... sniff... I promised to protect you... sniff... But I couldn't even do that... I left, hoping to move on... sniff... hoping I could find something to ease my sadness... sniff... Even the woman I love doesn't talk to me anymore... sniff... Am I a coward for leaving? sniff... I'm... sniff... I'm... sniff... so sorry, little sister..."

After finishing, Ryuu knelt in front of Lisanna's grave, his head on the ground, and began to cry. His tears didn't stop until he fell asleep in that position.

The next day, Ryuu woke up with a sore back. Looking around, he realized he had fallen asleep in the cave. He stood up, glanced at Lisanna's grave, and then pulled a necklace from his pocket, with a blue gem inside.

Flashback

In the Fairy Tail guild, we see a young Ryuu sitting at a table with his head resting on it. Next to him are Natsu, Happy, and Gray, all in the same position.

"I'm bored..."

"Hahaha, you four never change."

The four of them lifted their heads to see Lisanna looking at them with a big smile.

"What's with that smile on your face?"

"EHHH, since when am I not allowed to smile, Ryuu?"

"Well, you can smile, but usually your smile is cute. This time, it's more like a 'look at me' smile." The four of them turned their heads away from Lisanna, continuing to look in the opposite direction, heads still on the table.

"…And here I was with a gift for you, Ryuu... Oh well." Lisanna frowned and turned her head away as well.

Hearing this, Ryuu jumped up and stood in front of Lisanna, a big smile on his face.

"You should've said that earlier, so what is it?"

Lisanna stared at him for a moment, sweat dripping down her face, before pulling a necklace from her pocket.

"Tada! Here's a necklace with a blue gem that matches your hair!" Lisanna smiled broadly as she showed the necklace.

"A necklace..." Ryuu looked at her, puzzled.

"Yes, this necklace is my gift for you. With this necklace, you'll be my big brother, just for me."

Ryuu looked at her a bit surprised before glancing at the necklace and putting it around his neck.

"Okay, from now on, I'm your big brother, just for you, and I'll protect this necklace with my life. It will be my greatest treasure. Hahahaha!" Ryuu laughed before running around the guild, showing off his new necklace.

End of Flashback

Ryuu looked at the necklace with a small smile before putting it around his neck.

"I'll protect it with my life... It will be my greatest treasure, little sister."

Saying this, Ryuu turned around and left the cave.
