Chapter 26: Fairy 25: Trap Along with Spiders – Part 3
The reason why Zack is on this mission along with Gray, is to learn how to fight against multiple people at once.
This is the reason why he took on the Bandit Subjugate mission. All so he can learn to fight with more than one person at the same time.
Zack has little interest in money, or more like, he does, it he just doesn't understand how money plays a role in maintaining a harem.
So, he decided to put the money part of harems aside, until he understands it.
He needs to understand love itself, before anything else.
But when he thought about this love thing, for some reason… Mirajane face came to mind, confusing our clueless protagonist.
"Ahh… this is a pain, either this is the wrong place or not, doesn't matter. What matters what to do with these damned spiders. We need to get rid of them, but… if this place not a new Monster Den, cleaning out a nest of Monster Spiders going be hell to deal with… unless we can demolish the mine in one ago…"
Gray went, as he caused Zack to snapped out of his thoughts of Mirajane.
"Eh? But if we do that, wouldn't harmed the spiders as well?" Zack went, causing Gray to sighed, but he did expect this kind of response from the clueless Zack.
"That is the point, Monsters are dangerous, not to mention, if I recall there is a village near here. The reason why we are here, is to capture Bandits. However, Bandits or not can wait, Zack as Wizards, and as human beings, we cannot just look over this, I know this might be hard for you to understand, but Fairy Tail doesn't turned their back, when we knew it is not right."
Gray went, knowing he wouldn't be able to show his face to the others in the guild, if they knew he overlooked this Monster Den. But even so, Gray at this moment, cannot create something to level the abandoned mine in one go.
But Zack is different, his Magic specialize in destroying things in huge areas.
Zack looked at Gray, then at the Spiders, he is right, Monsters meant to either be tamed or slayed if they are a danger to Humans. That is one of the roles of a Wizard, which is why he took a deep breath, and about to use Sky Shatter on the abandoned Mine.
In order to destroy someone complex like the mine in one go, he has to use all of his B-Class Magic Power in one ago.
Or that was Zack intentions, as he halted the flow of Magic Power, as he could feel something heading towards Zack and Gray, along with a faint intent coming from what seems like an arrowed head bolt aiming towards them!
(AN: Before anyone points it out. Zack range is 20 with Observation Haki, and crossbows has the range of 100+ meters, so it only reasonable Zack didn't sense them)
"Gray, an attack!!" Zack shouted, as he used his Haki to covered his arms, and even used the tensed of his muscles, Iron Mass from the Six Styles, to block not just one, but dozens of bolts aiming for them!
Gray on the other hand, also noticed the incoming bolts, as he cursed it seems to be the third option of his analysed guesses.
And used Ice Make to create a shield of ice to block the storm of bolts landing on them.
As soon the bolts are fired, and hit the body of Zack, and the Ice Shield in Gray's hands. Zack felt the auras behind him, the monsters in the cave, are leaving one by one?
"Gray, the monsters behind us!" Zack warned, calling Gray out for the second time, who bitten his lips.
Unlike Zack, that still lacking in knowledge. Gray knew, if they being attacked by human weapons, and the Monsters behind left the cave from the moment they are attacked… only meant one thing.
These monsters are most likely controlled or tamed!
This means a Wizard is involved in this Bandit Subjugate Mission, making this Normal Mission danger level higher compared it should be.
With a long sigh, Gray's Ice Shield disappeared like mist, as he slapped his hands together, creating a mass of ice, only for him to shattered the mass of ice into dozens of shards of ice, forming into arrows, before they fired at the Spider Monsters behind them!
Ice Arrows, the spell that Gray used via his Ice Make Magic, shoot at the spiders, but the arrows made of ice only managed to kill around four of five of the D-Class spiders, while the rest of the D-Class spiders managed to avoid them!
And the C-Class spiders? They didn't even bother to avoid the incoming Ice Arrows, as their rocky thick bodies blocked the arrows, as only one among them got unlucky to have an arrow stabbed in one of their many eyes.
Gray looked at the spiders and knew what they are. Hopper Spiders, a D-Class Monster, that are 1m in size, but 2m with their legs, they have low defence, but high agility even among D-Class monsters.
And Rocky Spiders, a C-Class Monster, known for their slowness but hard body. And they also known to spat out stones as form of attacks.
With bandits in the distance with crossbows, and now Monsters from the cave, Gray knew this was a planned attack… but he doesn't understand why they are targeting them.
Zack who has his arms and hands covered in Armament Haki, kept a sharp eye towards the forest around them, his senses still cannot pick on the auras of the Bandits, until one of them got boldly closer to them, and aimed their crossbow at him.
"I leave the spiders to you, Gray!" Zack went with a grin, as he used Shave before Gray could complain having dozens of D-Class and few C-Class Monsters to face alone!
Yes, it seems to be more coming out of the cave, heading towards them, besides the ones Zack already detected at the entrance of the mine.
Zack has to use Shave two more times, because the distance he could use to travel instantly with Shave is 7m at once.
This is why, the Bandits who saw this, became started and even frighten, seeing that Zack instantly disappeared and reappeared for a total of three times, before he appeared behind the unnoticed Bandit that came closer to the duo, only to have his head slammed into the ground, by Zack's hand.
Zack didn't stop there, as more bolts fired at him, Zack used Paper Drawing to avoid the first set of bolts that misses him, before he uses Shave twice in a row, to appeared behind a bandit only to grabbed and throw that bandit to another one.
As the bandit became a throwing star, and crushes into one of his brothers.
Zack uses his Haki abilities, to senses total of dozen of Bandits, half of them aiming their crossbows, and the other half took out either swords or daggers.
The way they move, and the way they ready their daggers and swords, caused Zack to narrowed his eyes, seeing these Bandits seems to have some experience fighting, told Zack these are the second type of Bandits, the skilled Bandits, those that has some level of martial arts.
And this also proven true, as Zack eyes widen, as he saw a ball with a fuse, is thrown at him, Zack looked confused seeing such a thing, which is why due to his clueless nature.
The ball, or smoke bomb blasted with smoke blinding Zack, this causes two of the Bandits to rushes with daggers in their hands, towards Zack.
However, their intentions, and their aura cannot be hidden, even if they take away Zack's eyesight. Because Observation Haki allowed Zack to sense through the blindness of the smoke, as he turned around, towards the two Bandits that are wearing goggles.
And dodged and avoid each and every attack of theirs.
Zack grinned, knowing it is the perfect time to trained in fighting more than one person. Which is why he didn't use his Magic, or even attack, but just avoid, learning and experiencing what it like to fight more than one person.
Over time, more Bandits joined in the attacks, as five Bandits attacked Zack from behind, front, and his sides, making Zack use either Shave or Paper Drawing to avoid them.
More they attack, more he learned how to use such techniques within fights that made him fight against more than one person.

'What kind of monster is this!?'
Thought one of the Bandits, who cannot help but to cursed, seeing a Wizard who not only grinned, as they danced between them, avoiding all of their attacks, but smiled like a madman while doing so!
Anyone can see this monster is not taking them serious at all, and of course, while this indeed made him and the other Bandits furious and irritated the Wizard not taking them seriously.
But also fear begin to dwell with them, knowing his monster that dancing around them, could actually defeat them in mere moments, but because he chooses not to, made the Bandits fear this monster more and more each passing second.
How can they not feel both fear and hatred, when seeing the monster avoided their attack, with no effort? Each time he sees that smile, as if the Wizard is enjoying himself. The Bandit felt a cold chill down his spine.
The Bandit knew he is not the only who he felt this way.
With fear and frustration dwelling with him. the Bandit aimed their crossbow 3m between him, and this monster. And fired the bolt in the crossbow at the monster!
However, even if the monster's back is facing him, they still effortlessly, like folding paper, avoided the bolt aimed behind them!
The Bandit felt they became unable to breath, seeing the monster's green eyes stared at them. And yet, even if their eyes locked for a mere moment, the Wizard seems unbothered by the attack, and still did nothing, bit avoided their attack, causing deeper fear within not just himself, but all Bandits here.
In the end of the day, even if they are Bandits, criminals. They are also just people, those born with the ability to use Magic Power.
They can use tricks, weapons, and lies to bring down Wizards. Even if that is true, those tricks, their strength are still nothing when face with those that held strength above C-Class.
Which is why, they decided to abandoned close combat, and flee.
Or that was their new goal, before the monstrous teenager decided it was time to stop playing around.
And when playtime ended, each Bandit began to drop one by one, as the monster that became serious only needed tens of seconds to knocked everyone before this Bandit down in series of rapid movements.
As the last one remaining, he watches as his brothers became knocked out, as if they facing not a human, but a ghost, with this inhuman level of speed. Before the Bandit knew it, a black steel like fist was the last thing they saw, when this ghost-like monster got them too.
