Fairy Tale: With Sin Of Pride

Chapter 133: Chapter 117: The Original Soul

"Don't worry. Leave it to me. The rest is of no concern," Rhodes said, his voice calm but resolute.

He closed his eyes, his consciousness delving into the girl's mind, navigating her fragile inner world. Before him, the most primitive form of her soul took shape—a shimmering, fragile sphere of water, trembling under an unseen force.

Rhodes frowned. "A soul in its raw form, like water. No wonder it's so easily eroded," he murmured.

Nearby, he noticed something sinister—a flame burning beside the soul, its heat evaporating the water bit by bit. As he examined it closely, realization struck.

"The fire… it's not natural. It carries the essence of another soul—a dragon's soul. So, my suspicion was correct."

Rhodes wasted no time. Placing his hand over the girl's soul, a brilliant silver light radiated from his palm, washing over the water. The light intensified, causing the puddle to expand and transform into a flowing stream, filling the gaps left by the flame's destruction.

The flames hissed as the water extinguished them, and the burning presence that had been tormenting her soul vanished.

"Light," Rhodes mused aloud, "is more than a force of protection. It can destroy just as effectively."

---

Outside, the girl's pale complexion began to flush with life. Her shallow breaths deepened, and the vacant look in her eyes gave way to confusion.

"What happened…?" she whispered hoarsely.

The Dwarf King leaned forward, his voice gentle but firm. "You're safe now. Can you tell us what happened?"

The girl hesitated, her eyes darting between the Dwarf King and Rhodes. For a moment, she seemed grateful, but then her expression shifted.

"I… I was attacked by wild beasts. They were ferocious, and all my companions were killed!"

Rhodes raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. "You're lying," he said, his voice cutting through the tension. "I saved your soul. Do you think I wouldn't notice its true state? Don't insult my intelligence."

The girl flinched, realizing she couldn't bluff her way out. For the first time, she noticed Rhodes sitting at the head of the room. This was no dwarven kingdom—it was under human control.

"So what if I lied?" she snapped. "What can you do about it?"

Rhodes regarded her coldly. "Ungrateful and arrogant. If that's how you feel, you're free to leave. Take her out of the city," he instructed the Dwarf King. "We saved her life, and now we're done. Let her face the wild alone."

The Dwarf King nodded, signaling for guards to escort her.

---

The girl panicked as the guards approached. "Wait! You can't do this! You don't even know who I am!"

Rhodes paused mid-step but didn't turn around.

"I am Moli Lai Xaya, princess of the Rhine Empire! I'm the king's daughter! You can't just throw me out into the wilderness—it's too dangerous!"

The Dwarf King looked at Rhodes for guidance, but the latter simply walked away. Realizing she was on the verge of being abandoned, the girl blurted out the truth.

"I'll tell you everything! Just don't throw me out there!"

The Dwarf King nodded. "Speak, and you'll be returned to your people safely. Refuse, and we'll do as the lord commands."

---

Tears welled in the princess's eyes as she recounted her story. "I came here with my team to search for clues about a dragon. We heard rumors, but… it was all a trap. My companions… they're all gone."

Rhodes listened from the shadows, his fingers tapping the table rhythmically.

"So, the rumors were bait to lure her here," he muttered. "And there really is a dragon in that place."

The Dwarf King interjected, "There's more, sir. This wasn't just bad luck. Someone orchestrated this. They wanted the princess to die here—to ignite a war."

Rhodes narrowed his eyes. "A war? Who stands to gain from such chaos?"

The Dwarf King nodded gravely. "The princess admitted that a masked man fed her the information about the dragon. From boasting about a dragon's power to enticing her to find one, it was all meticulously planned."

Rhodes fell silent, his gaze distant. "Someone on the Gods' Death Continent is scheming for war… an empire, a kingdom, or perhaps another race altogether?"

The Dwarf King awaited his orders patiently.

"Send scouts to locate the dragon," Rhodes finally commanded. "If it exists, we need to find it. Even a young dragon is a treasure too valuable to ignore. And inform the Rhine Empire. Tell them their princess is safe and can be retrieved. Charge them the standard price for her rescue."

"Yes, sir!"

The Dwarf King bowed and left to execute the orders.

---

Rhodes stepped outside, his body vanishing into the air. He soared over the landscape, searching for the rumored dragon. But after scouring the skies, he found nothing.

Returning to the city with a trace of disappointment, Rhodes was greeted by one of his subordinates.

"Sir, I have an idea I'd like to propose."

Rhodes gestured for him to continue. "Speak."

"I want to establish a magic academy."

Lol not to brag but I'm really changing the story a bit for better. Well it's more in short scenes tho.
