Fate: Edmund

Chapter 15: Chapter 15

From his elevated position, Kiritsugu Emiya observed the intense battle between Saber and Lancer with a mix of fascination. It wasn't the first time he had witnessed a clash between Servants, but the ferocity and skill displayed in this fight were on an entirely different level.

As he adjusted his visor and analyzed every movement, he noticed Irisviel von Einzbern standing a few meters away from Saber, watching the battle with visible awe.

Irisviel, with her elegant demeanor but a heart pounding with the excitement of the fight, observed every exchange of blows with a mix of wonder and concern. She was close enough to feel the pressure of the attacks and the intensity of the combat, yet she held her ground, trusting Saber to protect her if necessary.

"This is the reality of the Holy Grail War," Irisviel thought, lightly clenching her hands. "A deadly struggle between legends."

Kiritsugu, from his vantage point, never took his eyes off the battle. He knew that every move could reveal something crucial about Lancer or his Master. In his communicator, Maiya's voice echoed in his ear, informing him about the surroundings.

"All clear for now, but there's suspicious activity nearby," Maiya said.

Kiritsugu adjusted his visor's lens as he noticed something in the shadows. A hooded figure moved stealthily among the containers near the docks.

"Assassin," he murmured to himself. Without wasting time, he connected with Maiya again.

"Maiya, we have a possible Assassin in the area. Track them and keep a close watch. I want to know what they're doing here."

"Understood," Maiya responded firmly.

As Maiya moved to intercept Assassin, Kiritsugu turned his attention back to the fight, adjusting his sniper rifle to search for Lancer's Master. He knew Kayneth Archibald had to be nearby, but his magical field of protection made him undetectable.

"There's always a blind spot," he thought as he scanned the area.

...........

At the docks, the battle reached its climax. Hector of Troy began to intensify his attacks, his spear moving with overwhelming speed and power. The carefree smile on his face contrasted with the fierce determination in Saber's eyes. But just as the tide started to shift slightly in Hector's favor, the Trojan warrior made an unexpected decision.

With a calculated move, Hector struck the ground with his spear, kicking up a cloud of dust and debris that enveloped Saber. The sudden distraction gave him an opening, and he lunged forward with a direct strike aimed at Saber's torso. Arturia reacted swiftly, deflecting the blow with her sword, but she couldn't completely avoid the spear, which grazed her shoulder.

The impact was significant. Saber staggered back, a grimace of pain crossing her face as she clutched her wounded shoulder. Seeing her Servant in danger, Irisviel rushed to her side.

"Saber, wait!" she exclaimed, placing her hands over the wound. The sheath of Excalibur, hidden within her body, released a soft golden light that began to heal the injury.

Arturia closed her eyes momentarily, feeling relief spread through her arm. Once the wound had fully disappeared, she stood up and gave Irisviel a small nod.

"Thank you, Irisviel."

Then, she turned her attention back to Hector, her gaze filled with determination—and a hint of disapproval.

"Lancer! Why do you resort to such dishonorable tricks? This is unworthy of a knight!"

Hector shrugged, resting his spear on his shoulder once more, his smile carrying the air of a man who had seen far too much in his lifetime.

"Oh, come on, knight! War isn't fair—it never has been. Do you think the Greeks cared about honor when they brought the horse to our gates? What matters is survival and protecting your own. If that means being creative, then so be it."

The comment sparked an immediate reaction. Kayneth, hidden but listening to the battle, clenched his fists in frustration.

"Hector! You idiot! You just revealed your identity!" he growled under his breath, though he knew his Servant could hear him through their magical connection.

Hector glanced toward the spot where he sensed his Master's presence and smiled guiltily.

"Oops. Sorry, Master. It just slipped out," he said playfully before turning back to Saber. "But don't worry, I have no weaknesses you can exploit. My story is as clean as my spear."

Kiritsugu, Irisviel, and the other Masters watching from a distance—including Tokiomi and Kirei—were surprised by this revelation. Saber also showed a brief expression of astonishment before offering a slight smile.

"Lancer, you have revealed your identity," she said calmly.

Hector simply shrugged again.

"It doesn't matter. You won't gain any advantage from it!"

However, in his mind, Hector frowned.

"Damn. She can heal herself. That complicates things."

Despite this concern, he maintained his carefree demeanor and raised his spear once more.

In his hotel suite, Edmund observed everything closely while relaxing in his bathtub, the steam from the water surrounding his face. With a glass of wine in hand, he let out a soft chuckle.

"I wasn't expecting this development. For Hector to reveal his identity so casually… but of course, that's just like him."

He took another sip of wine, enjoying the spectacle with ease.

............

The forest surrounding the cabin was calm, except for the sounds of Waver's familiars transmitting the intense battle at the docks. Waver Velvet, his fists clenched, watched the fight between Saber and Lancer on one of the magical screens he had set up.

The skill and strength of both Servants had him on the verge of panic.

"This is… too much," he murmured to himself, as the sparks from Lancer's spear and Saber's invisible sword lit up the night on the screen. "How can we possibly compete with that?"

Beside him, Rider leaned in slightly, observing the same scene with a serene expression.

"Don't worry, Master," he said with a calm smile. "I'm just as strong as they are. You have nothing to fear."

Waver looked at him with a mix of doubt and hope.

"Really? But…" he paused, recalling the parameters he had managed to discern from the other two Servants.

"Their abilities are incredible. And you…"

Rider noticed his Master's hesitation and smiled with even more confidence.

"I understand your doubts," he responded in a kind tone. "But maybe you need a little demonstration to feel more at ease. Watch closely, Master. I'll show you what I'm capable of."

Without another word, Perseus activated one of his Noble Phantasms: the Winged Sandals. In an instant, a pair of elegant golden sandals with small wings appeared on his feet, glowing with magical energy that filled the room. Waver took a step back, startled by the sudden manifestation of power.

"These are the Winged Sandals given to me by Hermes," Rider explained, lifting one foot with a grin.

"They allow me to fly and reach unparalleled speeds. Now, watch."

Before Waver could respond, Rider dashed out of the cabin in a swift motion. The sandals fully activated, and in the blink of an eye, Perseus soared into the sky, leaving a trail of light behind him. Although the docks were far from their position, Rider's speed carried him to the battlefield in no time.

.........

At the docks, Saber and Lancer continued their battle. Neither had managed to gain a clear advantage, and every attack was met with an equally impressive defense. Completely focused on their fight, the two Servants barely noticed the presence approaching from the sky.

It was only when a distinct magical energy filled the air that they momentarily paused, their senses on high alert. A figure was rapidly descending toward the battlefield, and in an instant, Rider landed gracefully behind Irisviel.

With a relaxed smile, Perseus tilted his head slightly and said,

"I'm here, Master. Just watch what I can do."

Irisviel turned, startled by the sudden appearance of another Servant, but she had no time to react before Saber, alarmed by Rider's proximity, shifted her attention away from Lancer. The British knight stepped forward, positioning herself protectively in front of Irisviel, her invisible sword aimed directly at Rider.

"Stay away from her!" Saber exclaimed as she charged toward Rider with astonishing speed.

Her sword traced an arc toward Perseus's chest, but he dodged the attack effortlessly, sidestepping with the ease granted by his Winged Sandals.

"Easy, easy," Rider said with a calm smile as he backed away slightly.

"I'm not here to hurt anyone. I just want to show off a little. No need to be so aggressive!"

Saber didn't lower her guard. Her eyes remained locked on Rider, noting how his movements were fluid and calculated.

Meanwhile, Lancer, who had been watching Rider's arrival with a raised eyebrow, crossed his arms and sighed.

"Well, well! Looks like things just got more interesting," he said in a relaxed tone. "But don't tell me we have to fight him now too. This is starting to feel like a party."

Under the clear night sky, the tension grew as the three Servants faced off, while the observers—both the Masters and Edmund from his bathtub—waited in anticipation for the next move.

................

In reality, it differs who gave Hermes's sandals to Perseus, one says it was Hermes and the other the sisters. I'll stay with Hermes, that's all.
