Fate: Edmund

Chapter 9: Chapter 9

Surrounded by the lush vegetation of the mountains, Waver Velvet watched as the sun's rays barely filtered through the dense canopy of trees. Although it was broad daylight, the place was so isolated that no one could perceive the energy released by his summoning. Still breathing with some agitation after the ritual, he looked at his new servant.

Perseus, with a presence that radiated confidence and serenity, surveyed his surroundings before fixing his eyes on Waver.

"You did a fine job, Master," he commented with a faint smile.

"It seems this place was chosen wisely."

Waver nodded as he caught his breath. He was still feeling the effects of the vial Edmund had given him. His body was charged with energy, but he was also experiencing a slight tension in the magical circuits. The energy flowed like an untamed torrent, causing his concentration to waver at times.

"I didn't want to draw attention to myself," Waver explained as he wiped the sweat from his brow.

"This place... it's safe and secluded enough to avoid any interference."

Perseus tilted his head slightly, appraising his young master. He had sensed his nervousness, but he also admired the determination with which he completed the ritual.

"You seem to be inexperienced in this sort of thing, but that's not a problem. I'm here to support you, Master."

The confidence in Rider's words made Waver feel slightly calmer. However, he couldn't help but feel small before the figure of the hero who was now under his command.

"What are your skills, Rider? I need to know what I can expect from you in this war," he asked, trying to sound authoritative."

Perseus folded his arms and replied calmly.

"My skills focus on melee combat and agility. In addition, I possess Noble Phantasms that can be decisive at the right time. But first, Master, I must ask you something? What do you expect from this war, what is your ultimate goal?"

Waver was silent for a moment. The question took him by surprise, but he knew that sooner or later he would have to face that reality. His initial goal was to prove that even someone with limited magical heritage could stand out among the best. But now that he had Perseus in front of him, however, he felt that justification was not enough.

"I want to... prove myself," he finally admitted.

"I want other mages to recognize that you don't need an ancient bloodline to succeed. This is my moment to change my destiny."

Perseus smiled again, this time with a glint of admiration in his eyes.

"It is a noble wish, Master. If you are willing to fight with determination, I will do everything in my power to help you achieve that goal."

The connection between the two solidified with those words. Waver felt a little more confident, though he was still far from feeling prepared for what lay ahead.

"Good," Waver said, straightening up and looking around.

"We have a lot to prepare for. This war won't be easy, but I'm not willing to back down"

Once in the hut, Waver began to organize his plan of action. With the help of the documents Edmund had given him, he began to analyze the possible strategies of the other masters. Meanwhile, Perseus stood nearby, watching as his young master worked with determination.

"Although my master seems inexperienced, he has potential" thought Perseus as he crossed his arms and closed his eyes briefly.

"We'll have to rely on each other to get through this war."

Waver paused to check Rider's parameters again. The results were in front of him.

Strength: C+

Endurance: C

Agility: B+

Mana: B+

Luck: A+

Noble Phantasm: B+

"It looks like your skills are balanced" Waver commented aloud.

"I'll have to come up with a strategy that takes full advantage of your strengths."

Rider widened his eyes and nodded confidently.

"We will do what it takes to win, Master. But remember: a good strategy doesn't always guarantee victory. You'll also need determination and, sometimes, a bit of luck.

Waver smiled slightly, though he still felt the pressure of the challenge ahead of him. However, something in Rider's words gave him the motivation he needed to keep going.

"Thank you, Rider. I promise I won't let you down."

With those words, Waver returned to his notes, ready to prepare for what would be the battle of his life.
