Fate: Edmund

Chapter 8: Chapter 8

Inside the cabin, Waver took a seat at the table and opened the briefcase Edmund had handed him. The contents were extensive: detailed reports on the participants of the Holy Grail War.

With the candle burning in the darkened room, Waver began to read, immersing himself in each page as if his life depended on it. And, in a sense, it did. The reports contained profiles of five of the seven confirmed masters, including details about their personalities, abilities, and catalysts used to summon their respective Servants.

"Emiya Kiritsugu, hired by the Einzbern family. A ruthless assassin known as the Mage Killer.... He didn't fail a single mission since his debut," Waver muttered with a knot in his stomach.

"Absolute caution: don't attract his attention unless it's unavoidable."

He moved on to the next profile:

"Tōsaka Tokiomi, catalyst: fossil of the first snake to shed its skin. Refined and calculating, but arrogant."

The following report detailed another teacher.

"Matou Kariya, catalyst: fragment of the round table. Motivated by the desire to protect his niece, but weakened by the Matou's experiments."

When he came to the profile of his own master, Kayneth Archibald, Waver swallowed saliva.

"Catalyst: shard from the spear of Hector of Troy. Expert in alchemical magic and known for his inordinate pride."

Finally, the report also included a note on Kirei Kotomine.

"No conclusive information on his catalyst. His alliance with Tōsaka Tokiomi makes him an unpredictable participant."

Waver leaned back in the chair, overwhelmed by the amount of information. For the first time, he understood how dangerous this competition was.

"According to this, I have to be careful with Kotomine and Emiya.... Phew, this is more complicated than I thought."

He put the documents away in the briefcase and decided to rest a bit before continuing. But first, he secured the briefcase with the vials in a safe place.

"All of this will be essential for survival."

With dawn breaking, Waver finally allowed himself a few hours of sleep. However, his sleep was restless, filled with visions of the masters and their powerful servants.

.............

Waver awoke with a start, noticing that the sun had already reached its highest point. He had slept longer than planned.

"Damn it, it's late already!" he complained as he hurriedly got out of bed. He had to summon his servant before he missed his chance to claim one of the most coveted classes.

He ran to the briefcase, pulling out one of the syringes with the reddish liquid. He remembered Edmund's note in the papers he had read.

"If you wish to maximize your servant's abilities, inject an ampoule before the ritual. This will increase your magic circuits temporarily, allowing you to summon a heroic spirit with enhanced parameters."

With some hesitation, Waver held the syringe in his hand.

"If Edmund says so, it must be true! I can't afford to fail."

He took a deep breath before injecting the liquid into his arm. Intense heat coursed through his body, followed by a surge of energy he had never felt before.

"This...this is amazing, I feel like I can do anything!"

With renewed determination, he picked up the relic of Perseus and stepped out into the clearing next to the hut.

He drew a summoning circle in the dirt using a stick, making sure the strokes were accurate.

Once ready, he placed the relic in the center of the circle and began the invocation chant in a steady voice.

"Fill, fill, fill, fill, fill, fill. Repeat five times, but when each one is full, destroy it."

"Silver and iron as foundation. Foundation stone and grand master of contracts. Oh the ancestor of mine, who is distant. A rampart against the falling wind. The tower of the three great sacred spirits."

"O seven heavens covered by three words of power. Turn yourself to the grace of your prayers. If thou wilt follow this path and obey this will and reason, then answer."

"I swear here that I am the one who achieves all the good in the world, who disperses all the evils of the world. You, clothed with the three great words of power, come to the invocation circle and protect me from this place!"

The circle began to glow brightly, forcing Waver to squint at the intensity of the light. A figure began to materialize in the center of the circle: a tall, dark red-haired man with an imposing presence.

When the light dissipated, the man opened his eyes and smiled confidently.

"Hello, I'm Perseus, of the Rider class. I hope we have a good time in this war. Tell me, are you my master?"

Waver, still astonished by the presence of his servant, nodded with determination.

"Yes, I am Waver Velvet, your master. Let us work together, Rider."

The connection was formalized, and the two exchanged a look that sealed their alliance in this dangerous contest.

the summoning was successful.

..............

I don't know, I need more creativity. It seems very bland to me, or is it just me because I'm writing it?

Well this chapter has 100 more words than the previous one... yes hahaha I think I'll increase it a little more because I feel that it's still short
