Chapter 29: Chapter 29: You have two, I have one
[3rd POV]
[Your kingdom began to prosper under the cultivation of the Bull of Heaven and clearly, this is not the result Gilgamesh wanted to see. War broke out once again.]
[You left Ishtar to guard the city and warned her that if the city was harmed, you would publicize the record across the entire Mesopotamian region. Ishtar immediately pledged her loyalty.]
[In order to avoid involving innocent casualties in the battle with Gilgamesh, you intentionally lured him to a more distant location. Gilgamesh saw through your plan but didn't stop you.]
"It's truly disappointing. In the end, you still chose to side with the gods?"
The enormous Gugalanna's presence couldn't be hidden from Gilgamesh.
It was merely a sign of weakness to use the gods' power.
"As long as the gods are obedient and given appropriate rewards, what's the problem?"
"Obedient?"
Gilgamesh paused, even with his arrogance, he only planned to defy the gods and lead Uruk using his own strength.
However, this person in front of him wanted the gods to obey?
This was truly...
"Hahaha~~ This is too funny... what an interesting way to put it."
[You hear Gilgamesh's laughter, feeling both his admiration and his killing intent because you understand that this world cannot have two kings.]
[The battle between you and Gilgamesh was intense, and soon both of you were covered in blood, looking completely disheveled.]
[Your battle lasts from day to night, with the army that was originally attacking the city stopping to rest. However, your battle with Gilgamesh continued, showing no signs of ending.]
[Just as your battle seemed to be nearing its end, the gods descended.]
"Gilgamesh, Shadow, you have committed such a great crime, why don't you just surrender?"
Anu arrived with his underlings, but after such a long battle, the two of you had only one response to these lesser beings.
"Get lost."
A full moon descended from the sky, and countless golden streams of light shot upward, all aimed at the same person.
"Presumptuous."
Anu faced two mortals who had already exhausted all their strength, and there was no reason for him to evade or dodge.
"Gilgamesh, you've rejected your mission and tyrannized for your own selfish desires. Shadow, you disrespect the gods and refuse to take Gilgamesh's place as the new 'Wedge of Heaven'. You've betrayed the trust the gods placed in you."
Anu blocked the combined attack from the two of them earlier, and the power was far weaker than he expected.
This was a huge success beyond his imagination.
He thought it wouldn't be long before he could eliminate these two and then use their bodies to create a more perfect 'Wedge of Heaven.'
"Die."
A torrent of magical energy surged toward the two, and a huge explosion followed through the air.
It was indeed a direct hit, but Anu knew that one strike would not be enough to kill them.
What came next...
What followed was his own head exploding.
"I'm going for a sneak attack."
You...
While everyone focused on the explosion, Kyouya had already snuck up behind him and struck him with a stick.
However, as expected of a King of the Gods, Anu was not knocked unconscious by the blow.
He thought he should've taken Gilgamesh's weapon instead.
"Why are you doing this?"
"You old man, did you really think I would let my anger cloud my judgment and couldn't distinguish between priorities? Even without Clairvoyance, my wisdom is beyond what you can match."
Gilgamesh's 'Gate of Babylon' contained the crystallized dreams of humanity, including a special potion that could immediately restore a person's strength to a peak.
"Did you two really pretend all this time just to wait for this moment?"
Anu couldn't believe it.
As the creator of the two 'Wedge of Heaven,' he understood the principle of repulsion between similar forces.
Gilgamesh and Kyouya should naturally hate each other.
"No, if you hadn't shown up, we would have kept fighting, fighting until one of us died. But you, old dog, just couldn't resist jumping in."
Anu's prediction wasn't wrong.
He and Gilgamesh certainly didn't like each other, but what he didn't anticipate was that everyone even more despised the gods themselves.
"This king would love to kill this substitute now, but this substitute did say something interesting—' gods obedient.'"
The gods were surrounded by golden light, and Gilgamesh's "Gate of Babylon" opened fully to restrict their movements.
At that moment, the moonlight fell upon Kyouya, fully restored, and immediately entered the state of the Moonlight Holy King.
"Moonfall."
He immediately summoned a full moon and sent it crashing down from the sky.
Unlike the previous display of force, the full power of the Moonfall now pressed heavily on the gods, making them feel a surge of pressure.
"Bastard, is this all you've got? A mere moon isn't enough to send this old man to the heavens."
Gilgamesh mocked him.
Even though they briefly teamed up, their relationship wasn't exactly friendly.
"Gilgamesh, you should know that most men have two."
Kyouya didn't back down from Gilgamesh's mockery.
He then reached out with his other hand, pulling up another full moon from the river. He sent it rising from below to squeeze the gods between the two moons.
The gods, already hindered by the effects of the Gate of Babylon', couldn't dodge and were forced to take the full force of the two moons pressing in on them, leaving them unable to move.
"How's that?"
"Not bad, but you have two, and I have one."
With the two moons crushing the gods, Gilgamesh saw an opening and used his sword, Ea.
[You watch as Gilgamesh draws the strange sword once again, and even gods are no match for its power.]
[You and Gilgamesh march toward the defeated gods, and even the gods lower their noble heads in submission to your presence.]
[You and Gilgamesh have subdued the gods, but you understand this isn't a permanent solution. Their surrender is nothing more than a show, and you must find a way to break the deadlock.]
[You bring the spoils of battle back to Ur. You see Ishtar's panic and hear the people cheering. The effect of the "Benevolent Hidden Emperor" increases.]
