Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Retreat
[3rd POV]
[You once again saw Ishtar with that disgusting arrogance back on her face, but you didn't care about that. You were just disappointed because you couldn't find Gugalanna.]
Bull, where is my big bull?
He didn't care about Ishtar's return, and all he wanted was just Gugalanna.
"Where is Gugalanna?"
As soon as Kyouya thought of the countless wastelands waiting for the Gugalanna to cultivate, he immediately lost all interest in her and didn't care why she had returned.
"Shadow, I've already obtained the spell to control you from my father. You might as well kneel and lick my feet now, and I might give you a little dignity."
Ishtar realized that he still didn't take her seriously.
However, it didn't matter.
He was already fish on the chopping block in her eyes, and there was no hurry to deal with him.
"Then get lost. Without Gugalanna, you're completely useless to me."
"Bastard, in your eyes, am I only worth something because of Gugalanna?"
Ishtar couldn't accept it. As a goddess, her charm wasn't even comparable to Gugalanna.
Gems floated around Ishtar's body as she prepared to give this rude mortal a punishment he would never forget.
[You watch as the floating gems and a force seem to be trying to infiltrate your body, trying to control you]
[Your divine power inside you begins to resist, and Ishtar's plan to control you fails.]
[You pretend as if you're in great pain, and Ishtar feels that her spell has taken effect, satisfied with herself.]
[Taking advantage of Ishtar's carelessness, you raise your staff to Ishtar's back, and the back of her head exploded.]
"I'm going to make a sneak attack."
He looked at her lying on the ground.
Although hitting a woman wasn't something a real man should do, there are exceptions.
For a woman like Ishtar, there are only two possible futures: a strong blow to the head or to break her will.
"Throw her into my room."
"Yes, sir."
The soldier beside them was completely confused.
How did these two end up in bed after fighting?
However, they didn't dare to ask.
...
[You look at the goddess lying on the bed, a strange feeling of familiarity washing over you as if you've done this before.]
This system... is it accusing me of something terrible?
He never expected the system to so blatantly slander him. He instantly felt the world's harshness, wondering how a man as good could face such an accusation.
But now is not the time to worry about such trivial matters.
"Thud~"
"Hand over Gugalanna."
He placed an hourglass by the bedside, clearly giving Ishtar some time to think.
"You're pretending to sleep? Even sleeping counts as time."
"You're really a dog."
She reluctantly got up.
He arrived at the perfect time—if he had come just a little later, she would have been able to escape.
'Damn it, why is this guy so strong in close combat?'
After losing a lot in close combat, Ishtar decided she'd work hard to become a close combat mage, at least not being knocked down with one blow one hit... at least two hits.
"Don't think you can make Gugalanna work for you. That's a weapon of war created by the gods, not something for mortals to use."
"Not giving it? Ishtar, do you remember how you left the Underworld with your butt naked ?"
"What are you trying to do?"
Ishtar suddenly had a bad feeling.
Back then, she had confidently entered the Underworld in her divine armor to cause trouble for Ereshkigal, but this man tricked her into leaving her complete set of divine artifacts along the way.
In the end, Ereshkigal in full state stripped her of everything.
This was her greatest humiliation, how could she possibly forget?
"Back then, Ereshkigal kept a record of your defeat as a souvenir. If you don't hand over Gugalanna, I'll let the entire Mesopotamian region see that recording."
[Your shameless tactics have clearly broken Ishtar's bottom line. Although she pretends to stay calm, you know that Gugalanna is already in your hands.]
As the system sounded, Ishtar panicked.
If someone saw this, she would have no choice but to either destroy the world or commit suicide on the spot.
"Impossible, if you had it last time..."
"What does it matter whether I have it or not? You can't afford to take the risk, can you?"
"Wuwuwu~~ Fine, you win."
Ishhtar, who had always been arrogant and domineering, had finally met her match.
"Gugalanna, save me!"
Ishhtar's cry for help echoed in Gugalanna's mind.
Thinking its master was in danger, Gugalanna immediately charged toward Ur and... saw Ishtar holding a white flag and a smirking Kyouya.
"Bull, it's time to get back to work."
After hearing the words "back to work," even the Gugalanna felt weak in the legs.
The terrifying existence of a "capitalist" is a bit too much for this Age of Gods.
Gugalanna's eyes filled with resentment.
'We were just about to fight to the death, Your Majesty, why have you surrendered first?'
'Don't worry, Father must have noticed that I haven't returned. He'll come to rescue us, and then we can slowly deal with them.'
There's a special conversation between Ishtar and Gugalanna.
Now, they can only wait for Anu to come to their rescue.
Kyouya didn't care about their secret conversation, just like how a capitalist wouldn't care about the words of an employee.
In this Age of Gods with no streetlights, Kyouya was invincible.
...
"Ishtar... How dare you treat my daughter like this?"
Anu looked down from the sky when he saw his daughter Ishtar being forced to use the Bull of Heaven to serve those mortals.
He then saw Kyouya walking toward them with a wooden stick hanging from his waist.
"I've never laid a hand on my daughter."
Anu didn't understand how he managed to raise his divinity to such a level in such a short time.
Shadow's divinity even surpassed Gilgamesh at this moment. Facing someone like this, the previous control methods were completely useless.
"Gilgamesh was like this, and now this backup is the same... Fine, once you two dogs tear each other apart, I'll clean up both of you."
Anu looked at the army of Gilgamesh still lingering nearby and understood that the two brothers would have to fight again.
Gilgamesh's clairvoyance was "sealed" by Anu's cruelty, and he could no longer see the movements of the gods.
"Sigh~ Let's make Ishtar suffer for now."
Afterward, Anu left those words behind and ignored Ishtar.
Once he had gathered his forces, he would destroy the two 'Wedge of Heaven' and create a more obedient king.
To be continued...
