Chapter 10: Chapter 10- Not as Planned; Cashing in a debt?!
Hi again everybody! So as you can tell by the title, this is a transitional chapter. You should be able to guess who's featured in this chapter by the title lol 😆. This will help establish some foundation in a certain ship within this story. I won't spoil it, so without further ado.. here's chapter 10 of this story!
I don't own DBS, Rwby, or Black Clover and their characters. The only things I own are the OC's. Aforementioned series are own by Akira Toriyama/Toei Animation, Yuki Tabata/ Studio Pierot, and Rooster Teeth/Monty Oum respectively.

Chapter 10- Not as Planned; Cashing in a debt?!
Out in a forest nearby to Vale, there's the sound of clashing metal and feet moving. One may wonder what these sounds belong to, well... except if you happen to be friends of certain flame eyed individuals. You would know then that, Elves are having sparring sessions.
The Elves in question of course are Khanna Andross, Baron Caldern, Hailfire Caldern, Roy Albanar, Odyn Albanar, and Sybyrh Arkham.
Odyn and Roy are seen clashing blades as they observe each other's movements. That was one advantage of being teammates with your family members, you already know them so well and what their tendencies are. This was case with Odyn and Roy certainly.
The two dark elven brothers were working up quite a sweat sparring with each other, observing to see if there were openings in their opponents stances. Roy thought he may have seen an opening and jumped on the opportunity. Unfortunately for him the opening shut closed just as quick, due to Odyn reacting to his brother's switch in tactics.
"Darn it, I knew he'd react quick to that but jeez... I wasn't expecting his reaction to be that fast!," Roy thought.
As the two continued clashing blades, they sped up the rate of their attacks. Unfortunately, Roy soon found their spar was over just as quickly. Odyn had his practice blade raised to Roy's neck.
"And... that's checkmate.," Odyn said.
Roy chuckled and raised his hands in surrender.
"I yield, you've defeated me yet again Odyn.," Roy said dropping his wooden blade and raising his hands.
Odyn stuck the blade in the ground, point first as he went over and shook hands with his brother.
"With that one, I believe that's five times in a row resulting in your victory.," Roy said as the two shook hands.
Odyn smiled at his brother.
"Hey, don't feel too bad Roy. You nearly had me there SEVERAL times back there. I very easily could have lost any one of those 5 times.," Odyn said.
"I suppose so. It doesn't feel great when I'm on the receiving end of your wins though.," Roy said shrugging.
"😅 Not much I can do about that one, Roy. But just take these sparring sessions we have as an opportunity to get stronger and improve yourself as a warrior. Besides, we may find something here that we wouldn't have had we not come to Beacon.," Odyn said sweatdropping briefly before recomposing himself and explaining his reasoning.
"😌 Yeah, I suppose you're right about that, Odyn.," Roy said smirking and slightly chuckling in response.
He continued.
"Incidently brother, what are your plans for today?," Roy asked curious.
"Oh, that?," He asked before seeing Roy nod.
This was the signal for him to continue.
"Well... I did promise Ruby I would make it up to her for what happened the other day in the library. So, think I'll be spending time with her today.," Odyn said in thought.
Roy had a look of recognition on his face as he nodded.
"Ah. She still feels bad about it, huh?," Roy asked.
Odyn nodded.
"Yeah. May as well cheer her up however I can, right?," Odyn replied.
Roy nodded.
"Right... well try not to have too much fun, alright?," Roy smirked.
"Uh... sure. Though I'm sure it's not like you're insinuating, I'll cheer her up as best as I can. What about you?,"Odyn replied back.
Roy put his hand to his chin in thought. To be honest, he wasn't sure what he'd do for the day on his own. It would be a first for him since they started attending Beacon. As far as he knew, Hailfire was going to be doing some catching up with Baron, with Flare tagging along, Khanna would probably be going to visit her brothers who were in Vale for the upcoming Vytal Festival, Note and Beat would most likely be doing something together for the day, Blake would be still looking into the White Fang incident, Weiss would be preparing for the Vytal Tournament with Daikon, and then Odyn was spending the day with Ruby.
He wouldn't ask Jaune's team, because they were most likely busy anyways. He was kinda stumped on what he'd do.
"Honestly... I'm not sure. I'll figure out something though.," Roy said.
Odyn began to walk off, but put a hand on his brother's shoulder before looking back at him.
"Well, if you're ever up for it... you could come and hang out with us near the end of the day if you're really not sure what to do. I'm sure Ruby wouldn't mind.," Odyn said.
"Uh sure... I'll let you know if that ever happens.," Roy thought.
"But two is a couple and three's a crowd.... I don't think he'd appreciate there being a third wheel on their date, even if he never calls it that.," Roy thought to himself.
Odyn seemed to acknowledge Roy's quick response and waved as he walked off.
" Well, I'll see you later Roy.," Odyn said.
The elder Albanar sibling walked away as He and the other Dark Elves all went their separate ways.
Timeskip: an hour later...
Roy had just gotten out of the shower in his team's dorm room as he walked over towards his bed, drying his hair. He had his brown pants on, along with his gold belt and silver boots. It was the rest of his outfit that he needed to put on now.
The Red haired dark elf saw his brother exiting the dorm room as he came to put on his clothes.
"Leaving now, brother?," Roy asked.
Odyn turned and smiled at his brother as he nodded.
"Yeah. Have to go meet Ruby now.," Odyn replied.
"... Well alright, have fun I guess. I'll keep in touch if I ever decide that I'm bored enough to interrupt you two.," Roy said.
Odyn sighed.
"And.. I'm pretty sure I told you that it isn't like that between Ruby and myself.," Odyn said slightly annoyed.
Roy just gave Odyn a very dry look as he said that.
"What?," Odyn asked seeing the look his brother gave him.
"You know you're not exactly fooling anyone with that excuse, bro. We all know how you feel about Ruby.," Roy said.
Odyn sighed in defeat, he knew Roy was right.
"I'm... not sure if what I feel is what you're suggesting for Ruby... I do know I care for her, but...," Odyn trailed off.
"But?," Roy asked encouraging him to continue.
"But to what extent I care for her... I'm... not really sure yet. I do care for her as my friend, beyond that... I don't really know just yet.,"Odyn explained sighing.
Roy smiled. He thought Odyn liked Ruby more than he let on but, this at least, was a start. He patted his older brother on the shoulder as Odyn turned to leave the room.
"That wasn't so hard was it, bro?," He asked.
Roy continued.
"As long as you're honest with yourself concerning Ruby, that's all any of us can ask of you. If you feel like you need to take your time to evaluate how you really feel about her... that's perfectly fine. Take your time with it if need be. Just don't lie to yourself when it comes to how you really feel about Ruby, Okay?," Roy said encouraging Odyn.
Odyn sighed and then smiled at his brother, Roy was right as usual.
"Yeah, you're right as usual Roy. I'll take some time to consider what you've told me here today. Now, I gotta go. Don't want to keep her waiting.," Odyn said as he left.
Roy just waved with a two fingered salute as he watched his eldest brother walk out of the room and close the door.
"Right then.,"He said.
Roy went to put on the top part of his outfit after drying off his body.
He fit the sky blue shirt on, with the amber colored shoulder pads. He then grabbed a teal colored bandana and tied it to his fastened it around his forehead just below his Elven crown. Finally he fastened the White cape across his shoulders and grabbed his dust weapon. After fastening his dust weapon (which was in sword form at the moment) and its sheath to his side, he tightened the arm bracers he had on to complete the look.
Checking himself once more, he then nodded before stepping out of his dorm room and closing the door behind him.
Timeskip: Vale: 5 minutes later
Roy was seen walking down the streets of Vale as he was on his way to the dust shop to restock on dust for his weapon. It was running a little low, due to the fiasco at the docks two weeks ago and him not bothering to replenish it since then. He arrived at the dust shop and walked into the store.
"Welcome! What can I get you for you, young man?," The clerk greeted.
"Yes, I'm here to pick up some fire dust for my weapon. Turns out I'm a little low on it.," Roy said.
"Ah, I see. Wait here just a moment while I go check in the back and see what we have in stock.," The elder man at the counter said.
Roy nodded as he waited. He glanced around the dust shop, observing all of the different types of Dust that line the shelves or were in tubed dispensers. His attention then turned to the different sketches and posters of Dust Weapons that lines the walls or were in different parts of the store.
The clerk came back a minute later, forcing Roy to turn his attention back to the counter in front. The elder man placed the collection of dust viles onto the counter top just as Roy took out the required lien to pay him.
"Here you are, a refill of fire dust for you.," The elder man said.
Roy handed him the lien to pay for the viles he needed. The clerk smiled at this, he appreciated how polite this young man was. He never cared about race his customers were, he just appreciated the business.
"Oh. Here you go, sir.," Roy said handing him the lien.
"Thank you. It is a pleasure doing business with you. Stop by again if you need anything else.," The clerk said.
Roy nodded as he exited the store, waving to the kind store clerk. Once outside the shop, he loaded one of the viles into his sword and then sheathed it. Unsure of what to do next, Roy continued walking down the streets simply observing the decorations for the upcoming festival with a smile on his face. He made conversation with some visiting faunus before stopping as he noticed someone he was not expecting come up to him. He waved to the kind faunus before facing the person who came up to him.
"Hey handsome ~ What are you doing here by yourself?," Yang asked.
"Oh, Yang. Hi. I'm actually by myself today. Figured I should look around Vale since I haven't had the opportunity to do so yet.," He answered.
Yang smirked at him.
"😏 Hmmmmm? I just heard something interesting then~," Yang said smirking at him.
She gained a sly smile as she wrapped her arm around Roy's and leaned against him. This action caused Roy to become very self conscious as he was trying to fight the blush creeping onto his face as a result of the blonde's actions.
"Speaking of... you owe me for the other day.," Yang said recalling to memory the favor Roy owed her.
"Ah.. yeah. So.. are you cashing in the debt of favors I owe you today?,"Roy replied.
Yang smirked.
"😏 Something like that. Why don't you find out handsome~," Yang replied whispering into his ear.
Roy inwardly sighed, he knew this was coming.
"Alright, Yang. What did you have in mind for me to start repaying this debt of favors I owe you?,"Roy asked.
"Well... for starters.. you can hang out with me today.," Yang said.
"Alright, Yang. I did say I'd make it up to you after all. Whatever you want.,"Roy said.
"Hmmm? 😏 Whatever I want, huh?," Yang asked eyeing him up and down.
Roy blushed, knowing what that look meant.
"E-Except "that"! We're not even of marrying age yet and we should get to know each other more first before that's even a thought!," Roy said with a face flushed red.
Yang laughed before speaking.
"*snorts and then giggles * Relax Roy, I was only teasing you. You're just too easy to mess with sometimes.," Yang said chuckling.
Roy made a face at this.
Yang continued.
"Not that there's anything wrong with that. You're honest and up-front about everything, which I like.," Yang said.
Yang then started leading him towards the first place she wanted to go.
Elsewhere....
Ruby came running up to the spot where she and Odyn agreed upon to meet. She thought maybe she was late as she saw Odyn waiting there by himself.
"Odyn!," She said waving.
Odyn turned and then smiled at her.
"Ruby, hey. Umm... why were you running?," Odyn replied.
"I thought I was late, that's why!," Ruby said.
She continued.
"Have you been waiting long?," She asked.
He shook his head.
"Nah, I actually just got here myself. So you're right on time Ruby. Besides, a lady is allowed to be late sometimes... especially if she's the one who picked the place to meet.," Odyn replied.
Ruby smiled and rubbed the back of her head in response.
"Oh, heh heh I guess you're right about that one Odyn.," Ruby said chuckling slightly.
Still, it was sweet of him to wait for her. Odyn was very sweet once you spent time getting to know him. Even if it was to make it up to her for what happened in the library the other day between them, Ruby still appreciated Odyn treating her to a day in town like this.
She felt herself blush and her heart began to pound in her chest as her mind went into overdrive.
"Gosh, the way this is going... it's almost like we're on a d-date!," Ruby thought inwardly.
She shook her head frantically at the thought.
"No no no no no no no no! That's n-not what this is! Odyn's just treating me to make up for what happened the other day, that's all! This isn't a d-d-date!," Ruby said inwardly shaking her head but unable to fight the blush on her face at the implications of what such a thought meant.
"You okay over there, Ruby?," Odyn asked.
She looked at him.
"Huh? Y-yeah! I'm fine Odyn.," Ruby replied.
A/N: going forward I'm going to be putting the characters inner dialog in italics.
Ruby: Oh gosh! I really need to stop having thoughts like this! I'm even making Odyn worry! Get it together, Ruby! B-Besides.. I... don't even know if what I'm feeling is what I think it is just yet! Maybe... once I spend more time with Odyn, I'll know for sure.
"So... where to?," Odyn asked.
"Let's try the bakery near the festival grounds first.," Ruby suggested.
"Sounds like a plan.," odyn said.
Ruby then stopped Odyn when she saw something unusual. It was... Yang and.. was that Roy she was with?!
"Umm... Is that.. Roy with Yang?," Ruby asked pointing towards the two.
Odyn followed Ruby's line of sight and spotted the two teens.
"Huh.. yeah, it is.," Odyn said somewhat surprised.
"Is there something wrong with that?," Runy asked.
"No, there's nothing wrong with it. It's just a little... surprising is all. Roy told me he had nothing planned today, so it's just surprising seeing him with Yang.," Odyn replied.
"Do you think... Yang likes Roy? As in... like likes him?," Ruby asked.
"You mean as in... romantically likes him?," Odyn asked just to clarify.
Ruby nodded.
"Well... I wouldn't really be shocked if that is the case. Your sister is always flirting with him, so I honestly wouldn't be shocked if she is interested in Roy romantically.," Odyn said.
"If.. you say so Odyn. And I thought I was the only one who was starting to think that.," Ruby said before the two started to make their way to their destination.
Back with Roy & Yang...
Yang led Roy towards a certain bar on the not often visited part of Vale. Roy raised an eyebrow as Yang went into the bar and winked at the owner. The clerk brought them to the second level where a few tables and chairs were at.
A waiter came and took their orders before heading to the kitchen to grab their food. The elf looked at Yang a little unsure about where they were at.
"You're positive this is where you want to go, Yang?," Roy asked unsure.
She smiled at him.
"Yeah, I'm sure. They have good food here. Besides, I thought a change of pace might be in order.," Yang said.
Roy chuckled.
"I think I've learned by now never to try and guess what you'll do or what you're thinking. Most of the time, I've no clue what goes through that head of yours.," Roy said.
Just as the two were beginning to chat some more, a very... unwelcomed guest came up to their table. It was Cardin and his croney's.
"Huh, what are you doing here freak?," Cardin asked smugly.
Roy sighed in exasperation, he really didn't need this right now.
"Cardin.. can you just... walk away please? I don't have time to be dealing with you right now.," He said sighing.
"Who says I have to listen to a freak of nature like you? Didn't expect to see you here though, Yang.," The bully said.
Yang glared at him. She was annoyed too.
"Rather than hanging out with this waste of space, why don't you hang out with me?," Cardin asked ignoring Roy.
"You kidding? No. I'd rather jump off a cliff than spend time with you, Cardin!," Yang said.
Cardin tried grabbing her, only to have his hand smacked away.
"Buzz off, I'm not interested.," Yang said.
"Sure, if you agree to go out with me I'll leave you alone.," Cardin smugly said thinking he was intimidating Her and Roy.
"What don't you understand about what I said? I said I'm not interested!," Yang said.
"I wasn't asking.," Cardin said as he attempted to forcibly grab Yang's arm.
He had to jump back, due to a sword being drawn and pointed at him. Roy had unshewthed his blade, pointed it at the bully, and even glared as he threatened him.
"I believe the lady said she wasn't interested, Cardin. So unless you want to be in more pain than even Khanna can deal to you, I suggest you leave now.... Before I get fed up with you! Otherwise... I can't promise that you won't have at least a few broken bones, understand?," Roy said glaring at the bully.
Cardin seemed to recognize the look on Roy's face, it was the same one Khanna gave him. He knew that in pure physical abilities, he'd probably lose pretty badly to this guy. And he didn't want to deal with his temper, so he'd back off to avoid that.
"Tch, fine! This is boring anyways!," Cardin said storming off.
Roy that sheathed his blade as he looked back at Yang with an apologetic smile.
"Sorry you had to see that side of me,Yang. I wasn't going to let him push you like that though.,"Roy apologized.
Yang felt herself blushing before clearing her throat and speaking.
"N-No don't worry about it! I was glad you said something, Roy. He was really annoying me. I might have broke his nose or his arm if that continued.,"Yang said slightly stuttering.
Roy chuckled at this before smiling.
"Well, why don't we just enjoy this dinner then? After all, I owe it to you don't I?,"Roy replied.
Yang nodded as the two enjoyed their dinner.
"By the way Roy, I was wondering about something.," Yang said.
"Sure. What is it?," Roy asked.
"Why is your hair red when your brother's is blue and your cousin's is black?,"Yang asked curious.
"Oh that? Well I'm not the only one in my family with red hair, my sister had red hair too. Dad says it is most likely from my mother's side of the family. Most of them were known for their red hair, my mother was of course the outlier with Lavender purple colored hair. Probably because my mother's blood is unique even among Elves.," Roy answered.
"Your mom's blood is special?,"Yang asked.
Roy nodded.
"Yeah. See Woodland Elves, which is what my mother happens to be, have the ability to see into the future. In other words, the gift of foresight. That trait can sometimes change the color of one's hair depending on their blood.," Roy explained.
Yang listened intently and nodded her head. The dark elves really were interesting, she didn't know why anyone never bothered to get to know them. They were very kind people too, at least from the ones she met anyways. Why would anyone want to hate them?
"Could anyone learn magic if they were trained properly?," Yang asked.
"Kinda off topic there... but yeah, I suppose so. It would largely depend upon who their trainer was as to what kind of magic they could eventually use.," Roy said.
Yang smirked.
"😏 So... you wouldn't mind training me to use Magic then? How 'bout it, good lookin'~," Yang asked slyly smiling.
Roy felt self conscious again, he never knew what to expect with this girl. Yang was so... odd and.. quite forward when she seemed to flirt with him. Roy had never met such a flirtatious girl before, so Yang was always seeming to catch him off guard. Still, he did have to admit something to himself. For all her.. quirks and flirtatious nature at least when it came to himself... Yang was physically a very beautiful girl. That was what made his interactions with her so... awkward sometimes, he never knew what went through Yang's head at times, so he really couldn't plan on how to respond to her.
"Uh... s-sure I'll see what I can do.," Roy said blushing slightly.
The two teens then finished their meal and exited the bar as they made their way back to Vale.
Timeskip: Vale: 30 minutes later...
Roy and Yang were seen walking together in downtown Vale as the day began to wind down. They still had a little time left before Yang was supposed to meet up with Weiss to prepare for the Festival.
"Is there anything else you wanted to do?," Roy asked.
Yang put a hand to her chin in thought before answering.
"Eh.. I kind of just wanted to walk with you some more.," Yang said shrugging.
"That's... surprisingly a normal request from her. Guess she's had her fill of teasing me for the day since she had me all to herself today.," Roy inwardly thought.
The teens walked around Vale as Yang showed Roy around the city. After a little while, Yang knew the time was getting close to when she needed to meet Weiss. The blonde led Roy back to where they met up at the beginning of the day, finally letting go of the Dark elf's arm.
"I take it, I've repaid my debt to you?," Roy asked.
🤔 mm... not quite. Another one of these outings should suffice to cover your debt though.," Yang said grinning.
"I see. Well, I should let you go then. It was fun today, Yang.," Roy said.
"Yeah! Maybe we should do this again sometime, eh handsome~?," Yang asked smirking.
Roy inwardly paled at this.
"Uh.. surely you jest Yang.. wait- no, you're not joking are you?," Roy replied a little nervously.
Yang smiled slyly at Roy with her finger on her lips.
"Who knows? Maybe I am joking, or maybe... I'm serious about you hot stuff~," She said.
Roy turned to walk off before Yang called after him, gaining his attention.
"Hang on Roy, I forgot to tell you something.," Yang said.
"Okay, what is it?," Roy asked.
Instead of saying anything, Yang went up to the Elf and hugged him.
"Thanks for standing up for me against Cardin. I really appreciate that, good lookin'~," Yang said embracing him.
Roy wasn't sure what to do, so he hugged her back and smiled.
"You're welcome Yang, I'd even do it again given the chance.," Roy said.
Yang smirked and then kissed Roy on the cheek before separating from their embrace leaving the dark elf shocked.
"That's as a thank you for today. See you later, stud muffin'~," Yang said walking off.
Roy awkwardly waved at the blonde's retreating form before touching his cheek.
"That was... unexpected from her. And... did she just call me "stud muffin'?," Roy thought confused.
Just then Odyn and Ruby came up to him wondering why the redhead was just standing there.
"Roy, are you okay?," Ruby asked.
Roy turned to the voice, seeing that Ruby and Odyn had returned from their outing.
"Huh? Uh... yeah I suppose so.," He said unsure.
"You sound confused, bro.," Odyn said.
"Where's Yang? I thought she was with you?," Ruby asked.
"She was. You just missed her.," Roy said.
The way he spent the day wasn't as he planned, but it was productive... in a sense.
"Something happened between you and Yang, didn't it Roy?," Odyn asked.
"I don't know... I'm so confused right now!," Roy said frustrated.
Odyn and Ruby just looked at each other puzzled as to what happened between Roy and Yang. The camera fades into the sky as the scene turns to black.

Hey guys, (Rosesaiyan2/ Novablade67/ Novaflame6_Badal) I hope you enjoyed this filler chapter! As you guessed, Yang has been crushing on Roy since chapter 1 and now it's finally gaining some traction. I figured this would add some foundation to the Roy x Yang pairing, so it couldn't hurt. As I've stated previously, I plan on dedicating one chapter at points in the story to each pairing to give them more substance. That way, we avoid the issue of "Why are these two characters suddenly in love when they have no reason to be?" I'll make each pairing make sense as best as I possibly can.
Next chapter, we'll be jumping back into the Rwby cannon, don't worry the story will diverge from the cannon story at some point. I'm thinking after the mistral academy arc possibly is when it will diverge down a different path slightly.
Anyways I'll leave you guys with one last poll before we go:
Who will go on a "true" date first?
Roy and Yang
Odyn and Ruby
Baron and Flare
Daikon and Weiss
Jaune and Pyrrha
Sybryh and Tarro
Blake x Spoiler
Let me know who you think it will be and I'll announce the winner in a few chapters! Anywho that's all for now! See ya in the next update!
Next time: Chapter 11- A Minor Hiccup; Visitors from Abroad?
