Flame and Crimson: OC x Ruby (DBXV x RWBY)

Hey guys, I'm back with a new chapter! Hopefully you all enjoyed the separate chapter for Yang and Roy, besides... I kinda had to tie up a loose end with them lol. The chapter will start a bit different before it refocuses back to the events of episodes 4 and 5 of Volume 2. This one cover parts of 3 episodes, now that I think of it lol. Which would leave next chapter to cover the Beacon dance.

I'm thinking Blake will be with an oc this time around, but.. it won't come to fruition until certain events play out later in the story.... i.e- Volume 3 and beyond.

Now, I have this planned out but just wanted to see which scenario you guys think would be better following the climax of Volume 3.

After the fall of Beacon:

1. The Elves declare war against the humans and the White Fang

II. Jaune leaves with *spoiler* to become stronger and better equipped to protect what he cares about

III. The Elves come out from hiding and publicly confront both Atlas (Atlus) and the Shcnee family regarding their inhuman treatment over the years

IV. The Devils come forth, intent to capture Odyn and Ruby in an attempt to revive Mordred.

V. Other write in scenario

VI. Stick with the cannon rwby events up until the author kills off Cinder.

Let me know by PM which option is best and why. Now, onto the story!

Chapter 11- A Minor Hiccup; Ruby's Strange Rescuer?

The screen comes up as Jaune is seen trying to talk to Weiss as the class goes on. She's seen waiting out the class bored while staring at the small clock on her desk. Meanwhile, professor Peter Port is blabbing on about one of his "famous" stories again as the teens surrounding Weiss look on in varying degrees of interest. Odyn's team was listening and taking notes when they could, Khanna's team was listening... kind of, team Rwby was in varying degrees of boredom or interest, and JNPR was half listening and half not.

Jaune is seen sliding up next to Weiss trying to make conversation with her. Daikon raises an eyebrow and silently snickers at the blonde's attempt to flirt with Weiss.

"So uh.. Weiss, I-I was thinking after this we could grab a bite to eat?," Jaune asked.

He received no answer before continuing.

"And, uh um, I-I've got two tickets to that new Spruce Willis movie, if you wanna make the trip to Vale. I hear it's awesome.," Jaune says before pausing and continuing his thoughts.

" Aaaanndd.. maybe after that we could study together? You're smart, while I'm- uhh... Y'know.," He said still receiving no reply.

The clock in front of Weiss switches from 3:59 to 4:00 as it gives off a bit of a shrill beeping noise. Weiss then dismissed it with a wave of her hand before looking forward. Professor Port, unaware of the alarm going off is still in the middle of his story before hearing the school bell go off. He clears his throat after posing a giant monster in the story.

"And then I- oh, ahem! Timed that one poorly I suppose. Well then, the stunning conclusion to this story will have to wait. Until next time!," Professor Port said as students began to leave.

As entertaining as the story was, the teens were just glad to be getting out of that class.

"Finally! I thought he was never going to end his story...," several of the Elven students thought.

The camera shifts back to Jaune, who watches as Weiss packs up her scroll and other supplies from class.

"Weiss, did you hear me?," He asked waiting for an answer.

Weiss doesn't even look at him before responding. She begins to walk away as she speaks.

"No. No. No. Yes.," Weiss said walking away.

Jaune groans and then does a faceplant into his desk upon hearing this.

Daikon smirks as he speaks.

"😏 Wow that was cold even for you, princess.," Daikon said with a smug look on his face.

She became annoyed by this and glared at him.

"💢 Well who asked you anyways?! Shut it, Daikon!," Weiss said annoyed.

"😏 Oh yeah? Make me, Princess!," Daikon said smirking.

"💢💢 You little-! I'll gladly do that!," Weiss said as the two continued to argue.

Khanna taps Jaune's shoulder in sympathy.

"One day Jaune, one day.," Khanna said attempting to console the blonde.

Yang ruffles his hair as she comes up to console him as well.

"She'll come around one of these days, Jaune.," Yang said.

Timeksip: Team Rwby's dorm room

A closeup of Ruby's hands as she straps the red laces of her shoes. Switch to a closeup of Weiss' hand gripping the handle of Myrtenaster strapped to her side. Switch to a closeup of Yang's Ember Celica over her left forearm as she slides the chamber. Switch to a closeup of Blake tightening the black ribbons around her arms. Switch to full view of Team RWBY's preparations, revealing their new outfits.

It then switches to Odyn and his team as they prepare for their joint side mission with team Rwby. Odyn is seen strapping and tightening his arm bracers, Roy is tying his blue headband and sheathing his blade, Hailfire is polishing her shield gauntlet, and Flare is making sure she has everything. It then pans to Khanna and Baron, each of who are adjusting their dust weapons at the last minute before standing to attention.

Although Khanna agreed to help, her condition was that they had to let Daikon in on their plan too. They reluctantly let him in on the plan too, much to chagrin of Weiss. However, even she agreed that they could use as much help as they could get.

Author's Note: I'm deviating from cannon here a bit to give each pairing represented more time to bond with each other, that way they have a little more foundation to their relationship.

"I thought that class would never end at the rate it was going.," Blake said.

"I'd have to say I agree with that.," Daikon said.

"Alright! Today we begin the investigation!," Ruby said cheerfully.

Ruby joyously leaps off her mattress with her hands in the air, she almost lands on Weiss who was on the bottom bunk of the bed.

"😑 Glad to see we're taking this sooo seriously.," Weiss said sarcastically and with a blank look on her face.

"Hey! We've got a plan that's... moderately serious.," Yang said.

Ruby then looks around at her friends as she speaks. Weiss stands up as each member states their role and objective.

"Right! Does everyone remember what their roles are?," Ruby asked.

"You, myself, Odyn, and Daikon will head to the CCT and check the Schnee records for any other Dust robberies or inconsistencies. Seeing as I'm in the family, it shouldn't be a problem.," Weiss stated.

The camera then shifts to Blake as she speaks.

"The White Fang has regular faction meetings to hand out new orders and recruit new members. If I can get in, I can fond out what they're up to... with Baron and Flare backing me up, of course., " Blake said knowing they wouldn't let her go alone.

The camera then shifts to Yang.

"I have a friend on the shady side of town who may know some things. Getting information out of him between myself and.. Roy here shouldn't be too hard.," Yang said as she smirked at Roy.

Roy simply sweatdropped at this, he knew Yang would certainly... keep things interesting while he was with her.

Khanna then spoke up.

"As for me, I'll ask around town and see what I can find out about what the White Fang and Torchwick plan on doing. Myself and Hailfire will meet up with you guys later, or in case anything comes up and you need help.," Khanna said.

The camera then zips back to Ruby who then speaks.

"Great! Then we'll meet up tonight near Yang to go over what each of our groups found. (She then pumps her fist in the air) Let's do this!," Ruby said.

The group's attention is diverted when they hear a new voice just outside the window.

"Yeah!," The voice agrees.

The teens turn and see that it's Sun who shouted in agreement with them. He's seen hanging by his tail onto a tree branch while pumping his fist into the air.

"Sun!," Blake said surprised and alrmed.

The Elves just raised an eyebrow towards him, while Daikon just looked at the blonde indifferent.

"How did you get up there?," Yang asked curious.

"Ah, it's easy; I do it all the time.," Sun said shrugging.

Weiss became alarmed at this.

"You do what?!," She shrieked.

Sun responds to the heiess' question with out looking at her as he flips into the room.

"I climb trees all the time! So, are we finally getting back at that Torchwick guy?," Sun asked.

Blake then steps forward as she responds to the fellow faunus' question.

"We are going to investigate the situation... as a team.," Blake said.

Sun gives her look before glancing towards the Elves. He raised an eyebrow at this.

"You say that, but.. why are our pointy eared friends here with you guys?," Sun asked confused.

"He's got a point, Blake.," Roy said.

"Sun's kinda got you on that one.," Khanna added.

"That's besides the point! Ugh, fine.," Blake said slightly upset.

"Sorry Sun, we don't want to have to involve any more of our friends than we  already have.," Ruby said.

Sun waved off the comment.

"Pssh, that's dumb! You should always get more friends involved, that's why I brought Neptune!," Sun replied.

Sun gestures out of the window.

The teens lean out of the window on top of one another cartoon-style to see the aforementioned teammate of Sun's standing outside, cool as can be. Team Rwby was surprised, while Odyn and the other Dark Elves just raised their eyebrow in confusion.

"Sup?," Neptune said nervously.

"How did you even get up here?," Ruby asked.

"I have my ways.," The blue haired teen said.

The camera pans out to reveal that he is standing on a very thin ledge circling the building under the windows.

Neptune speaks up again, now nervous and sweating in fear.

"Seriously, though, can I come in? We're like, really high up right now.," Neptune asked. 

Ruby looked towards Khanna, who sighed before nodding.

"May as well let the kid inside, wouldn't want him falling and hurting himself.," Khanna said sighing.

"T-Thanks a bunch erm?," Neptune said before realizing he never got the girl's name.

"Khanna. Khanna Andross. But just call me Khanna, got it?," Khanna replied.

"Oh, right! Thanks alot, beautiful.," Neptune said.

Khanna smirked at this, slightly chuckling at the teen's attempt to flirt with her.

"Heh, right. Word of advice, I'm out of your league, playboy. So save the compliments for someone who actually cares.," She responded.

Neptune put a handon his chest in mock pain.

"Ouch. That kinda hurt.," Neptune said in mock pain.

Once everyone was inside the room, the teens reconfigured their plan to accommodate for Sun and Neptune.

"Alright, myself and Odyn will go with Weiss and Daikon. Sun, you go with Blake. Baron and Flare will be there to back you up. Neptune... you can go with uh... Yang and Roy I guess, just in case they need an extra pair of hands.," Ruby said before continuing.

"Khanna, are you and Hail still good with asking around town about the White Fang?, " Ruby asked.

"Yeah, that should be fine. Plus, we'll be close enough in case anything happens.," Khanna said. 

Weiss then interjected.

"Actually, Ruby, why don't you go with Yang? After all, she is your sister.," Weiss suggested.

Daikon knew where Weiss was going with this and it irked him for some reason. Fortunately,  he didn't have to do anything as Ruby had taken things into her own hands.

Ruby pushed Neptune, who is stiff as a board, up next to yang. When she is done pushing him, he rocks back and fourth looking nervous. Yang put her hand on his shoulder to stop him from rocking.

"But, Weiss, who would go with you, then?," Ruby asked.

"Well... I guess Neptune could come with me.,"Weiss said trying to act innocent.

The others weren't fooled by this, especially not Daikon. He knew what the Shcnee heiress was attempting to do here and he wasn't falling for it.

Neptune puts on a suave look and points at Weiss as the team leader cracks up.

"(Laughing) Hahaha, nah!," Ruby said waving off the suggestion.

Weiss was less than amused by this as Daikon immediately acted and grabbed her arm, dragging her out of the room.

"Great, let's go Princess.," Daikon said dragging Weiss by the arm.

Weiss sticks out her free arm, in a fruitless effort to get back to Neptune.

"But! But!," Weiss said as she's dragged off by the saiyan.

The other teens nod as each group goes off to their respective destinations. Finally, Ruby and Odyn, who are the last to leave give each other a knowing look.

"Shall we, lady Ruby?," Odyn asks his he offers the girl his arm.

Ruby giggles at this and gladly accepted the gesture.

"Hee hee, Odyn you're so silly!," Ruby laughs.

Odyn rubs the back of his head in embarrassment and smiles.

"Only for you I am, Ruby.," He said as they walk off together.

A little while later...

The scene changes to that of a monumental tower that looms over the sparse trees growing around the crossroads below.

"Woooow! I forget how big the Transmit tower looks up close!," Ruby said amazed.

Weiss grinned as she spoke up.

"You should see the one in Atlas!," Weiss replied proudly.

"That was the first one, right Weiss?," Odyn asked.

Weiss nodded before going into a short rant about the said tower.

"Correct.," She said before beginning her small rant as the group of four teens are seen walking up to the tower.

"Atlas developed the Cross Continental Transmit System to allow the four kingdoms to communicate with one another. It was their gift to the world after the Great War.," Weiss stated with her finger in the air and her eyes closed briefly.

Daikon snorted as he had an immediate response to this.

"You really like laying it on thick, don't you princess?  You know facts and are rich, so we should all strive to be like you.. right?," Daikon teased in between his snorting.

This annoyed Weiss and she made her displeasure known to the saiyan.

"💢 Shut it, Daikon! Must you be a pest about everything?," She asked annoyed.

He smirked.

"No. But it is interesting seeing your expressions when I do.," He said smugly.

She glared at him as a line of electricity formed in between their gazes.

"You want to say that again, Daikon? You'll regret your words!," Weiss said angered.

"Oooh, I'm so scared! Why don't you make me, Ice princess?," He said smirking.

"Don't be a pest. Besides, the only reason we're here is because you said you liked the tower so much. We could've just as easily made a call from the library!," She said.

Daikon shrugged.

"We could've but... somehow I don't get the feeling that would work so well for you. Or am I mistaken?," Daikon replied.

Weiss clicked her tongue as she turned away from him, she hated it when Daikon was right. But, he did have a point... as irritating as that was to admit.

Ruby spoke up to stop the bickering between Weiss and Daikon temporarily.

"I know, but it's so coool! Ooh, I'm going to take a picture!," Ruby said as she pulled out her scroll.

She grabs her Scroll from a pocket on her clothes, but in her excitement, the device is launched from her hands, bouncing along the pavement until it lands at Penny's feet.

"Oh! Here, you dropped this.," a familiar face said as she handed the clumsy teen girl back her scroll.

Ruby's eyes widened upon recognizing the person who returned her scroll, it was Penny!

"Penny?!," Ruby asked shocked.

Penny was also surprised to see Ruby as she was now at a loss for words.

"Uuhhh...," Penny said awkwardly.

"Where have you been? We haven't seen you since that whole thing at the docks!,"Ruby asked.

"S-Sorry. I think you're confused.," Penny said stepping back from the girl.

She hiccups, resulting in the scroll being tossed into Ruby's hands. Penny then quickly turns and walks away.

"Uh.. I've uh.. got to go!," Penny said darting off.

Daikon and Odyn raised confused eyebrows at this.  Weiss then turns to Ruby as she speaks.

"What was that about?!," Weiss asked.

Ruby shrugged unsure.

"I.. don't know. But I'm going to find out!," Ruby said before Odyn placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Odyn?," Ruby asked confused.

"I'm going with you. No telling what you could get yourself into. Though I do understand your desire to find out what's going on with Penny.," Odyn told her.

Ruby nodded.

"I.. appreciate that, Odyn.," Ruby said.

Odyn nodded before turning to the 2 other teens.

"We'll meet up later, ok? We'll tell you what we find out a little bit later.," Odyn said to them.

"You go make your call! I'll- no, we'll meet up with you later!," Ruby called back to Weiss.

Weiss reaches towards Ruby and Odyn before sighing angrily.

"Wait! Ruby! Odyn! Ugh..," She says calling after them.

Daikon puts a hand on her shoulder before walking ahead.

"May as well save your breath, Princess. You'll just have to wait until later for them to explain.," Daikon said.

Weiss sighs inwardly in exasperation,  Daikon was right whether she wanted to admit it or not. She'd just have to find out later.

Both teens then turned and entered the Tower.

Back with Odyn and Ruby...

Both Odyn and Ruby are seen running until Ruby us in front of the other girl.

"Penny! Where have you been? It's been weeks!," Ruby said concerned.

Penny tried avoiding eye contact as she constantly looking for a way to escape from Ruby. Well, that is until Odyn stopped her.

"Penny, please. (She looks at the dark elf) Myself and Ruby here, are just worried about you. We'd just like to know why you're avoiding us.," Odyn said calmly.

Penny sighed as she then looked back towards the two of them.

"We just want to know if everything is okay, Penny. Is that... too much to ask?," Ruby asked.

Penny shook her head. She didn't want Ruby to be upset with her, the excitable girl was her first friend after all.

"No, I-I suppose it isn't.," Penny said hesitantly.

Ruby smiled at her.

"That wasn't so hard, was it?," Odyn asked.

Penny shook her head.

"No, it wasn't.," Penny replied.

"We think those guys we fought at the docks could be up to something... something big.. and.. very bad. Will you listen to what we have to say... as our friend?," Ruby said speaking up in question.

Penny quickly glances around before whispering to Ruby.

"We can't talk here, it isn't safe.," Penny said much to Ruby's confusion.

"Too many ears could hear what we're talking about, right?," Odyn suggested.

Penny nodded.

"Yes, though... I'm surprised you figured that out.," Penny remarked.

"🤷‍♂️ eh... Let's just say, I can pick up on things faster than most people can.," Odyn replied.

Penny nodded as she accepted that answer. While it wasn't the whole story, it wasn't a lie either. The trio of teens then continued walking towards a safer place to talk more privately.

With Weiss & Daikon- CCT (Transcommunication Tower)

Daikon and Weiss entered the Tower with the Shcnee heiress at the front. The saiyan was inwardly stifling a laugh seeing Weiss composed, not at all what she was really like.

Weiss walks through the grand, glowing lobby of the tower with pride, avoiding the central terminal and heading straight for the elevator doors, which slide open automatically and close when she's inside. The voice of the CCT AI is projected from a panel near the door.

Daikon was silent as he followed the shcnee into the elevator.

"Hello. Welcome to the CCT. How may I help you?," The AI asked.

"I'd like to go to the communications room, please.," Weiss answered.

"Absolutely. Could you please place your Scroll on the terminal to verify your identity?," The AI asked.

Weiss then retrieves her scroll from her pocket and places it directly in the center of the terminal.

"Perfect! Thank you, Miss Schnee.," The AI said.

The Elevator then begins its ascent to the specified floor of Weiss' request. Upon the elevator's ascent, Weiss' expressions shifts from pleasant to serious. This was something Daikon definitely noticed and raised an eyebrow in curiosity.  He didn't say anything because felt like it was the time to yet. He respected the shcnee's privacy, so he wouldn't bother her with the details.

The elevator then arrives at the requested floor, prompting the two occupants to exit the elevator. As he'd done so far, Daikon followed silently and without a word.

Upon entering the room, four symbols are seen on a computer - twin axes and wreaths, three flying swords pointing down, a spear and shield inside a fragmented circle, and a precise winged shape. Weiss walks up to the front desk where a holographic secretary appears in the seat.

Several beeping sounds are heard before the AI speaks up in a very polite manner.

"Welcome to the Beacon Cross Continental Transmit center. How may I help you?," The CCT AI asked.

"I need to make a call to Schnee Company World Headquarters in Atlas.," Weiss replies.

More beeping is heard before the AI speaks up again.

"Absolutely. If you could head over to Terminal 3, I'll patch you through.," The AI said.

"Thank you!," Weiss said as she smiles.

The heiress smiled and nodded before she headed over to her cubicle like assigned computer. Daikon followed silently but stood off to the side while Weiss made her call. As they made their way towards the assigned computer, they passed a few students- one of which who was also on a call. She was asking her mother how things were going back at signal academy. They passed by other conversations too, but didn't pay all that much attention to them.

Finally, Weiss arrived at her assigned computer and sat down, Daikon remaining closeby but standing off to the side of her. Weiss took in a deep and somewhat unhappy breath as she prepared for her call. A moment later, the call began. The face of a short-haired brunette woman appears on the monitor with the Schnee snowflake rotating behind her. She does not realize who she is talking to until she looks up.

"Thank you for calling the Atlas- Oh! Miss Schnee! Good afternoon! Would you like me to patch you through to your father? I think your sister Winter might be here as well.," The brunette operator said.

Weiss pleasantly smiled before politely declining the offer. Although she smiled, Daikon could tell it was forced.

"No, thank you! I was actually wondering if you could find some files for me. I've compiled a short list.," Weiss said pleasantly smiling before inserting her scroll into a console on the computer.

Beeping was heard as the operator glanced over the list.

" I see. If you don't mind... what may I ask is this for?," The operator asked a little uncertain.

Weiss was quick to respond.

"School Project.," Weiss answered back.

More beeping is heard and a rather uncomfortable look appears on the young woman's face.

"Um... There are some rather sensitive documents on this list, ma'am.," The brunette said nervously.

"Then I will be sure to treat them with extra care.," Weiss replied.

More beeping is heard as the operator is presumably transferring the data to Weiss's scroll.

"Right... Very well. The data is being transferred to you now, ma'am.," The brunette said.

"Wonderful! That will be all, then.", Weiss replied.

"Are you sure you wouldn't like me to patch you through to your father before you go?," The brunette asked.

Weiss briefly loses her smile, but just as quickly replaces it as she responds.

"Thank you for asking, but no.", Weiss says.

"Well, then... Have a nice day!," The operator says as the screen goes blank.

Once the call is dropped, so too is Weiss' happy act as seen in the reflection of the computer screen. Before Weiss can brood on how frustrated she is with her father, she feels a hand on her shoulder. Looking up, that hand is revealed to belong to Daikon. He too has a serious look for.. a moment or two.

"I'm not going to ask what is going on between you and your father, but it's obviously troubling you. The forlorn look you have right now, really doesn't suit you at all. Does it, princess?," Daikon said smirking.

Weiss gains an amused look, even though that nickname Daikon gave her still irked her. But.. just this once, she felt like letting it slide. Daikon did cheer her up... in his own roundabout way, and she was grateful to him for that.

"Oh you and that nickname.. but.. I suppose I can put up with it if you're the only one calling me that, Daikon. I'll let it slide for today.... (She pauses) Thank you for that, Daikon..," Weiss said with a small tint of pink on her cheeks.

"😌 Anytime, Princess.," Daikon answered inwardly relieved.

Back with Ruby, Penny, and Odyn..

Penny stands alone near a two-story building with patio furniture and she is looking around nervously when a hand grabs her shoulder, causing her to jump. She turns to see Ruby grinning. She smiles in return. The scene then shifts to Ruby, Odyn, and Penny walking down the street.

" I wish I could help you, Ruby, but I don't know anything about those men.," Penny admitted.

Although Ruby was disappointed at this, she was more.curious about where her friend had been up until this point.

"Oh... I see. Anyways Penny, where have you been? Like.. what happened to you that night? You just... up and vanished! Did you get kidnapped or something?," Ruby asked.

"Slow down there, tiger! The girl can only answer so many questions at one time, you don't want to overwhelm the girl. Do you?," Odyn said admonishing Ruby.

Ruby seemed to realize her mistake and quickly moved to apologize.

"Ah, yeah you're right Odyn! S-Sorry Penny!," Ruby said apologizing.

Penny waved it off and smiled.

"No no, it's all right Ruby.," Penny said waving it off.

"Ruby has just been worried about, you Penny. Please don't pay her mountain of questions any mind., " Odyn said.

"No, no, it's fine. Ruby is my friend. I understand that she was concerned.," Penny replied.

She continued.

"I've never been to another kingdom before. My father asked me not to venture out too far, but... You have to understand, my father loves me very much; he just worries a lot.," Penny said.

Odyn and Ruby both grinned.

"Believe me, I know the feeling.," Ruby said smiling.

"I think that's something we can all agree upon.," Odyn added also smiling.

"But, why not let us know you were doing okay?," Ruby asked confused.

Penny gave off a slightly saddened smile before continuing.

"I... was asked not to talk to you, or Blake, or Yang... anybody associated with your group of friends really.," Penny said.

Ruby raised an eyebrow at this, not understanding.

"Was your dad that upset about it?," Ruby asked puzzled.

"No, it... wasn't my father...," Penny said trailing off.

Odyn had been gaging the conversation up to this point, trying to figure out why Penny just vanished at the docks. What Penny said just then put an idea into his head about who this person was that ordered her not to talk to anybody. He could be wrong, but he had to make sure.

"Penny?," Odyn asked speaking up.

She looked to him.

"Yes?," Penny asked.

Ruby also looked at the dark elf puzzled ,but also curious about what he would say next.

"I'm just going to go out on a limb here... so correct me if I'm wrong. The person who ordered you not to talk to anyone and stay hidden.. it was General Ironwood, wasn't it?," Odyn said guessing.

Penny's eyes widened. There was no way, how could odyn have possibly known that?

Before Penny could say anything though, the trio of teens hear sound of Megaphones announcing something. Turning around the corner to look at the platform in the center of a plaza, is where the holographic image of James Ironwood is seen before six AK-130 Androids, who are in turn standing in front of two large metal storage cases with the spear-and-shield emblem on their doors.

"The AK-130 has been a standard security model of Remnant for several years, and they have done a fine job. Wouldn't you agree? Wouldn't you agree?," A hologram of James Ironwood asked.

The gathered crowd claps in awe.

"But... the kingdom of Atlas is a kingdom of innovation, and 'fine'... Well, that's just not good enough, is it? Presenting... the Atlesian Knight-200!," The hologram continued as the new models stepped forward knocking their predecessors away.

The gathered crowd claps again.

"Smarter, sleeker, and admittedly, a little less scary. "

the robots flex and pose as a demonstration

 These models will become active later this year, but they won't be alone! Now, the Atlesian Military has always supported the idea of removing men from the dangers of the battlefield. However, there are still many situations that will undoubtedly require... a human touch.", The hologram continued.

That last line gained Ruby's attention. Odyn saw Ruby getting distracted and knew he needed to stop that.

"Um... Ruby?," Penny asked nervously.

"So, our kingdom's greatest minds, in cooperation with the Schnee Dust Company, are proud to introduce... the Atlesian Paladin!," The hologram said.

Ironwood's image is replaced with the hologram of a robotic white behemoth, featuring hinged piston legs, large guns for hands, and a rectangular head, standing at least twice as tall as the Knights below it.

"Now, we couldn't have them here for you today, but these mechanized battle suits will be seen defending the borders of our kingdom within the year!," Ironwood's voice said.

Ruby was distracted now. Odyn saw this and rubbed the bridge of his nose before walking over towards the girl to snap her out of it.

"Whoa...," Ruby said slightly stupefied.

"🤦‍♂️ (sighs) Ruby..," Odyn said facepalming himself.

He walked over and lightly chopped Ruby on top of her head, getting her to focus.

"Hey, stop that. We don't need you getting distracted, Ruby. Not that weapons aren't cool or anything.," Odyn said.

Ruby rubbed the top of her head and puffed her cheeks at Odyn as she pouted. She knew he was right, though.

"R-right.. Thanks, Odyn.," Ruby said snapping out of her trance.

Odyn chuckled and ruffled her hair as he smiled at her.

"Anytime, little Rose.," Odyn said.

"Y-yeah, I think maybe we should... go somewhere else?," Penny said to the two teens.

They both nodded.

At the side of the stage, two armored soldiers see Penny, pointing her out and calling in backup. Penny backs away and then breaks into a dead run, which gains the attention of the two teens. Ruby and Odyn both nod to each other. 

While Ruby goes after Penny, Odyn moves to distract the soldiers.

"Afternoon, sirs! You wouldn't mind... entertaining me for abit would you?," Odyn said serving as the distraction.

Ruby turns to look back at the soldiers chasing after her friend, only for Odyn to trip them up and have them chase after him instead. She quickly dashes forward, in an attempt to catch up to Penny down the winding alley way.

"Down here! She went this way!"

The soldiers started chasing them until Odyn came from out of nowhere to knock them out with some light chops to the backs if their necks.

"Nighty night! Sorry, can't have you catching my friends like that.," Odyn said.

"Odyn... thank you!," Ruby said.

"You're welcome, little rose. Now keep going, I'll catch up!," Odyn said as more soldiers started getting involved in the chase.

He whistled towards some other soldiers.

"Hey, over here!," Odyn said distracting more of them.

"What the heck?! Get him!," One soldier said before a large group started chasing him.

Ruby and Penny kept running, seeing the soldiers distracted.

Penny and Ruby run across the street with the soldiers following them, though a honking car nearly runs one over. He manages to brace his hands against the hood, which somehow stops the vehicle, and his partner runs along after the girls.

Ruby is still trying to catch up with Penny, but a high stack of crates on a flimsy support is easily cut down by Crescent Rose, causing a wooden avalanche of boxes to block the path. Seeing Penny right ahead of her, Ruby leaps into the air and lands on the alley wall, ricocheting off to grab Penny around the middle.

"This way!," Ruby said grimacing as they disappeared in a flash of red and rose petals.

Ruby dashes away as fast as she can while carrying Penny, but the strain is too great, and they crash to the ground a short while later, with Ruby falling all the way into the street. She gets up slowly, and in her dazed state, she doesn't notice the large truck coming up from behind her until the honking is too late of a warning. She stands up just as she's about to be hit, a flash of blue and a pair of strong arms yanks her from harm. Penny puts out her palms and stops the truck from hitting Ruby while the mysterious person saves her.

In the split second where the two make contact, the ground beneath Penny cracks and crumbles into pieces, and the From Dust Till Dawn truck is lifted a little ways into the air by the girl's sheer strength. She puts it down, and the Shopkeep stares in awe at the crumples in his hood, just like the Huntress who got saved. The girl looks up, thinking it's Odyn but is surprised as she sees an unfamiliar... yet familiar face above her.

"Thanks for saving me, Od..yn..? Hang on... ," Ruby trails off confused as she sees her savior.

The man grins and laughs as he helps Ruby to her feet.

"Odyn huh? There are certainly worse people to be mistaken for than your own family.,"The man said.

The man had the  blue hair, dark skin, pointed ears, and the flame orange eyes that her friend did but... he was... older. And was that prickly thing she felt against her hair a .. beard? What was going on?

"Ha ha, yeah I uh... I guess. Who... are you?," Ruby asked.

"Tell me young lady, how is it you know the name Odyn?," The man asked.

"Oh, uh... well... he's my friend. A very... dear friend.," Ruby said.

While the two were talking, Odyn came onto the scene once he heard the loud crash. He hoped Ruby was alright.

"Ruby! Are you o-..kay?," He asked before seeing the man by Ruby.

"Odyn! I'm glad you're here! Who is this-," Ruby said before her question was immediately answered.

"Dad? What are you doing here?," Odyn asked.

Ruby's eyes widened in shock as she looked in between the two.

"Did.. he say.. DAD?! 🤯," Ruby thought shocked.

Odyn recovered and introduced Ruby's savior.

"Oh.. ahem! Ruby, I'd like you to meet my dad, Berethon. He's the one that saved you, I'm guessing?," Odyn said.

Ruby nodded.

The now identified Berethon heartily laughed before composing himself.

"Ah.. so YOU'RE the famous Ruby Rose...It's a pleasure to meet you, young lady. My son has talked a lot about you in his letters. Seems I'm meeting the excitable ball of energy he talks about so much.," Berethon grinned.

"A-ah y-yeah... It's nice to meet you, Mr Albanar.," Ruby said a little embarrassed.

"Please, just call me Berethon or.. whatever you're comfortable with.. mister Albanar makes me seem really old. 😅 I'd uh... appreciate it if people didn't think I was an old man.," Berethon said sweatdropping.

"Oh! R-Right! Mr Berethon!," Ruby said correcting herself.

"They went this way!"

"Crap, the soldiers are coming!," Odyn said trying to look for a way to escape.

Berethon walked forward before tapping his son on the shoulder.

"Seems you're in a bit of a pickle here, Odyn.. I'll take care of things for you with the soldiers. Though... I expect an explanation for how this started later.," Berethon said.

"Y-Yes sir, of course! I'll give you a full rundown and explanation later, father.," Odyn replied.

"Good. (He turns to Ruby) Also... Ruby.," He said gaining the girl's attention.

"Y-yes?," She asked.

"Feel free to tag along with my son later, my wife has been very eager to meet you based on our son's letters. She'd appreciate you coming with.," Berethon said smiling at the girl.

Ruby smiled back.

"Of course sir! I'd be honored to meet your wife and Odyn's Mother.," Ruby said.

Berethon walked off before suddenly vanishing as they heard his voice address the soldiers.

"Afternoon, gentleman. What can I do for you fine soldiers?" Berethon's voice sounded off in the background.

Odyn turned to Ruby and signaled for her to follow Penny, he'd catch up with her. He had to take care of something first. Ruby chased after Penny soon after.

The dark elf sighed as he knew what had to be done. He couldn't risk too many people knowing about his people, not yet at least. He'd have to erase these citizens memory of the last 5 minutes. 

He snapped his fingers as a light magic circle engulfed the area.

"Ancient Light Magic... Luminescent... Reversal!," He cried.

A flash of light went skyward as the spell activated.

When the light died down people were confused as to what happened before going on with their day. It was as if... they'd forgotten the last 5 minutes. 

Odyn sighed in relief before seeing two familiar faces. One was a dark elf in crimson red armor, and the other donned in the silver vanguard armor of the tower guard. These were Valvadern and Zero Arkham, two of his best friends from childhood.

"What the- Valvadern? Zero? What are you guys doing here?," He asked.

"We came with his majesty, but... we find you getting into trouble as always.," Zero said smirking.

"Come to think of it, aren't we always bailing you out my prince?," Valvadern teased.

"Ha ha, laugh it up you jerks. I owe you two again, don't I?," Odyn responded.

Zero grinned.

"Ya catch on quick. We'll discuss details later though, nice seeing you.," Zero said  as the two brothers took off after Berethon.

"Now, time to see what Ruby's up to.," Odyn said as he left the area.

Alley nearby...

Odyn followed Ruby as she finally caught up to Penny.

"Penny! Please! What is going on?! Why are you running? How did you do that?!," Ruby said exasperated.

"I-I can't! Everything's fine! (she starts to hiccup with each lie) I-I don't want to talk about it! (*hiccup*)", Penny said frightened.

Ruby spoke again.

"Penny, if you can just tell me what's wrong, I can help you!," Ruby said.

Odyn popped into the conversation at that moment.

"She means, we can help you Penny. You can trust us.," Odyn said walking up to the 2 girls.

"You wouldn't understand...," She trailed off before Odyn got her attention.

"Penny, please... trust us.," Odyn said with Ruby nodding in agreement.

She relents and finally comes up to both teens faces.

"You two are my friends, right? You promise you're my friends?!," Penny asked desperately.

Ruby smiles sincerely.

"Of course we are, Penny.," Ruby said smiling genuinely.

"We promise.," Odyn added.

Penny is silent for a second, then, looking down at her hands before raising them for both teens to see.

"Ruby.., Odyn..., I'm... not a real girl.," Penny said.

Penny shows Ruby the toll of stopping the truck that would have killed her: Parts of her palm's skin have ripped away, revealing the gray metal underneath. Penny stares sadly at Ruby's face, now completely astounded by her friend's secret as all she can simply say before the screen goes black.

"Oh...," Ruby said astonished.

"This... changes things.," Odyn said equally as surprised.

And... done! Whew! As you guys saw, Odyn's dad saved Ruby instead of it just being Penny, thought that twist would be a little different. Sorry for the lack of description on Berethon but I'll make up for it in the coming chapters where he plays a much more important role in the story.

I thought some development with Daikon and Weiss couldn't hurt, same with just deepening the foundation of Ruby and Odyn's relationship. Things could become interesting when Odyn's mom gets involved as far as Ruby's interactions with her son.

That I'm planning for Hyatan to be.. sort of a mentor for Ruby, same with Yang. Anyways.... I think I know who I'll have with Blake in this story for her pairing. Hailfire is up in the air though, maybe you guys can decide?
